In his first 20 months  President  Obama has claimed to be focused on the following issues, items, opportunities, etc.  . Here we go;          Goals that are clear and achievable in Afghanistan  (Gates, McChrystal, and Petraeus are focused; Obama rarely mentions it)*           The economy (If he has been focused on it, I question his intentions for it)    His energy goals (Given that his energy goals include skyrocketing electricity rates and $8.00/gallon gasoline we should celebrate his failure on this).   Making the middle class more secure and the country more competitive so that the jobs and industries of the future were not outsourced to China and India  (I’m not…

That would make it D-219, R-215.  if this were an average election, which it is not. But don’t despair.  The article later goes on to remind us that Bill Clinton, who had a 46% approval rating and was enjoying the prosperity of the dot com boom with a gangbuster economy at the time LOST 53 seats. Plus, this Congress enjoys an 11% approval rating and is rife with one corruption scandal after another and has the recent history of not only ignoring the will of the people, but taunting us as well. Obama enjoyed 62% approval among independents when he first took office.  That number has slipped to just north of 38% , a stunning 24% drop, as the ill informed realize that they’ve been taken in by a confidence man through the fawning support of a biased media. A repeat of the 194 housecleaning would make it D-202, R-231.  My gut tells me it may even be more dramatic than that, but I’ll take those

Rep. Rick Boucher is asking voters to believe he was acting in their best interest when he voted for the coal killing cap and trade bill. Boucher was chairman of the energy sub-committee of the previous Congress which first drafted the legislation, and was deemed to be instrumental in the bills development. Boucher opened his pre-vote remarks on the bill by saying that he was in “strong support of the bill.” [ The challenger Morgan Griffith, one of the most influential and efffective members of the Virginia General Assembly, opposes the Obama/Pelosi/Boucher “cap and trade” scheme. I bought a cool tool called a Fein MultiMaster , which is a very useful thing for a handyman type like me.  That cost plenty and I ‘ve already used it with great success today.  It cuts laterally, plus does a whole bunch of other great stuff. But for a whole lot less I also ordered some new bumperstickers from the interwebz on Zazzle.com.  Do you suppose this will tick anybody off?  I’d copy the photo, but zazzle is very protective of their stuff.  Here’s what it says… That Obama sticker on your car might as well say, “Yes, I’m Stupid.” One of my favorite things to do these days is

Obama Again Smacked Down by Court on Illegal Offshore Drilling Moratorium

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the ruling of a Federal Judge last month that the moratorium on offshore drilling imposed by Obama is illegal.

One supposes the president will continue to illegally continue to decimate the Gulf Coast economy by issuing another illegal ban on drilling, or perhaps take the Supreme Court. Unfortunately for Obama, he has already poisoned the Supreme Court well, so the benefit of the doubt is not likely to fall his way there.

According to Breitbart:

The Obama administration lost its court bid to maintain a six-month moratorium on offshore deepwater drilling which a federal judge ordered lifted last month.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals denied the government’s emergency request to stay that judge’s order pending appeal.

The motion was denied because the government failed to show “a likelihood of irreparable injury if the stay is not granted,” the appeals panel judges wrote in a 2-1 ruling.

The government also “made no showing that there is any likelihood that drilling activities will be resumed pending appeal.”

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has said he will soon issue a new order to block deepwater drilling regardless of how the court ruled and oil companies have not resumed drilling due to the legal uncertainties.

Cuccinelli Update on Health Care Case – Cuccinelli Compass

Today marked an important landmark in Virginia’s case to overturn the individual mandate contained in the recent healthcare bill: the first oral arguments in the case.  While most of the arguments are similar to those we have laid out for you in previous emails (link to those arguments here) – there was at least one very interesting development.

Some of you might remember a conversation between the President and George Stephanopoulos back in September of last year where President Obama denied that the healthcare bill was a tax.  Here is a segment from that conversation (link to the video here):

STEPHANOPOULOS: I wanted to check for myself. But your critics say it is a tax increase.

OBAMA: My critics say everything is a tax increase. My critics say that I’m taking over every sector of the economy. You know that. Look, we can have a legitimate debate about whether or not we’re going to have an individual mandate or not, but…

STEPHANOPOULOS: But you reject that it’s a tax increase?

OBAMA: I absolutely reject that notion.

Well, today, during the first oral arguments on Virginia’s healthcare case – Judge Hudson asked the attorneys for the US Government if the healthcare bill was a tax bill or a healthcare bill.  The answer they gave was both!

Overall, we are pleased with how the case is proceeding, and we’ll continue to update you with its progress.  If Virginia’s case survives the motion to dismiss, a summary judgment hearing is scheduled for October 18, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. to decide if the federal health care law is unconstitutional.  Stay tuned.

That’s all for now!

IM-POTUS – Now It’s Every State for Themselves

It really is too bad they don’t make a little blue pill for leadership. Barack Obama surely needs one. Like we were saying before the election that put this dunderhead in office, he has no executive experience. Now, the world understands exactly what that means. This president has absolutely no idea how to handle a crisis. Any crisis.

He is not even up to the task of day to day operations of the country.

Nearly half of the states are suing the Federal Government over Obamacare and it’s unconstitutional mandates, abandoning Obama on Health Care.

Out of frustration over the growing crimes and influx of illegals coming into Arizona, the state was forced to pass a law which allows them to do what Obama will not – secure the boarder. And Obama files a lawsuit to allow him to continue his dereliction of duty. Other states are doing the same, abandoning Obama on Immigration and Border Security.

And the oil spill has forced Gulf states to go around Obama to try to prevent or at least mitigate damage from the Obama oil spill. They have been forced to abandon Obama on this crisis.

The economy, unemployment, the Middle East, Terrorism, Security – you name it. Barack Obama is inept and impotent.

And any that follow him do so at their own peril.

WHO IS STEPHEN BLOOM? CHRISTIAN LAWYER, CRITIC of PROFESSOR MANN, SOLID CONSTITUTIONALIST CANDIDATE for OFFICE!

I found Stephen Bloom quite by accident although Bloom and I would agree there is no such thing as an accident in God’s economy!  He’s a outspoken Christian attorney who works for Irwin and McKnight in Carlisle, PA (where Jim Thorpe went to college!) who has two blogs (at least) about being an attorney and follower of Christ.  (I say a believing attorney ought to be protected under the Endangered Species Act!)

He’s even took a swipe at Professor Michael Mann (now of Penn State, formerly of UVa!) in the local media:  Watch this video at the website of WHTM Channel 27 in Harrisburg.  In fairness, Penn State exonerated Dr. Mann in their internal review

Here’s the excitment:  He’s the GOP nominee for PA state legislature in the 199th District in the Carlisle area.  He beat several present or former office holders to win.  Here’s some highlights courtesy of PennLive:

Q&A, As a state representative, how would you work to bring jobs and industry back to Carlisle and the surrounding area? “I’m dedicated to cutting the size and scope of state government, cutting taxes, and growing freedom. When we reduce government, lift the tax burden, and strengthen our freedoms, then economic growth and jobs follow. We don’t need expensive government schemes to “create or save” jobs, we need to get government out of the way of the small businesses who do the real job creating. Pennsylvania is an exceptional place and the 199th District is an exceptional place. Our people are self-reliant and motivated. When we restore our freedom and keep government out of our way, we will excel and thrive.”

Bloom’s website has a special treat:  The text of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  (Maybe some of his future colleagues will add it to their reading list!)  The preamble is worth reading by all Americans:

WE, the people of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, grateful to Almighty God for the blessings of civil and religious liberty, and humbly invoking His guidance, do ordain and establish this Constitution.

I suppose Representative Leland Yee ought not read this – he might try to ban it from California schools!

It sounds neat to run from the 199th District and I wish Stephen Bloom all the best!

Dow Says Obama Acted Stupidly and Drops Below 10,000

The jobs numbers for May are horrible any way you look at them. The 431,000 jobs created included 411,000 temporary census jobs. There were only 20,000 private sector jobs created for the entire month.

President Obama is running around trying to tell people the economy is “getting stronger every day.”

Today Wall Street called his bluff. The DOW fell 323 points to close at 9,932 – below the psychological bottom line of 10,000.

Wall Street and the American public are not fooled by the wasteful government policies. The country needs to create between 100,000 and 150,000 jobs per month to break even, as new job seekers enter the market. When you subtract 150,000 from the 20,000 jobs created, May actually saw a decline of 130,000 jobs.

And this president sees that as good news.

McConnell on Jobs Report: More Debt, Government Expansion Won’t Sustain the Economy

‘The two things that are growing fastest in this Democrat economy are the size of the federal government and the crushing burden of the national debt’

LOUISVILLEU.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement Friday regarding weaker-than-expected job creation:

“The two things that are growing fastest in this Democrat economy are the size of the federal government and the crushing burden of the national debt. Americans are doing everything possible to work harder, produce more, and live with less, while Washington is saddling them with even more government and insurmountable debt for their efforts.   When America truly begins creating jobs that help our economy grow, it will be despite our government, not because of it. Although Americans appreciate a job of any kind these days, temporary government Census jobs are not the kind of employment that will help kick-start and sustain our economy.”

Iran Offers to Help Obama Clean Up Gulf Oil Spill

Iran Offers To Help Obama Clean Up Oil

Iran Offers To Help Obama Clean Up Oil

Perhaps Iran is feeling a bit sorry for Obama these days. The economy is spinning out of control, jobs are drying up, mine explosions, cheating on his wife, losing his majority, and Obama becoming a laughing stock to the world, things look pretty bad for Obama.

This offer from yet another country that is thumbing their noses at him is worth considering. At least Iran knows how to get things done.

From Reuters:

TEHRAN, May 3 (Reuters) – An Iranian state company offered on Monday to help in preventing a vast oil slick that is moving towards the coast of the United States, the Islamic Republic’s old foe, from causing an “ecological disaster”. Haidar Bahmani, managing director of the National Iranian Drilling Company, said his firm was ready to provide assistance in fighting the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the Oil Ministry’s website SHANA reported.

New Acronym for SEC – How About SEX?

New SEC Head?

New SEC Head?

Does the Jobs Created or Saved statistic advertised by the Obama Administration include the quarter of a million dollar jobs held by SEC officials – who spend their day downloading porn on government computers?

If we are looking for someone to blame for bank failures, shouldn’t we start with the people tasked to prevent these failures?

Perhaps instead of Debbie Does Dallas we should refer to this as SEC Does Taxpayers.
From NewsMax:

California Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said it was “disturbing that high-ranking officials within the SEC were spending more time looking at porn than taking action to help stave off the events that put our nation’s economy on the brink of collapse.”

He said in a statement Thursday that SEC officials “were preoccupied with other distractions” when they should have been overseeing the growing problems in the financial system.

Perhaps Obama would be better served by foregoing a few rounds of golf and overseeing the people that work for him.

Reminds me of the last Democratic Administration – minus the jobs.

Bad News – Economy Only Added 162,000 Jobs in March

Why is that bad news?

Because the US Census Bureau and the government hired 1.2 million workers to count people. Note: This number counts Government Jobs Created or Saved.

These are temporary government jobs that will go away when the counting is done. And they are paid for with tax dollars. Or more precisely more government debt.

And while the Mainstream Media will be shouting from the rooftops that the recession is over, with no mention of the 1.2 million temporary Census jobs, when these jobs go away in a few months is anyone so blind to believe the sudden explosive job losses will not be “explained” as Census Jobs ending. No big deal.

Gene Simmons Tells Obama to ‘KISS’ Off

Kiss Off Obama

Kiss Off Obama

Gene Simmons, famous front man of the rock group KISS voted for Obama, but is not happy with Obama’s foreign policy or tax policies, economy or Health Care! And he is not shy about saying so.

On a recent FoxNews interview, Simmons was seriously unhappy with Obama’s plans to grab the wealth Simmons has worked so hard to accumulate. He has started a Life Insurance Company called Cool Springs Life to protect the wealth of high-net-worth individuals.

Details were not very forthcoming during the interview, but Simmon’s company has created a way that people with tons of money can avoid paying these higher taxes using a Life Insurance policy as cover.

So, while Obama plans to soak the rich, as predicted, the rich are paying smart lawyers to keep Obama away from their fortunes. Which means that these massive debt loads that the Socialist progressives are putting in place will be financed by … the middle class.

Nancy-Pelosi

Pelosi: Health Care Reform to Create 4 Million Jobs

Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi

Is Nancy Pelosi delusional, or is there some truth to this bizarre statement?

We think she speaks the truth. Although it is hard to say if she means the Health Reform Bill will create 4 Million jobs as part of the massive new government Health Care bureaucracy, or as a result of the Democrats returning to the minority party allowing Republicans to actually fix the economy.

The only jobs prediction that is sure to be realized should the Democrats ram this horrible bill through is a large number of Democrats will soon be unemployed.

That is good news for the economy.

Hey Obama – New Government Jobs Dont Count!

The swelling ranks of a rapidly growing Federal Government is the only sector of the economy creating new jobs. And I am sure we can find some “saved” jobs among the Federal free for all, too. These jobs are not economy supporting jobs, rather they are a further drain on taxpayer debt.

The question of how many jobs have been created is easy to answer. No private sector jobs have been created.

It’s net jobs, stupid!

Obama Says Fat Cat Banker Bonuses Now OK

You have to hand it to President Obama. His inconsistency is consistent. He now realizes that the Fat Cat Bankers he has been bad mouthing for so long are an important component of the economy. These Fat Cats are not about to enter into risky adventures that are responsible for creating jobs, if there is no up side for them.

With great risk come great rewards.

Perhaps Obama is finally starting to see that if we are to get the economy going again and jobs moving in an upward direction, he must move out of the way.

Otherwise, voters will do it for him.
