Two stories discuss the possibility that former UN Ambassador John Bolton might run for President. It is an intriguing long shot choice. The Conflicted Libertarian would be conflicted. Bolton is a “neo-con” hawk; that’s bad:
He [Bolton] has assailed the administration’s “policy chaos” in Afghanistan. And he has unabashedly called for a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities while accusing the White House of leaving the U.S. defenseless by canceling missile defenses in Poland and the Czech Republic (the administration later announced a scaled-back defensive shield).
But he is an extreme skeptic on UN and related issues; that’s good:
As President George W. Bush’s undersecretary of state for arms control, Bolton rarely saw an international treaty — whether on global warming, biological weapons or arms smuggling — that he didn’t want out of. His hard-line views prompted Senate Democrats to block his 2005 U.N. nomination. Bush did an end-around by giving Bolton a temporary recess appointment to the international body that Bolton openly disdained for its tendency to compromise.
President Bolton would surely not support the International Criminal Court, the UN Child Treaty, or CEDAW. That’s good, too. I would sleep well in a Bolton administration as far as sovereignty is concerned. Bolton’s place in the Presidential debate would be helpful. But I won’t switch; I’m for Ron Paul – his views are clear, as he said at the Value Voters debate in 2008: He wants US out of the UN, the IMF, the World Bank, the WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT. I doubt Bolton will go that far. I do think there is a place in politics for John Bolton. Perhaps US Senate or a cabinet post in a Paul administration. But not behind the Oval Office desk.

According to today’s New York Times, “For only the second time since he took office, President Obama will speak to the nation from the Oval Office on Tuesday night, in an address meant to convey that he has kept one of the central promises of his campaign: withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq.” But, The Times notes, “Mr. Obama will still strike a promises-kept theme, aides said, even as he seeks to reconcile his opposition to the Iraq war — and his opposition to the so-called troop surge, which Republicans and many military officials credit for the decrease in violence in Iraq — with his role as a wartime commander in chief seeking to credit his troops with carrying out a difficult mission.”
Politico reports that both House Republican Leader John Boehner and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell will have comments on President Obama’s speech today, pointing out the success of the surge, our troops, and General David Petreaus, and noting how many Democrats opposed this plan. “‘Some leaders who opposed, criticized, and fought tooth-and-nail to stop the surge strategy now proudly claim credit for the results,’ Boehner says in remarks prepared for delivery to the American Legion’s 92nd national convention, in Milwaukee. ‘[T]oday we mark not the defeat those voices anticipated – but progress.’ . . . “McConnell underscores the contribution of President George W. Bush’s troop ‘surge’ in Iraq: ‘By adopting the Bush administration’s plan for winding down the war and transitioning security responsibilities to the Iraqi military over time, the president has enabled us and the Iraqis to build on the gains our troops have made. … Thankfully, we can say today that our troops, the surge, and the Petraeus plan all succeeded where many in Washington thought they would fail.’”
Indeed, Democrats continually branded the surge a “failure.” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) famously declared, “[T]his war is lost and … the surge is not accomplishing anything.” Then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) said, “It has failed.” Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) said, “President Bush promised us his troop surge was going to improve security and allow Iraqis to stabilize their own country, but that is not working.” Then-Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) vented, “This whole notion that the surge is working is fantasy.” And a year after the surge was announced, then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) said, “Tonight we heard President Bush say that the surge in Iraq is working, when we know that’s just not true.”
Many Democrats even attempted to stop the surge before it could get underway. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) announced early on, “The surge has to be stopped. It is a reckless, almost mindless approach to a desperately difficult situation.” And he proceeded to introduce multiple bills and amendments that would have cut off funding for troops in the field.
In fact, beginning in 2007, Congressional Democrats forced more than 40 votes to either require troops to withdraw, to micromanage forces instead of letting the generals adapt to conditions on the ground, or to outright condemn the surge strategy.
Where would our troops, where would Iraqis, and where would the United States be today if Democrats had their way in 2007? As Sen. McConnell pointed out, “The surge in Iraq helped create the conditions that resulted in the security agreement between our two counties, which took a lot of hard work and back in 2007 some, including the current President and Vice President, thought it could not be achieved. The credit, of course, goes to General Petraeus, General Odierno, our fighting forces, Ambassador Crocker and our Iraqi partners. It is their sacrifices that we should remember today.”

Mark Fitzgibbons has a great post on American Thinker called ‘Compassionate’ nonsense aimed at the Tea Party that calls out George W. Bush Speechwriter Michael Gerson for using anti-Tea Party scare tactics about Social Security.
I especially loved the line:
Hold on seniors. Vote for establishment Republicans or those radical Tea Partiers will steal your Social Security. What? You seniors are Tea Partiers?
There are members of the “old guard” Republican Party that are so off base on this and other issues that it is almost laughable.
Almost.

There is an excellent article in Investors.Com about the sorry state of business affairs Obama has led this country into.
People are asking, “Is the government doing us more harm than good? Should we change what it does and the way it does it?”
Now, this was a question asked during the Administration of former President George W. Bush. And the obvious answer in 2008 was a resounding yes as the masses voted for the promise of hope and change, and a basic fairness in government and business, both of which were accused of oppressing the people. So why is the same question still relevant after the Democratic victories of 2008? Why are the Democrats on the precipice of massive losses in November’s election?
Too many overreaching laws give the president too much discretion to make too many open-ended rules controlling too many aspects of our lives. There’s no end to the harm an out-of-control president can do.
So, it appears that we have had an over-correction instead of simply fixing the problems. We have seen that when the Democrats take control of the Federal Government, they have this uncontrollable urge to completely and fundamentally remake things in their own image. What creeps into every single piece of legislation slammed through Congress is the undeniable intent to control every aspect of everyone’s life. HOw else could a Government takeover of Student Loans end up in a Health Care Reform Bill?
His bullying and offenses against the economy and job creation are so outrageous that CEOs in the Business Roundtable finally mustered the courage to call him “anti-business.” Veteran Democrat Sen. Max Baucus blurted out that Obama is engineering the biggest government-forced “redistribution of income” in history.
Fear and uncertainty stalk the land. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke says America’s financial future is “unusually uncertain.”
A Wall Street “fear gauge” based on predicted market volatility is flashing long-term panic. New data on the federal budget confirm that record-setting deficits in the $1.4 trillion range are now endemic.
Of course, Obama is plummeting in the polls, but as we have seen with the Journ-o-list fiasco, the “mainstream media” have conspired to fool the masses into believing that Obama is doing good for America. If Obama and this Democratic majority were forced to deal with honesty and integrity by the media, Obama’s poll numbers would be pretty close to zero, although there are those who would approve of his actions even if he were to set off nuclear bombs in American cities, because of his skin color. It is amazing that people are unable to ignore the color of this president’s skin and look at the disastrous presidency on it’s merits alone.
Under ObamaCare, he can issue new rules and regulations so insidiously powerful in their effect that higher-priced, lower-quality and rationed health care will quickly become ingrained, leaving a permanent stain.
Under Dodd-Frank, he and his agents will control all credit and financial transactions, rewarding friends and punishing opponents, discriminating on the basis of race, gender and political affiliation. Credit and liquidity may be choked by bureaucracy and politics — and the economy will suffer.
He and the EPA may try to impose by “regulatory” fiats many parts of the cap-and-trade and other climate legislation that failed in the Congress.
And by executive orders and the in terrorem effect of an industrywide “boot on the neck” policy, he can continue to diminish energy production in the United States.
By the trick of letting current-law tax rates “expire,” he can impose a $3.5 trillion 10-year tax increase that damages job-creating capital investment in an economy struggling to recover. And by failing to enforce the law and leaving America’s borders open, he can continue to repopulate America with unfortunate illegals whose skill and education levels are low and whose political attitudes are often not congenial to American-style democracy.
A wounded rampaging president can do much damage — and, like Caesar, the evil he does will live long after he leaves office, whenever that may be.
Read this article quoted in this post. It is absolutely filled with truth. And note there are 2 pages.

Good Riddance to Establishment GOP
Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) who just lost by 42 points in his primary, recently said to GreenvilleOnline.com that the “fear-driven conservative movement . . . will ultimately die out and cost the party dearly unless leaders resist the ‘demagoguery’ and ‘misinformation’ of its figureheads.”
According to conservative ratings, Inglis has been good on legislative votes. So you’d think, instead of insulting his base, he’d be saying this White House has raised demagoguery and misinformation to new levels. He’d say the left spews hate.
Legislative vote ratings, however, don’t measure leadership — or humility.
The piece goes on to say that Inglis “believes a majority of Republicans in Congress think similarly . . . but are afraid to speak out because ‘hot’ voices in television and radio talks shows have the microphone and are driving angry voters.”
But it’s Inglis — and like-minded Republicans — who make people angry. They have shown no leadership in attempting to fix what is wrong with Washington. They have passively, and actively, contributed to big government — which accounts for their abysmal approval ratings (Gallup, 20 percent).

George W. Bush, we hardly knew you!
When you took office, the press was busy making Al Gore the victim, and you nothing more than the illegitimate president.
Not quite nine months into your presidency, America was attacked by the most devastating attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor. And everything you planned to do flew out the window.
And in short order, you did the right thing and hit Afghanistan – hard. It took all of thee minutes to bomb them back to the stone age.
Our military was all dressed up with no war to fight. So how does one build a Presidential Legacy? Ronald Reagan did it without bombs and casualties. You would use the military to attack Iraq and plant the seed of Democracy in the Middle East, hoping to do for them what Reagan did for Eastern Europe.
What a plan! What an idea. Too bad the Middle East was not ready for Democracy. Afghanistan should have been a clue.
Toppling governments is relatively easy for a Superpower. It was the “remake them in your own image” that proved impossible. Winning the hearts and minds of those that do not want your idea of government and civilization is truly mission impossible. As you found out.
Where, oh where is a poor president to find a legacy?
Social Spending! That’s the ticket. Let’s pile on more debt (in addition to the two wars) and force the wealthy to pay for prescription medications for the elderly. You can be known as the “old people medicine man” or something.
And let’s let the Democrats, who now control congress, give free houses via Freddie and Fannie to the unfortunate millions that can’t possibly pay their mortgages. Let Barney Frank dictate banking policy.
Where did all this war and spending get you? George W. Bush earned his legacy as the man who took America to the brink of financial ruin with fiscal irresponsibility, dereliction of duty and incompetence never before seen.
And then Barack Obama was elected.
He promised to reverse course and turn the country around.
No longer would we have the greedy businessmen running the country.
No longer would America be unfair.
No longer would America be hated throughout the world.
No longer would the government hide the truth from Americans.
But a funny thing happened on the way to the new American Utopia.
Barack Obama did not reverse course. It turns out that Bush had slowly become a fiscal progressive, just like Obama. So Obama locked the wheel and pushed the financial Armageddon pedal to the floor.
Obama lied.
We did not reverse course, because that reversal would have taken us on a course to fiscal conservatism, the path Bush abandoned early in his first term.
Obama has replaced the greedy businessmen with greedy Union Leaders and environmentalists and special interests.
In his attempt to make America more fair, Obama has become unfair to businesses. As a result, businesses have retracted. And there are no jobs.
America is now the most unpopular country in the world. China and Russia are the new world leaders in all things economic, military and security. Under Bush, at least our stalwart allies remained our friends. In kowtowing to Muslims, Obama has lost respect for America among them by showing weakness, and he has shunned and insulted our friends. America has become just like Obama. The only friends we have left just want to use us to help themselves. They no longer like us.
And there is absolutely no truth or transparency in Obama or his administration.
America is floundering.
So, when Obama blames Bush for the problems in America, that much is correct. Bush set us on the course we are on.
But despite more goodwill than any president has ever had with the American people on day one, Barack Obama has squandered the good will. He has squandered the opportunity to make America better.
Obama has fundamentally changed the country, as he said he would. But we are on an equally bad path. It is just a different bad path than Bush chose.
And this path is of a far steeper decline.
America is in trouble. That much is true.
Where did all this war and spending get you? Barack H. Obama earned his legacy as the man who took America over the brink of financial ruin with fiscal irresponsibility, dereliction of duty and incompetence exceeding that of even George W. Bush.
George W. Bush did not leave office with a legacy. He left it with a curse on America. A curse named Obama.

I want to thank Chris Stirewalt for his wise article in the DC Examiner (courtesy of RCP). I want to reserve comment on whether Michael Steele should be fired or not; that’s up to the Republican National Committee. However, Stirewalt raises several crucial issues.
First, we have the fact that 9/11 did start the conflict in Afghanistan (let me say right here that Cong. Paul voted to give the President the authority to use force against the Taliban in Afghanistan as punishment for 9/11) but it was morphed into nation-building:
It wasn’t even a war of George W. Bush’s choosing. The ruling Taliban was responsible for letting the Arabian Muslims of al Qaeda launch the Sept. 11 attacks. Lobbing in some cruise missiles, a la Bill Clinton in 1998, would not have sufficed.
Bush might have begun a drawdown after the successful Afghan elections of 2004, but instead opted to apply his Iraqi “forward strategy of freedom” (also known as nation building) in Afghanistan too.
I couldn’t have said it better! After suggesting that there was some success in Iraq, Stirewalt adds more:
In Afghanistan, which vies with Somalia as the worst country in the world, American and allied troops are now dying at a pace of 100 a month, and the chances of building a stable, self-sustaining nation seem remote. Doing so in the next year, as President Obama has arbitrarily decreed, is universally acknowledged to be impossible.
So the war was not one of Obama’s choosing, but the strategy certainly is. Obama led four months of meetings to decide what to do. He certainly had other choices. His own vice president suggested a limited force to fight al Qaeda instead of the 100,000 troops who are supposed to subjugate and civilize the Taliban.
First time for Sandy to agree with Vice President Biden! (Might be embarrassing for the VP!) But the Afghan issue does show the divide in the GOP between the noninventionists and the Wilsonian nation builders:
But that’s not why Bill Kristol and Liz Cheney are calling for Steele’s head. They want him out because they understand that Obama’s mishandling of Afghanistan may turn Republicans away from the Wilsonian nation building of the second Bush term and put them on the path of the quasi-isolationism of their political forefathers.
Except it’s not isolationism, quasi or otherwise. It’s not isolationism to support US sovereignty. It’s not isolationism to mind our own business. it’s not isolationism to let the other nations build their own nations. Besides, we can’t afford it anymore. Our future Speaker told us so in Pittsburgh when he said raise the Social Security age to pay for the war.
The Ron Paul supporters ought to be thrilled – we have a position and it’s now more popular than ever. In 2007, the GOP pretty much hooted Paul off the stage. Now people are seeing that he was largely right. I can’t wait until 2011 when that exploratory committee forms again: Paul/Johnson 2012: Liberty for all!

There was an interesting Real Clear Politics/Gallup poll on which nations find the US or its people most popular. The top five are listed. I thought it might be Poland (nope), the Baltic Republics (not them), not even Kosovo (They just missed the top five at sixth).
They are seven nations in sub-Saharian Africa: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali and Tanzania tied for fifth, Zambia was fourth, Uganda was third, Kenya was second and the Cote d’Ivorie (The Ivory Coast) was first.
Here’s why:
Since 2008, Sub-Saharan Africa may be the one region of the world where the United States has reaped the highest benefits of what has been termed “The Obama Effect.” Being of Kenyan descent, Obama enjoys high approval ratings throughout much of Africa. More substantively, 5 out of the 7 listed nations have been targeted in the president’s $3.5 billion Feed the Future initiative.
And let’s not give the 44th president all of the credit. Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, invested American aid and resources into Africa at a record pace. President Bush’s PEPFAR program was a groundbreaking policy endeavor, and while Bush’s domestic approval numbers were low upon leaving office, U.S. approval throughout much of Africa remained rather strong.
So thank the American taxpayer for his “contribution”; guess how those nations will vote at the UN when we need them…

The Progressive Liberals are desperately searching for a silver lining in yesterday’s batch of primaries and elections. The spinners are feigning delight at the “victory” of Joe Sestak, a liberal Progressive that only a Socialist can love. And it is hard to blame the Democrats for celebrating the loss of 30 year career politician Arlen Specter. No one trusts Specter at this point.
But the results of this primary was less a victory for Sestak and more a loss for Specter. Sestak successfully tied Specter to George W. Bush, still an albatross around the neck of anyone running for office.
The campaign ad below was an absolutely devastating blow to Specter’s camp. While this was not shown in Virginia, it played over and over in Pennsylvania. George Bush “trusts” Specter, and Specter shows himself to want nothing more than to win a 6th term. The creepy look on Specter’s face says it all.
After viewing that ad, you can understand the primary results.
In addition, President Obama is now 0 – 4 in pulling his candidates across the line. In most Democratic circles, the President has now earned the reputation as the “kiss of death” for Democrats.
This election cycle is about incumbents who are spending too much money. The next tier to fall will be the hopeful Progressives like Sestak, who plan to support the out of control debt and spending of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
Sestak does not stand a chance against Republican Pat Toomey. This is a classic race between the big Washington spenders and a fiscal Conservative who believes Obama is spending irresponsibly.
While Obama attempted to distance himself from Specter when the polls showed his defeat was likely, this is still a slap to Obama’s face and a repudiation of his policies.

Whittaker Chambers (born Jay Vivian Chambers), the former communist operative who testified against Alger Hiss in 1948 was born 109 years ago today. I remember reading Witness, Chambers’ famous confession. It turned out to be a compelling read and convinced me he was telling the truth. That was reluctantly confirmed by the liberal historian, Allen Weinstein in his book, Perjury, based on FBI files obtained by the academic through FOIA. Weinstein sought to show Hiss was framed. He decided Hiss lied about being a communist and a spy. Hiss had actually been the first Temporary Secretary General of the UN when it met in San Francisco in 1945.
Chambers was villified for many years but in the heart of conservative anti-communists like me, he was and is a hero. He’s also an awesome writer. He also exemplied true Christian repentence and embraced the faith of Jesus Christ as Lord. But President Reagan awarded Chambers a posthumous Medal of Freedom and President George W. Bush honored him on his 100th birthday.
I recall this line from Witness where Chambers told his wife that in defecting from communism, they were abandoning the winning side for the losing side as men see it. Followers of Christ would do well to remember this in these days of biometric ID cards and increasing world government. But we know the real score: Jesus is Lord!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to an American hero: Whittaker Chambers.

I usually do not watch the Academy Awards or other award shows because someone stands up and blames George W. Bush or America for the world’s woes or praises Al Gore for his work on global warming or uses bad language. Why have that temptation to anger? But Sunday’s show was astounding; I almost wished I had watched it. Consider this:
A movie that honored our soldiers in Iraq (The Hurt Locker) won six Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director (A woman for the first time). A movie that was intended to be critical of the US as imperialistic won only three technical awards. A openly Christian movie was nominated for Best Picture (The Blind Side) and the actress in it (Sandra Bullock) won for Best Actress. She even thanked her parents for not allowing her to car date until she was 18! And the winning director, Kathryn Bigelow of The Hurt Locker actually said this in accepting her award:
”I would not be standing here if it wasn’t for Mark Boal, who risked his life for the words on the page,” says Kathryn Bigelow receiving the Oscar for Best Director for The Hurt Locker, “and wrote such a courageous screenplay that I was fortunate enough to have an extraordinary cast bring that screenplay to life. I’d just like to dedicate this to the women and men in the military who risk their lives on a daily basis in Iraq and Afghanistan and around the world. And may they come home safe.”
I know; it’s amazing, isn’t it!
There is one more thing the Academy should do. I am sure it would have been done long ago under other circumstances (e.g., a liberal) if an actor, SAG member, SAG President, and presumably Academy member who after his acting days were over, rose to the highest office in the land – not in a movie but was elected President. I of course speak of Ronald Wilson Reagan. He should be given a special posthumous Oscar for his work and the honor he brought to his profession.

Ben Bernanke served as Federal Reserve Governor and Chairman of President George W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers. Appointed to a 4 year term on February 1, 2006, Bernanke presided over the financial meltdown as one of Bush’s chief economic advisers.
In a speech on May 17, 2007, Bernanke concluded:
Credit market innovations have expanded opportunities for many households. Markets can overshoot, but, ultimately, market forces also work to rein in excesses. For some, the self-correcting pullback may seem too late and too severe. But I believe that, in the long run, markets are better than regulators at allocating credit.
We at the Federal Reserve will do all that we can to prevent fraud and abusive lending and to ensure that lenders employ sound underwriting practices and make effective disclosures to consumers. At the same time, we must be careful not to inadvertently suppress responsible lending or eliminate refinancing opportunities for subprime borrowers. Together with other regulators and the Congress, our success in balancing these objectives will have significant implications for the financial well-being, access to credit, and opportunities for homeownership of many of our fellow citizens.
So, Bush’s economic adviser believed that the market should regulate itself. Not the government.
A few days later on May 28, 2007, Bernanke told a joint economic congressional committee:
Overall, the economy appears likely to continue to expand at a moderate pace over coming quarters. As the inventory of unsold new homes is worked off, the drag from residential investment should wane. Consumer spending appears solid, and business investment seems likely to post moderate gains.
We all know what happened. The next few quarters did not expand. Bernenke hedged his bet in this speech to be sure, but he believed the economy was doing just fine.
So, with Bernanke’s myopic vision as to the state of the economy, Bush made decisions based on this advice.
Given the economic events that occurred next, any other President would have not only refused to reappoint Bernanke, but would have – should have – demanded his resignation upon taking office.
So sorry, Mr. Obama. Your support and reappointment of Ben Bernanke no longer gives you the right to blame Bush. You are seeking advice and actions from the same source you hold responsible for the meltdown in the first place.
Really odd!

If you consider that Teddy Kennedy, the previous occupant of the People’s seat won reelection time after time despite the fact that he was a drunken womanizer elitist who ran his car off a bridge and abandoned a dying or dead campaign worker to save his own skin and career, and failed to alert anyone until the next day, Coakley was a far stronger candidate.
So, the answer is, the loss was not the candidate’s fault.
Who will the Democrats blame next, George W. Bush?

Bush Efigy - who cares? Obama Efigy - Secret Service Investigates
From CBS News:
The Secret Service is investigating after an effigy of President Obama was found hanging in the hometown of former President Jimmy Carter.
It was a disturbing reminder of another era, reports Tara Mergener of CBS News affiliate WALB-TV; a large black doll hanging by a noose from a building on main street.
It appeared right in front of a red white and blue sign that says, “Plains, Georgia. Home of Jimmy Carter our 39th president. According to a witness, the effigy had President Obama’s name on it.
One has to wonder exactly what the Secret Service is investigating.
In a CBS report in 2004:
The founder of an American ice-cream chain known for its liberal politics is sending a huge effigy of George W. Bush on a trailer around the United States, showing the U.S. president with his pants on fire.
Ben Cohen, who co-founded Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, told a Seattle newspaper that he’s exercising his right to freedom of speech to expose what he sees as Bush’s untruths during a presidential election year.
And the White House take on this (in 2004) in that article:
A White House spokesman would not comment on the effigy, other than to say that Bush supports free speech and believes most Americans support his policies.
Yet all the liberal news media are wringing their hands when it is Obama in effigy.
That reminds me of the flag burning fad years ago. Those of us that found desecration of our flag or our president offensive were told by the liberals to STFU – it is protected free speech.
We warned them that this was a slippery slope. It will happen to you some day and you won’t like it.
True dat.
As the ACLU says:
Free expression and the right to dissent are among the core principles which the American flag represents. The First Amendment must be protected most when it comes to unpopular speech. Failure to do so fails the very notion of freedom of expression. Our democracy is strong because we tolerate all peaceful forms of expression, no matter how uncomfortable they make us feel, or how much we disagree. If we take away the right to dissent — no matter how unpopular — what freedom will be sacrificed next?
So for CBS, MSNBC and the rest, shouldn’t you be hounding the Secret Service for violating the free speech rights by investigating?
Apparently now you understand why this is offensive.

Bush had some pretty low numbers by the time he left office, but a new PPP Poll shows that only 50% prefer Obama over Bush. 44% would rather Bush be our president.
2010 is shaping up rather nicely for Republicans.
From PPP Polls:
Perhaps the greatest measure of Obama’s declining support is that just 50% of voters now say they prefer having him as President to George W. Bush, with 44% saying they’d rather have his predecessor. Given the horrendous approval ratings Bush showed during his final term that’s somewhat of a surprise and an indication that voters are increasingly placing the blame on Obama for the country’s difficulties instead of giving him space because of the tough situation he inherited. The closeness in the Obama/Bush numbers also has implications for the 2010 elections. Using the Bush card may not be particularly effective for Democrats anymore, which is good news generally for Republicans and especially ones like Rob Portman who are running for office and have close ties to the former President.

Fed up with the lack of leadership in Washington D.C., Virginia shook off the Blues and put on her Red dress and painted the town last night. The message was clear and unmistakable. Democrats are leading us down the wrong path. Virginia will no longer follow.
Creigh Deeds lack of a coherent message may be the target of Democrat’s anger in the days to come, but the fact is, the Democrats simply do not have a plan at all. In Virginia or Nationwide.
Last November was a fluke. The Democrats had great success running against George W. Bush, but when there is no demon to run against, and the Democrat’s must actually have a plan, they fall flat.
The results in Virginia and New Jersey reflect the “buyer’s remorse” that has set in all over the country. The irresponsible spending, the “shove it down your throat” mentality and the inability to bring about economic recovery, jobs recovery and type of change people really wanted has doomed the Democrat’s 2008 rise to power to failure.
As Bill Bolling said at the Richmond Marriott last night, they bring “Change you can really count on”.
Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi et al have done more for the Republican Party than anyone since Ronald Reagan.
Voters sent a clear and unmistakable message yesterday. Look for the Democrats to totally disregard the meaning of this race and redouble their efforts to continue the country down the path to ruin. And themselves with it.
Liberals and their agenda have seen a massive backlash. Maine voters repealed a law allowing same sex marriage.
The Conservative movement is back!
