Mark Fitzgibbons has a great post on American Thinker called ‘Compassionate’ nonsense aimed at the Tea Party that calls out George W. Bush Speechwriter Michael Gerson for using anti-Tea Party scare tactics about Social Security.
I especially loved the line:
Hold on seniors. Vote for establishment Republicans or those radical Tea Partiers will steal your Social Security. What? You seniors are Tea Partiers?
There are members of the “old guard” Republican Party that are so off base on this and other issues that it is almost laughable.
I am going to give you some straight dope. From the gut. It’s about November and what’s at stake. You may live in an area where you have to vote Democrat to have any say. There are still lots of areas like that all over Texas and all over the otherwise conservative South and up into Virginia. And because of that, you may as a natural conservative have a view of the Democrats locally or in your district that’s somewhat benign. Sure, Obama and Pelosi are awful, but my local guy, he ain’t so bad. That’s what you may tell yourself. But. If your legislative goals and priorities include a business-friendly economic environment, clean elections, educational choice, excellence in public education, fixing the financial problems at big state agencies…
Rep. Rick Boucher is asking voters to believe he was acting in their best interest when he voted for the coal killing cap and trade bill. Boucher was chairman of the energy sub-committee of the previous Congress which first drafted the legislation, and was deemed to be instrumental in the bills development. Boucher opened his pre-vote remarks on the bill by saying that he was in “strong support of the bill.” [ The challenger Morgan Griffith, one of the most influential and efffective members of the Virginia General Assembly, opposes the Obama/Pelosi/Boucher “cap and trade” scheme. Their
This video will turn the retired folks in Nevada against Harry Reid. They will run to Sharron Angle in droves.
Reid has already alienated Hispanics by ordering them to fall in line like African-Americans and vote for Democrats. Reid and the Democrats biggest fear is that voters will realize that, after decades of supposedly fighting for them, minorities are still not equal, especially to Democrats. They are taken for granted and used by Democrats to maintain their power.
Democrats have grown richer and richer off of the backs of minorities. This is an indisputable fact.
Watch this video and see what Harry Reid does not want you to know!
Here’s something to ponder regarding the Perry vs Schwarzenegger decision. The people of California voted for Prop 8 in a vote that wasn’t a nailbiter, and the winning side was a racial coalition that did in fact look like America. No one can blame money for this one – opponents actually outspent proponents of Prop 8 by nearly $4 million . But the people of California’s elected government, in the person of the Governator, refused to defend Prop 8 once it came up for court challenge. And the unelected judge overturned Prop 8 on specious grounds. To say that the will of the people has been thwarted here is quite an understatement. Their will was ignored by both their elected governor and the case judge. And now there’
The YouCut project is focused on solutions – when we ask for ideas to cut spending, we don’t ask if it is a Republican idea or a Democrat idea, we just ask if it is a good idea.
This week’s YouCut item had the promise of bipartisanship. Last week, four House Democrats proudly announced their own ideas for spending cuts – we took one of their ideas and offered it on the House floor for a vote. We didn’t change their proposal.
When we first heard that a small group of our colleagues from the other side of the isle were interested in cutting spending, we were optimistic that they would work with us on actually getting it done. Sadly, it was not to be – they will even vote against their own ideas, simply because the motion to vote is from another party.
They talk about cutting spending, but they haven’t voted that way. We will continue to present them with opportunities to follow through on their rhetoric – your vote each week gives us the ability to do that. Click here to vote on the next five cuts, which are already up on the YouCut website.
Our country is at a critical crossroads. Either we will make the difficult decisions and approach the challenge posed by our staggering national debt like adults, or we will continue down the dangerous path of reckless spending – burdening our children and grandchildren with the cost.
U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton announced her decision on the Arizona Immigration Law. The decision from a liberal Clinton appointee surprised no one familiar with activist judges. But the ruling is sure to raise some eyebrows for the lack of understanding shown by Bolton as far as unintended consequences. Or perhaps this is what she intended.
In granting an injunction on several portion of the law, it was Bolton’s opinion that State and Local officials were prohibited from making a determination on the legal status of potential illegal detainees. No one will be required to show papers proving legal status and only the federal government is allowed to ask for this proof.
So when someone signs up to vote, how do the local officials make the determination as to their eligibility if it is not legal to ask?
And what of college tuition? Do illegals now get a state subsidized education?
Hopefully this case will be appealed, but the chances in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals are even more grim, as this is the most liberal court in the land.
Perhaps the Arizona legislature should take a page out of the Obama Administration’s playbook and go back and “change” the bill to conform to the ruling, and enact the law all over again.
If that works for offshore drilling moratoriums…
This is a subject that will ultimately be decided by the US Supreme court in a 5-4 decision.
Which way it will go is anyone’s guess. Until then, these lower courts are simply the opening moves in a chess match. Unfortunately, the Liberals only play checkers.
I have said severaltimesthat Ron Paul should break the conventional wisdom and choose his running mate at the beginning of his campaign. We are the New Politics. We do things like money bombs and blimps. Why not have a VP? I know Johnson will not be on the ballot in most states. That does not matter. It will broaden the campaign’s reach by having two candidates and by reaching different groups.
Also Johnson is a serious candidate; a former governor with a stellar record of cutting spending and personal liberty. He could be President if he had to serve.
I say this due to the ronpaul.com web site’s poll for who will be VP. Go vote there.
One of the dirty little secrets the Mainstream Media fails to talk about is the pervasive racism found among the Progressives. They pretend to be a friend to African-Americans, but the fact is, they view blacks as useful idiots whose only value is their overwhelming tendency to vote for Democrats.
When Democrat Alvin Greene won 60% of the vote, the racist Progressives howled. They all wanted the white guy, Vic Rawl. So upset were the Progressives that they demanded a meeting with the entire party to overturn the will of the people. The Progressives managed to muster enough votes to move the session to a back room, behind closed doors and out of public view.
Fortunately, the Democrats in South Carolina rejected the Progressive racism and Alvin Greene’s primary victory will stand.
One has to wonder, though. This story was barely covered in the Media. If it were the Republican Party protesting a primary decision where a black man prevailed over a white man, would this story have been such a non-story?
‘Taxpayers are still fuming over a health care process where their money was thrown around like a high roller in a hotel lobby to win last-minute votes, and now the same backroom dealing is being repeated with their freedom of speech’
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement Tuesday on Democrats’ efforts to carve out special deals for organizations in exchange for their support of the partisan DISCLOSE Act.
“If there is one thing Americans loathe about Washington, it’s the backroom dealing to win the vote of organizations with power and influence at the expense of everyone else. Taxpayers are still fuming over a health care process where their money was thrown around like a high roller in a hotel lobby to win last-minute votes, and now the same backroom dealing is being repeated with their freedom of speech. Just as it wasn’t the Democrats’ money to offer in the health care debate, free speech isn’t theirs to ration out to those willing to play ball—it’s a right guaranteed by our First Amendment to all Americans.”
Patrick Murray is now the projected winner in a very close race over Matthew Berry. With 150 of 156 Precincts reporting, Murray leads by under 400 votes out of over 12,000 cast, but the remaining 6 precincts are in Fairfax County where Murray has taken 56% of the vote.
Virginia Right! Calls 1st Congressional District – Rob Whitman Projected Winner.
This one was really not much of a race. With 66% of the Precincts in, Rob Whitman is winning 88% of the vote. Catherine Crabill should be getting ready to make a phone call to Congressman Whitman about now.
The other Virginia Primaries are still very close.
Once again the people of the United States have allowed the Socialistic and Communistic Progressives to grab power in the country, and once again they have really made a mess of things.
The good news from the recent elections is that the only way to win elective office now is to run as far away from Obama, Pelosi and Reid as possible.
In PA-12, a Democrat won, but he ran on the “I hate Obama” platform. Sure the Republican lost, but Democrats did not need to cross party lines to vote for a Pro Life, Anti ObamaCare, anti Cap and Tax, pro gun candidate.
In Hawaii – 1, Obama’s home district, a Republican did win over a pair of Democrats, but consider the fact that this district voted 72% for Obama in 2008 and the 40% of the vote pulled in by the Republican is eye-popping. The Democrats consisted of a liberal backed by the Senator Inouye machine and a Conservative Blue Dog Democrat. But when you look at the 40% by the Republican and the 27% of the votes cast for the Blue Dog, the Conservative vote totaled 67%. The Democratic Primary scheduled for September will be an interesting race.
With Harry Reid in serious trouble and most pollsters calling Reid history, things are looking very bleak indeed for Progressives.
It is certain that the Democrats running for office will be forced to reject Progressive ideas and run far more conservative than they ever have.
But with 63% of the voters wanting to repeal ObamaCare and reverse the horrible mistakes Obama has made, it is not going to be easy to hold onto a seat for those that have helped the president ruin the country.
Prediction: Even if Democrats retain a majority in the House, Progressives are finished. Pelosi finishes her run as Speaker and is replaced by either a Blue Dog Democrat, should Dems retain the majority, or a Republican if they gain control.
Rand Paul easily turned back the establishment candidate Trey Grayson tonight in the Kentucky GOP Senate primary with nearly 60% of the vote.
This is a tremendous victory for the libertarian movement. It may be looking like the tea party movement is coming together with the Ron Paul libertarians. First the Maine GOP Platform has elements of both the Paul faction and the tea partiers. Now, Rand Paul is nominated for the US Senate.
We are a long way from the 2007 laughter of Cong. Paul in his brave candidacy. Is it any question who won the 2008 election? Ron Paul did. Congrats Rand Paul!
For all the readers of Virginia Right (if any!) in Kentucky today I don’t have to say anything else! Vote for Rand Paul! Chris Stirewalt, the political editor at the Washington Examiner, is suggesting that Paul’s victory will make non-intervention, especially in Afghanistan, a more popular political issue:
If Paul pummels Grayson in an election that has given the fullest airing yet to the conservative split on the activist foreign policy of the Bush years, expect to see more Republicans expressing their reservations about Obama’s Afghan policy.
The polls are very encouraging. But the poll that counts is at the voting booth!
Richmond Tea Party joins other local tea parties in asking the Congressional Black Caucus to provide evidence of name calling at Health Care vote. We want the facts.
Below is a letter sent to the Congressional Black Caucus asking for proof that racial slurs were used.
