Hey Democrats – Define Affordable Health Insurance!

“Affordable health insurance”. “America needs deserves affordable health insurance”.

We hear that on a daily basis. Health Insurance is too expensive. OK. I’ll buy that.

What I have not heard is what you consider affordable.

A family of four with two college kids and 40-something or 50-something parents with “normal” age related maladies that now pays and unaffordable $1,000 per month can expect to pay… what under the ObamaCare plan?

My guess is that such a family would think $200 to $300 is affordable. Steep, but affordable.

I would also venture a guess that if all of your figures turn out to be true and health insurance premiums become affordable, the fictional family above would be sorely disappointed. If the $1,000 premium did come down, it would still be above $900 per month. And you would claim a 10% drop now makes it affordable.

So, before we go any further dismantling the fundamental building blocks of the best health care system in the world, how about you guys put a dollar figure on your idea of affordable.

I suspect if you do so, most, if not all, of the little support you have on this issue goes away.
