Another Record Low For Obama Poll Numbers

Obama's sinking poll numbers cause much concern

The latest Rasmussen Report poll shows Obama falling to his lowest ever overall approval. Just 46% approve and 53% disapprove. The poll shows Obama’s approval index at -11. Not a record, which is currently -14, but not a good sign for the failing presidency of Barack Obama.

But perhaps the most troubling aspect of the poll for Obama is the fact that 66% of independents, that is those not affiliated with either party give Obama failing marks. This is a trend that continues in a rapid downward spiral and promises to take a number of prominent Democrats down during the 2010 mid term elections.

Part of the nature of the job,

Take on controversial things and get sinking poll numbers. Same when George Bush Jr. took on Social Security, when Bill Clinton took on Health-Care and when Ronald Reagan took on the Sandinistas

Polls were less frequent when RWR was in office, so I am not sure that comparison is very relevant, but Clinton and Bush sure are. And in both instances, the falling poll numbers were an early indication of the rise of the opposition party in both cases. I think we can agree that in most presidencies the party out of power tends to gain seats in the mid terms and often in the Presidential race.

So, the decline in the polls of the sitting president is an indicator of the Virginia elections and the mid terms next year.

As the president goes, so gos the party.

Interestingly enough, if you read Reagan's diaries you will find that he was very awre of the poll nimbers. The difference between him and Clinton, Bush, and Obama is that he did what he believed in is heart to be right, regardless of the polls.
