The Richmond Times Dispatch has outlined some of the crippling aspects of the misnamed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. A doctors’ group in western Henrico County has made a decision it hoped to avoid. The doctors say their social devotion to helping their community’s most unfortunate residents has been trumped by dollars and sense. They have decided to stop participating in Medicaid, the health-care program for the needy funded by federal and state governments. Christine Talbot , practice administrator for Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists, recently met with the doctors. She told them: “I know philosophically you want to help, but basically, if you don’t pull out of Medicaid, you guys are going to be holding the bag, and they’re never going …

I am not sure if the Democrat Leader of the U.S. Senate was attempting to overcompensate for his homosexual Freudian slip calling Delaware’s Chris Coons his “pet” or he has been watching too many episodes of the AMC network’s Mad Men, but Harry Reid definitely crossed the line of propriety and decorum while introducing Senator Kristen Gillebrand. At the fundraiser Mayor Bloomberg hosted for him at his townhouse Reid referred to her as “the hottest member” as she sat just a few feet away, according to three sources. A Reid spokesman confirmed it happened, but also noted that the Democratic Majority Leader also praised Gillibrand for her work. Then he turned his attention to Gillibrand, saying something about how “many senators are known for many things,” according to a source. He added, “We in the Senate refer to Sen. Gillibrand as the hottest member.” I can see the cover of next week’s Newsweek now;

Jimmy Carter will appear on 60 Minutes tonight. Widely recognized as ”The Worst President Ever”, Carter is sensing that by passing the horrible Obamacare legislation, Barack Obama has now replaced him and taken this dubious dishonor. In an attempt to salvage his legacy, Jimmy will argue that had it not been for Teddy Kennedy killing it, his version of government controlled Health Care would have become law during his term. Just think, had that happened, right now we would all be suffering with a system offering extended waiting lists and denial of medical services and treatments. The revenue required to fund it would have required economy destroying european style VAT taxes years ago. Jimmy Carter’s legacy as “The Worst” would have been untouchable. “The fact is that we would have had comprehensive health care now, had it not been for Ted Kennedy’s deliberately blocking the legislation that I proposed,” he tells Stahl. “It was his fault. Ted Kennedy killed the bill,” says Carter. And Kennedy, who then ran against the president for the democratic presidential…

Today The Hill reported that Harry Reid has adopted a new pet in the self-proclaimed “bearded Marxist” and Delaware Democrat Senatorial nominee Chris Coons. Not once, but two times Reid referred to Coons has his pet. “I’m going to be very honest with you — Chris Coons, everybody knows him in the Democratic caucus. He’s my pet. He’s my favorite candidate,” Reid said. “Let me tell you about him: A graduate of Yale Divinity School. Yale Law School. A two-time national debate champion. He represents two-thirds of the state now, in an elected capacity. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen him or heard him speak, but he is a dynamic speaker. I don’t mean loud or long

Forbes magazine’s cover story “How Obama Thinks” by Dinesh D’Souza offers a brilliant explanation of the inexplicable behavior our 44th President. The strange policies, bizarre actions and general oddities have frustrated and befuddled Americans (both critics and supporters alike). D’Souza identifies the president’s Father and his anticolonial dream as the impetus for all that Obama does. The author is from India and his perspective and insight into the Asian and African idea of anticolonialism. Here is his description Anticolonialism is the doctrine that rich countries of the West got rich by invading, occupying and looting poor countries of Asia, Africa and South America. As one of Obama’s acknowledged intellectual influences, Frantz Fanon, wrote in The Wretched of the Earth , “The well-being and progress of Europe have been built up with the sweat and the dead bodies of Negroes, Arabs, Indians…

The 2010 edition of the 9-12 Rally in DC was, at a distance, very similar to the 2009 version; patriots attended from all across the nation, the wore colorful clothing and carried very witty signs. The numbers didn’t quite match last year but given many who might have attended were just in DC on 8-28 at Glenn Becks Restoring Honor Rally, the turnout was impressive. What struck me most was the notable difference between ’09 and ’10. In 2009 the throngs of concerned citizens marched to our capital to let their elected officials know that they were not happy with the fiscal irresponsibility of the Federal government, their dissatisfaction with the stimulus bill and their opposition to the proposed Obamacare bill, Cap & Trade and Card Check. Today …

The takeover by the Obama administration presses on despite the increasingly negative ratings for our president and his party. In fact their insatiable hunger for power and control seems to grow as their approval shrinks. Today, the president will propose a $50 billion infrastructure plan. Polling has shown that while Americans generally are against more “stimulus”, there is some level of support for a pure infrastructure spending plan.But Rahm and Barack are not content with merely proposing a plan that invests in our nations infrastructure. Instead they have proposed yet another power grab designed to take more authority from our congress and will place it into the hands of unelected bureaucrats in the executive branch. Hidden in the roads, railways. and runway plan under the guise of taking the politics out of transportation expenditures is the creation a permanent Infrastructure Bank. This bank would leverage private and state and local …

Obama to address the nation about withdrawing American combat troops from Iraq. President Obama has scheduled his second oval office address to let the American people know that he can now officially check off another campaign promise. In February Barack’s right hand man Joe Biden prepared us for this day; “I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.” Let me be clear about this, this is a great achievement but I disagree with the attribution. Nearly every morning I begin my day with a brisk walk through our neighborhood.It is a fairly large and there are…

CreighDeeds Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds normally tweets about the mundane. The failed AG and Gubernatorial candidate routinely will let us know what’s on his Ipod (I must say he has a very good taste in music) or the daily fate of his Cincinnati Reds. So I was disappointed when he went out of his way to criticize Glenn Beck and the thousands of Virginians who participated in Saturday’s Restore Honor rally. First he very subtly tweeted a link to the anti-Beck Washington Post column by Eugene Robinson. Then another tweet linking to the anti-Beck NY Times column by Bob Herbert. At this point another tweeter (jnowlin) questions why he would…

It looks like Joe Miller’s lead against the incumbent Lisa Murkowski will hold in yet another, and arguably, the most surprising upset of 2010 so far. While there are an estimated 8,000 to 12,000 absentee ballots sent out the Murkowski campaign did not make any concerted effort to generate absentee votes and the outstanding ballots are not all Republican ballots. So how did this happen? The pollsters and analysts all had predicted an easy victory for the incumbent. Well as in any of these “perfect storm” scenarios, the reasons were multifaceted. This is 2010 and there is an anti-incumbent sentiment out there. Joe Miller was a relative unknown…

A bold statement that is easy to make and as we learned in the last decade, difficult to follow through on. Right now, according to Marco Rubio , “Forty cents of every dollar being spent by the federal government is being borrowed from my children. In other words, this year we are spending $1.4 trillion that we do not have. I really do hope that the Republican leadership has learned from their past errors, this time we will be watching!

It has been rumored for some time now that the NRA (National Rifle Association) will endorse Harry Reid in the Nevada Senate race against the conservative Sharron Angle. This is confusing to most because while Sharron Angle is a 100% Second Amendment supporter, Harry Reid pretends to be pro-gun but uses his position in the Senate to undermine the right to keep and bear arms. While the NRA has gone out of their way to state that they have yet to endorse anyone in this race. For the record, the NRA-PVF has not yet made an endorsement in the Nevada U.S. Senate race . In fact, there have been no announced endorsements for any U.S. Senate seat for the November general elections—period. It is increasingly apparent that the Reid endorsement is coming. The August issue of the NRA magazines included a preemptive explanation for the unpopular recommendation titled Making Endorsements Count which regurgitates the NRA-PVF Endorsement Policy . They go on about being non-partisan and a single issue organization that …

The Pew Forum on Religion and Politics released a poll on Religion, Politics and the President revealing that a substantial and growing number of Americans say that Barack Obama is a Muslim, while the proportion saying he is a Christian has declined and that most do not know what religion he follows. This must not sit well with the journ-O-list types. Look at how he editorialized in this excerpt of supposedly straight reporting in an AP story . Americans increasingly are convinced – incorrectly – that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, and a growing number are thoroughly confused about his religion. In other words those who believe Obama to be a Muslim are wrong and those who are unsure about the presidents religious beliefs are dim-witted idiots wandering through life in a dazed stupor. Mr. Fram then goes on to insinuate that the poll is skewed by a political bias identifying the …

In his first 20 months President Obama has claimed to be focused on the following issues, items, opportunities, etc. . Here we go; Goals that are clear and achievable in Afghanistan (Gates, McChrystal, and Petraeus are focused; Obama rarely mentions it)* The economy (If he has been focused on it, I question his intentions for it) His energy goals (Given that his energy goals include skyrocketing electricity rates and $8.00/gallon gasoline we should celebrate his failure on this). Making the middle class more secure and the country more competitive so that the jobs and industries of the future were not outsourced to China and India (I’m not…

Rep. Rick Boucher is asking voters to believe he was acting in their best interest when he voted for the coal killing cap and trade bill. Boucher was chairman of the energy sub-committee of the previous Congress which first drafted the legislation, and was deemed to be instrumental in the bills development. Boucher opened his pre-vote remarks on the bill by saying that he was in “strong support of the bill.” [ The challenger Morgan Griffith, one of the most influential and efffective members of the Virginia General Assembly, opposes the Obama/Pelosi/Boucher “cap and trade” scheme.
