I do not encourage the raising of funds for candidates lest I be accused of being a official fundraiser. But the Rand Paul Money Bomb is today and tomorrow (August 20 is Ron Paul’s birthday) and they seek to raise $400,000 which is the amount Rand’s opponent just put into his own campaign. They are over $100k already. Today they had a radio marathon. This is a news story, not a fundraising request.
The latest Rasmussen poll shows Paul with a ten point lead. This may be an outlier but Paul appears to be slightly ahead. Turnout may tell the day. We need Rand Paul in the Senate.
Here’s something to ponder regarding the Perry vs Schwarzenegger decision. The people of California voted for Prop 8 in a vote that wasn’t a nailbiter, and the winning side was a racial coalition that did in fact look like America. No one can blame money for this one – opponents actually outspent proponents of Prop 8 by nearly $4 million . But the people of California’s elected government, in the person of the Governator, refused to defend Prop 8 once it came up for court challenge. And the unelected judge overturned Prop 8 on specious grounds. To say that the will of the people has been thwarted here is quite an understatement. Their will was ignored by both their elected governor and the case judge. And now there’
Many different topics in a single post, but in some oblique way they are related. I’m having an ADHD kinda day. State Debt per Capita: Big Winner: Nebraska @ $15 per resident. Big loser: Connecticut @ $4859 per resident. Go to CNN Money to scroll over your state on the map to see your share. That’s just State debt, not to be confused with your share of the national debt, which is $43,074.27 No wonder Obama’s approval rating has plummeted to 41 points and the people are now openly defying this President and his agenda. Missouri sent yet another volley over Obama’s bow by voting 71% in favor of Proposition C yesterday, which would prohibit the…
I have said severaltimesthat Ron Paul should break the conventional wisdom and choose his running mate at the beginning of his campaign. We are the New Politics. We do things like money bombs and blimps. Why not have a VP? I know Johnson will not be on the ballot in most states. That does not matter. It will broaden the campaign’s reach by having two candidates and by reaching different groups.
Also Johnson is a serious candidate; a former governor with a stellar record of cutting spending and personal liberty. He could be President if he had to serve.
I say this due to the ronpaul.com web site’s poll for who will be VP. Go vote there.
During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.
NPR’s Planet Money: “I Cannot Find Any Experts – Of Any Party – Who Are Willing To Agree With Obama On This One”
“‘A Vote For Reform Is A Vote To Put A Stop To Taxpayer-Funded Bailouts,’ Obama Said In His Speech In New York On Thursday. I Cannot Find Any Experts — Of Any Party — Who Are Willing To Agree With Obama On This One.”(“Experts Say Bills Won’t End ‘Too Big To Fail’,” NPR, 4/23/10)
“We At [NPR’s] Planet Money Did An Informal Survey Of Economists And Regulatory Experts On The Left And The Right. We Couldn’t Find Any Who Fully Endorse The Reforms Backed By President Obama And Democrats In Congress. This young man, Francisco Rodriguez, is running for the Florida House and is an extremely bright and determined individual. He supports Marco Rubio because of his strong commitment to the Constitution. (But he is not endorsing anyone yet.)
This young man embodies the ideals and beliefs that bind Conservatives together. The last couple of minutes of this video, Rodriguez speaks to the reasons Latinos overwhelmingly vote Democrat. Virginia Right! has been saying for some time that we must make a greater effort to reach out to the Latino community. I have been fortunate enough to meet and become friends with a great many Conservative Latino men and women and in this video Rodriguez puts to words what I have seen with my Latino friends.
Francisco Rodriguez, a conservative Republican candidate for the Florida House, says the GOP must reach out more to Latinos to draw them away from voting Democratic.
“Republicans need to make sure Latinos get to keep the money they earn, because they work hard for it just like anyone else,” he told Newsmax.TV’s Ashley Martella.
“They need to have good family values, because Latinos are very family oriented, and they need to run Latinos for office, because they connect well with their own.”
Bipartisanship in the true sense is an overlapping position on an issue or issues. If a bill is introduced that is broadly acceptable to most, it is a true bipartisan bill. If a number of aspects of a bill are strongly objected to by one party, like the Health “Reform” Bills in Washington, adding items that are equally objectionable to the other party just to pass the legislation is not bipartisan. It is simply a compromise. One where objectionable provisions by one party are balanced with equally objectionable provisions for the other party. Is there any way this can result in good legislation for the general public?
Or is a truly bipartisan bill, one where both parties agree on the overall bill, better?
Almost everyone would say the latter.
There are some, however, that would say that this is the only way to get things done. But is legislation that has equal amounts of bad provisions, depending on one’s point of view, really getting things done? Or is this an indication that what you are attempting to do is not really necessary?
I can recall a time when bipartisanship meant legislation that 70% or 80% or more agreed with the bill without compromise.
I can recall a time when compromise meant one side wanting to spend $1 billion on a project and the other side thought $500 million was enough, and the final bill called for $750 million, and had broad support.
Now, in order pass legislation, the progressives that now control the Democratic Party push through really bad socialist legislation, and instead of compromise, begin the process of spending more money to buy the votes of enough legislators to pass the bill, only a small portion of which they really cared about. The excess wasted money is written off as a cost of doing business.
The result is an exploding deficit, which is closed by more borrowing, adding to the already crushing National Debt, as we have seen.
This is how a small percentage of progressives were able to commandeer the entire Democratic Party. Not by shared goals and ideals. The progressives are still a minority within the Democratic Party. As we have seen, much of the legislation that the progressives planned to pass with the overwhelming majorities in both houses was drastically altered: abortion, Public Option insurance, etc. Or, as is the case with Cap and Trade, placed on hold.
Massive protests have steeled the spines of Democrats and Republicans. Much of the resistance that mattered came from within the Democratic Party itself. Blue Dogs, Conservative Democrats, Democrats in Conservative districts, are all treated like rogue elements outside of the Democratic Party. But the truth is, together, they are the majority and the remnants of what used to be the Democratic Party. They are hoodwinked into thinking that they are the fringe, but the truth is, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and President Obama are the fringe elements of the Democratic Party. The true Democrats have fallen for their divide and conquer scam that has secured minority rule for the progressives.
This country has always worked best with a two party system. We now have a third party that has become dominant over the Democrats, many of whom have acquiesced to the dominance of the minority progressives.
The progressives will be purged, or at least marginalized, by the voters. You would have to be a complete idiot not to see this coming. The purge will come by targeting all Democrats for defeat. Some Democrats are now trying to move away from the progressives and vote against this socialist agenda. Good. But as long as Pelosi and Reid remain the leaders of your party, you are all facing a severe voter backlash. It is simply a matter of time.
I urge the true Democrats to begin the purge now. Don’t wait until November for the voters to do it. Take your party back! It is the only way to mitigate the damage your party is sure to experience. Put Pelosi and Reid on the back bench and move your party back to a platform of freedom and liberty and away from the Socialist element.
Global warming, global warming, wherefore art thou?
If man has truly reached the point where he can cause the entire earth to warm by releasing CO2, and we also have the capability to reverse this trend by slowing the release – according to the warmers, then why use punishing means like Cap and Tax to go after people’s money?
You people are obviously a lot smarter than the rest of us, so just use your new found “science” to create a weather machine. As I recall, this thought has already occurred to the Hollywood. Luke and Laura of General Hospital fame suffered from the diabolical effects of just such a weather machine.
The mid-Atlantic states sure could benefit from a good dose of 60 degree weather to help melt this snow.
Too bad all that data was manipulated and totally fraudulent. If it was for real, it would be a huge benefit to mankind.
But then, President Obama would likely give it to our enemies as appeasement and they would use it to melt the polar ice caps, and we would all be screwed.
Maybe we should just wait until 2012 when the Republicans regain the White House and National Security returns to the national lexicon.
In the mean time, has anyone seen my snow shovel?
I know it is around here somewhere.
I just used it last weekend…
Thanks to Steve Jones for bringing this great jazzy blues song (or is it bluesy jazz) with a message to my attention (and for writing the lyrics). Jazz Artist Kathleen Stewart has recorded a song called Blame It On The Last Administration which you can hear by clicking this link.
In looking around her Artist site, she has released an album called Take Back America which is also available on the Web Site.
Did I mention she is a Tea Party Girl? Below is a recording from the Midland County Courthouse Tea Party called It Ain’t Your Money To Spend. Enjoy!
Steve thought this would go well with a previous post from today, and I agree. But this work stands on it’s own!
President Obama proposes an almost $4 Trillion budget. This will lead to the largest budget deficit in history. Then he cuts a few pennies off and proclaims it lean. What bologna!
With a projected deficit of over $1.5 Trillion to be added to the already $13 Trillion we owe, we may already have passed the point of no return.
But one of the most shocking aspects of what this debt is doing to us, for December 2009, the interest alone on this debt was $105 Billion.
What could we do with this $105 Billion if it did not go to China, Japan and the oil producing countries we owe?
For starters, it could have paid for Health Insurance for 94 Million families for December instead. There are approximately 112 million households with 2.6 persons per family according to the Census Bureau (for 2007 – latest available figures). This also equates to 244 million of the 291 million people in the US.
The money for December’s interest alone could have paid the tuition for 15 million college student’s for an entire YEAR! (There are approximately 21 million currently enrolled in College.)
It could have paid every household in America almost $1,000 in December instead.
The problem with the economy is not under-regulation. It is not bonuses paid out to workers. It is not “fat cat bankers”.
It’s the debt, stupid!
And President Obama thinks we should pile on more.
The pictures are devastating. A nation barely scraping by has been leveled by a massive earthquake and the human toll may number in the millions. Buildings collapsed and what little infrastructure that existed has been wiped out.
As usual, Americans will jump in to aleviate the suffering and, hopefully, save some lives. And we should.
But we will be doing this on borrowed money because our government has been running up massive debt for so long that we are in a massive financial hole.
But what happens when we can no longer borrow money to support extravagant and unaffordable Socialism currently being forced upon is? Even China, a Communist country, is lecturing us on the danger of the massive and rising debt.
At some point, the United States will no longer be able to respond to horrible tragedies like the one in Haiti because we can’t afford it.
And when we are financially unable to help our fellow humans, how easy will it be to sit back, helpless, and let others die?
President Obama has made the claim that “we made money” from repayment of TARP money by some banks.
Really? How’s that?
First, we borrowed the money to “bail out” these companies. And when the companies paid it back with interest at the same low rate the government paid to borrow the money, just how did we make money?
On top of that, Obama is still holding that money AND the repaid interest and looking for ways to spend it – all the while paying MORE interest.
No. I believe we would have only just broken even if the paid off loans were in turn used to pay off our debt.
By holding on to the money, we are taking a financial bath.
Apparently, Chicken Little-In-Chief Al Gore was planning a “Shake My Hand For $1,200″ sideshow at the farcical Climate Summit in Copenhagen. The Climategate disclosures caused Gore to rethink his strategy. Now that he has been exposed as a fraud, he’ll never get that kind of money for a handshake – even a really warm one.
I do have a suggestion for Albert. My Uncle Bill was a great guy. I loved to hang out with him. He would be in the middle of a sentence and if he saw a kid, he would always say “Pull my finger”.
We tried to warn them, but pull it they would.
And of course, Uncle Bill would slice the air with a roaring rendition staring last nights beans and beer. Yep. A big old Hillbilly fart, right out there for the world to hear.
Heck, I’d pay Gore $5 to pull his finger.
But most people don’t have such a vivid and wonderful memory of my Uncle Bill. Gore probably couldn’t get a dollar from most folks.
But, who knows. People have been listening to Gore’s crap for years.
The Democrat Party of Virginia spent truckloads of money in a futile attempt to defeat Republican Incumbent Delegate John O’Bannon M.D. in the 73rd House District.
The landslide victory saw Dr. O’Bannon receiving an overwhelming 62.3% of the vote while Shields received only 37%, an embarrassing total considering the massive amounts of money that the DPVA spent on totally false smear mailings. It does go to show that the voters of the 73rd are far smarter than Tom Shields and his bosses Tim Kaine and Nancy Pelosi give them credit for being.
I had hoped that this would be a good, clean race on the issues when I first met Tom Shields. I am sorely disappointed in the sleazy race Shields ran. Using the tactic President Obama used last year, the “I am a new and fresh voice for change” and then morphing into a Socialist trick, Shields hoped to fool the voters.
But Shield’s big mistake was exposing his liberal “Pelosi” side. He took off his moderate mask way before Halloween and exposed the ugly, dark hidden truth. He is a complete radical.
But, it has been fun. And I would like to personally encourage Mr. Shields to run again in two years and let Dr. O’Bannon drain some more money from Democratic coffers.
But my guess is, Tom Shields is damaged goods as far as the Democrats are concerned.
Democrat Tom Shields is running in the 73rd Virginia House District and calling himself a “New Generation Of Independent Leadership“.
His opponent, Republican John O’Bannon M.D. has pointed out at several debates that Shields’ office is in the Democratic Party of Virginia Office Suites and that the Democrats are sending mass mailings on Shields behalf that are not truthful and totally dishonest.
So far, Shields has refused to acknowledge Dr. O’Bannon’s claims.
So, the latest fund raising figures are out and Tom “Mr. Independent” Shields issues a press release proudly proclaiming that he raised more money than O’Bannon. But Tom Shields dishonestly hid the truth. He is hoping the voters will not realize his soul is bought and paid for by the Democrats.
In order to hide the embarrassing truth that he is not “Independent” as he claims and he has been lying to voters all along, Shields hides almost $68,000 that the Democrats donated with the untruthful mailings.
Here is the truth in the table below. You can also check it out for yourself on the VPAP website.

Thank goodness for the disclosure requirements of Virginia and the Virginia Public Access Project. Otherwise, it would be hard to unmask this dishonesty.
And that’s not all. With half his money coming from the Democratic Party that he fails to mention, he also forgot to tell voters that a large portion of the rest of his fund raising prowess came in the form of a loan from James Ukrop. And of course more union money to add to the Acorn/SEIU cash.
Tom Shields are so indebted to the Democrats, Acorn/SEIU, Unions and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered lobby it will take you a decade in office to pay back your new masters.
Tom Shields thought he could fool the voters, but his deceitful, sneaky scheme has been exposed!
Tom Shields is running for the 73rd Virginia House District. He has taken money from his Mentor, Congressman Bobby Scott, for whom he worked for almost 5 years.
Scott sent him money, as did the SEIU, which is an arm of Acorn.
Delegate O’Bannon has called on Shields to repudiate Scott’s vote and return the money from Acorn/SEIU immediately.
View this new video that tells the explosive Acorn story and the Shield’s connection!
The latest trend the Democrats are using at Town Hall Meetings is checking drivers licenses to make sure your address is in the district. Wouldn’t want some “nasty” outsiders to have access to the exalted legislators. Jim Moran (D-VA 8th) is just the latest to make use of this ridiculous tactic. Apparently access and influence are reserves for residents of the district. Well, Congressman, if you feel that way, how about returning the money you got from those outside of your district? For your campaign in 2008, your top 20 donors gave you $429,900.00. Of that total, only $118,700.00 came from within the 8th District. Nearly triple that total, $311,200.00 came from outside your district. Much of that from outside of Virginia. You should return that money as well as the rest of the donations from outside the 8th District. You will take money from outside, but not questions?
Obviously, the majority of your donors are aware how your votes can effect them, and they want to influence you to vote things their way.
The Town Hall attendees simply want you to address their concerns. Your vote effects everyone in this country, as do each of the votes of your colleagues in Congress.
But you don’t want to take the hard questions you know they will ask. Do all of the Union workers bussed into these Town Hall Meetings live in your district? I doubt it.
And what of the people that may have more than one house? Are they not allowed to ask questions? And business owners who bring in revenue to your district, but live outside? And those considering locating a business in the 8th district? How about people planning to buy a house there. That may live there in the not too distant future? Or those that just moved in and have not had the chance to get their Drivers License changed? Is that how you say “Welcome, neighbor”?
What you are doing is cowardly and Un-American. You discriminate against people who have a drivers license outside your district.
I recently heard a well known politician use you in a joke. He said the only time you open your mouth is to change feet. I laughed. I thought it was a joke. Apparently not.
Please take a look at this disgusting video and see for yourself.
