I have a feeling that there’s nothing that great in this bill, yet the left will spin it as some sort of miracle-saving bill that averted the nation from utter disaster. I also have a feeling that there’s nothing that too terribly bad in this bill, yet the right will also espouse it as Socialism (which is factually not correct, and shows a fundamental lack of understanding political philosophy). I also have a feeling that no one genuinely wants to explain to the American people the specifics of the bill, and no American wants to read through the thousands of pages.

  2. Robert McInally says:

I believe the consequences of such a huge bill (2400+ pages) cannot be estimated. I believe that bad law leads to bad legal decisions and I believe this is a bad law. I am well versed on what constitutes socialism and capitalism and I would staunchly defend the position that we have not been capitalist for some time. From that perspective this bill is only one more step in the wrong direction.

As for either side making political hay… I have finally started reading the constitution for all it is worth and although I am not a lawer, I see no place that provides the federal government with this power. If it were only for this reason, I would oppose this bill. I am registering as an independent in a state that has more independents than Democrats and Republicans. I wish people would not water this issue down by dividing along party lines. It is far too important for that.

  3. Tom Laidlaw says:

If the bill was a good one, they wouldn’t have to use tricky tactics (Slaughter, reconciliation) to get it passed. Already the government cut reimbursement to my MedAdvantage plan, causing my premiums to go up. Then the government turns around and lambastes the insurance companies, as if they were the villains. Now this bill, if I understand it, will do away with Medicare Advantage, making my premiums skyrocket again. And again they will deny responsibility. Who will pay for this bill? I will, and millions of seniors. Doctors reimbursements are being cut as well, causing many of them to quit taking Medicare patients. And again the premiums will go up and the government will deny responsibility. Why are they targetting Medicare? Kill the Bill.

Tom White Says:

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
