Tom, you and I are in total agreement that this person was a “nut-job”, however beyond this most obvious fact, your silly logic is laughable. I recommend you take a moment and read what the vast majority of scientists are saying about climate change and look at how the weather has been changing year after year before writing any more wishful thinking about climate change. Your uninformed opinion is harmful to meaningful progress on this important issue.

Dear Sandy:
I appreciate your comments, and agree with a lot of what you are saying. Glenn Beck put on a masterful performance, and certainly Christ was proclaimed in very public and forthright manner – and in a proper way, stressing personal responsibility to God.

Although I appreciate what you and Beck said about King and about Lincoln, I must remember that both of these men – wonderful orators that they were, and with as many good ideas as they offered in some areas, were also not the saints that our Civic Myth has made them into – much less the demigods that so many people make them. They, like Billy Graham and Glenn Beck, were very selective in what they proclaim publicly, in some cases over-emphasizing certain things and completely ignoring others. Billy Graham is a superb Biblical scholar yet he did not preach the whole Gospel, only the part that his hosts and audiences wanted to hear – and I fear that Mr. Beck is the same, much as I agree with so much that he did say.
My point is, we must put our trust in GOD and not in men – the wisdom of man is valuable only in as much as it points to God’s eternal truth. This is something the men and women of 1858 and of the Great Awakening and the Restoration Movement and the Reformation Movement understood, but all too often they (or their followers and converts) forgot about and so slid back into sin.

What’s the big deal about the right of a child to not be hit or not be forced to embrace a religion (s)he believes to be evil? The real problem will be the implementation of the treaty. It obviously would force many of its member states to put in place some serious programs of parental education so adults know that any imbecile can reproduce but that it takes a lot of hard work to responsibly raise children. Many parents who beat their children would not do so if only they were educated to properly counter their children’s provocations, just like the police is trained to not use violence on suspects no matter how obnoxiously they behave.

Great site. I’ve dug all over Al Gore’s Internet looking for Pelosi’s 2009 and current approval ratings –in her home district– but can only find the national (dis)approval ratings. It might be useful to circulate those, and I would like to know myself. Maybe her opponent really DOES have a chance, but the approval numbers in her home District would be telling, maybe even motivating.
