By the Numbers: There are 7 seats on the Hanover Board of Supervisors There are 7 Republicans running for the 7 seats. There is 1 Democrat running There are 6 Independents running. Only 1 seat is uncontested. Only 1 Democrat? A word on “Independents”. There are several reasons to run as an Independent instead of [...]

There was one really good line in last night’s debate. Former New Mexico Governor and presidential candidate Gary Johnson quipped “My next-door neighbor’s two dogs have created more shovel-ready jobs than this current administration“. This was a debate jointly sponsored by Fox News and Google which is almost as odd as the TEA Party teaming [...]

My friend JR Hoeft over at Bearing Drift has put together a really good analysis of the Virginia Senate races and the road-map to a Republican takeover of the Senate. This is a first look and early take on the races, before candidates have an opportunity to shoot themselves in the foot and end a [...]

The recent brouhaha over the Henrico County Commonwealth Attorney post has had a ripple effect into the Virginia House of Delegates. As announced yesterday, Del. Bill Janis (VA 56th) is resigning to run as an independent for the Henrico CA post and with the election two and a half months away the need for a [...]

While we are at the just at the beginning of what is sure to be a heated GOP primary, a new poll released yesterday gives Herman Cain double digit lead, favored by 24%, over other potential GOP candidates. Coming in second is Mike Huckabee with 12%. The Iowa poll is important because, since 1972 the [...]

Poor left wing fruitcakes. The George Soros funded Republican Bashing site Media Matters made this statement when they thought that Democratic Judge Candidate for the Wisconsin Supreme Court hopeful JoAnne Kloppenburg had won the race, moving the court to the left: Right-wing media reacted to news that Democrat-backed JoAnne Kloppenburg emerged from Wisconsin’s Supreme Court [...]

The Tea Party smoked in Nevada and the Progressives smoldered in Arkansas. Blanche Lincoln (D-AK) defeated the Progressive’s choice who was backed by $10 Million in Union money. Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s massive influx of money was not enough to overcome even Democrats disdain for the Progressive failures forced on the citizens of the country.

With 63% of Precincts reporting, Scott Rigell should easily hold this lead. In the 11th Congressional District race, Keith Fimian leads 58% to 42% for Patrick Herrity [...]

#1 Winner: Conservatives and Republicans.
While a number of lefties are trying to say that the Republicans won because they ran a Moderate candidate in Bob McDonnell, that’s a bit much after months of hearing how Bob McDonnell was such a right wing monster he was going to chain women to the kitchen sink. And what about Ken Cuccinelli? And the NY-23 race sent a message to the Republican Party – No more squishy liberal Republicans. They can’t be trusted.

The Democrat Party of Virginia spent truckloads of money in a futile attempt to defeat Republican Incumbent Delegate John O’Bannon M.D. in the 73rd House District.
The landslide victory saw Dr. O’Bannon receiving an overwhelming 62.3% of the vote while Shields received only 37%, an embarrassing total considering the massive amounts of money that the DPVA spent on totally false smear mailings. It does go to show that the voters of the 73rd are far smarter than Tom Shields and his bosses Tim Kaine and Nancy Pelosi give them credit for being.

Virginia is poised to send a message to the White House and the Obama Administration. Your Change is not welcomed in the Commonwealth. New Jersey and New York are trying to send the same message. Despite the fact that the White House is trying to spin the losses as no big deal, Democrats will do well to pay close attention if they expect to retain their seats in D.C.
