A Sad Duty

Tom White – the true Head Blogger here – has passed away May 2

I will write a bit more in honor of Tom White but I just found the obit in the Daily Press. Here it is:

Thomas James “Tommy” White, Jr., 67, of Mechanicsville, Va, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 2nd, 2022. He was a beloved husband, brother, dad, and “Pop-Pop”. A proud Navy veteran, Tom worked with computers most of his life and was active in politics as well as music. He is survived by his wife Sharon White, his daughter Heather Rhoads (James), son Matthew White (Krystal Hughes), brother Michael White (Patty), sister Karen White Elliott Setchel (Doug), and grandchildren Sadie and Wyatt Rhoads, as well as a brother-in-law Daniel Elliott.

Tom was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1954 to Thomas James White, Sr and Jacquelin Sylvia White. He attended VCU, and shortly after enlisted in the Navy. He met the love of his life Sharon Pruitt in the winter of 1982, and the two were wed the next April. His passion was computers, and he was involved in IT from the beginning. Later in life, he opened his own insurance agency with his wife in Yorktown, Virginia. Before his death, he worked as an IT Manager for Riverside Brick company in Richmond, Virginia. He was a lifelong Christian and Republican.

Visitation is Sunday 5/8 from 2p-4p & 6p-8p at Bennett Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, VA. Funeral Service is Monday 5/9 at 11:30am at Mechanicsville Baptist Church, followed by graveside service at 1pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, VA.

I do not know Tom’s family very well, nor do I know the future of the blog. I had been fairly inactive due to seeking a judgeship in 2021 and the general cancel culture has made my regular blogging more dangerous even though I deny I ever wrote anything mean or hateful. But some might disagree I realize.

I have to do a tribute here in the near future. I am sorry for this news but Tom is in a better place among the Great Cloud of Witnesses (Hebrews 12:1).
