Are Democrats Planning to Cross Party Lines and Vote Against Eric Cantor? Yes!

I have spoken to several teachers who usually vote Democrat. But they believe Dave Brat has a better understanding of the education system than Eric Cantor.

Some of them are planning to vote for Dave Brat.

And there is a letter to the Editor of the Richmond Times Dispatch urging Democrats to vote for Dave Brat on June 10th as the best way to get rid of Eric Cantor. And while Democrats are not supposed to cross the lines and vote in Republican primaries, we do not register by party. So there is nothing stopping them.

Editor, Times-Dispatch:

The 7th District has suffered for more than a decade. Personal ambition has driven the agenda of our representative, Eric Cantor — not the concerns of his constituents. His campaign donors, for the most part, are large corporate and financial concerns that reside outside the 7th District.

Historically, his hold on this seat has been unshakeable. Now someone is shaking that tree. The 7th District GOP committee has a newly elected chair from the tea party who does not support Cantor as a candidate in the general election, but instead supports Randolph-Macon economics professor Dave Brat. Cantor’s hold might be slipping.

Might this primary campaign between Cantor and Brat be our only opportunity to rid ourselves of Cantor? Certainly, Brat would vote almost identically to Cantor. He would not, however, have the power of obstructionism that Cantor has wielded as majority leader nor would he be next in line for the speakership of the House, as Cantor is.

Brat is a candidate that many people could support — if he can unseat Cantor in this primary. Independents, Republicans and even Democrats should seize this opportunity to remove Cantor by voting for Dave Brat on June 10 in the open GOP primary. Brat may not represent your politics, but he would put the 7th District congressional seat into play. That would be a good thing for the 7th District.

I like the way she thinks. If only the Times Dispatch were more widely read.

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
