A FEW THOUGHTS on the UKIP CONFERENCE in DONCASTER

The UKIP national conference in Doncaster (The home of the Labour Party Leader Ed Miliband – yes I think it is a shrewd move) had several exciting moments.  I was driven almost to goosebumps by the Mark Reckless defection.  It was a moment of high drama as it looked for a moment like maybe, just maybe Nigel Farage was going to introduce the blogger from the First Colony who has followed UKIP for years but alas it was instead MP Mark Reckless!  (A better choice I think)

I also liked this one from MEP (EU MP) Louise Bours on the National Health Service.  While I would privatize the whole thing, no one can seriously advocate that in the UK today.  Rather, Bours shows that Labour is more concerned by high salaries and golden parachutes for high level NHS officials (sounds like the education system in many places in the USA) than patient care!  Here is her video (you can go here to see more – the UKIP webmaster):

And here are two speeches – one by this MEP Ray Finch about how the EU “owns” by regulation the fisheries of the UK and it hurts the UK fisherman.  But is even suggests independence can be sustainable.  Try this out:

The UK has the largest fleet of boats under 10 metres in Europe. Yet the subsidy policy is geared to help the larger boats, the fleets of France and Spain. They’re subsidised at every turn. They’re subsidised when they’re built, when they go to sea, when they don’t go to sea and when they’re scrapped.

All I can conclude from this is that all of us are paying our EU partners to plunder our fish. What the EU’s Fisheries policy also does is to plunder not only our seas but oceans across the world.

We will assert a 200 mile maritime exclusion zone, known in the business as an Exclusive Economic Zone and no one will take resources from it without our agreement be they fishing, mining the ocean floor or drilling beneath it. The zone will be 200 miles from all our coastline, the Falkland Islands as much as Norfolk, Tristan da Cunha as much as Cornwall, Ascension island as much as Aberdeen. Also including Gibraltar.

We’ll run a system of licenses, which foreign boats must pay for, to ensure that what is taken is sustainable – no ‘tragedy of the commons” under us but it will be enough to give the UK’s fishermen a good living – without the depredations of our European partners.

And this from this UKIP Housing Spokesman Andrew Charalambous:  If you vote purple, you’ll make Britain green!

Today there are over 20,000 ex-British soldiers who have risked their lives fighting for Queen and country who are now sleeping rough homeless on our streets. And I pledge to you here and now that UKIP would provide shelter and housing for every single one of them. That is social justice. We do not aspire to be politically correct.

So much so that more than 6,000 new homes are planned each month for the countryside. More than a million homes are presently in the planning process to be located on green belt and green spaces. And that’s only the beginning. And all these new properties will need roads, infrastructure and services further blighting our landscapes.

I can appreciate this.  I have not found a video for this.  On my next post, I’ll show you how UKIP wins Labourites – there are plenty of Farage Labourites out there.  Several videos from the conference are coming…
