At the Dave Brat Press Conference, MSNBC Failed to Do their Homework. (READ THE WEBSITE FIRST NEXT TIME)

It was good to see the line of TV cameras and the gaggle of reporters at Dave Brat’s Press Conference yesterday at his West Broad Street Headquarters. I have mostly been all alone covering Dave Brat and his amazing primary victory. And as I jockeyed for position I was amused to hear a reporter going over the questions she planned to ask after the Press speech.

“The media invite I got said Dave was not going to answer any questions, just make a statement,” I said, butting into the discussion. “Didn’t you get the email?”

“Who are you with?” she asked.

“Virginia Right!,” I responded.

“You’re Tom?” she inquired.

I wasn’t expecting her to know who I was. (She was not with MSNBC.)

And after the presser was over and Dave Brat and his dozens of supporters went back inside, the press crushed forward with their questions. And as he promised, Dave took no questions.

I spoke to one reporter who said, “The only people who refuse to answer questions are those with their hands in the cookie jar!”

I laughed and said, “Dave Brat doesn’t even have a cookie jar yet.”

And today I see a report from MSNBC about the press conference with the headline:

Dave Brat gives press conference that’s not for the media

And it is full of whining because Brat did not take questions – just like the media invitation said.

“No media! No media!”

That’s how Dave Brat’s campaign ended his a faux press conference on Thursday, where the man who took down House Majority Leader Eric Cantor gave his first remarks since winning and then quickly rushed back into his campaign office. The press weren’t allowed to ask questions and were actually shooed away at the end.

And they went on to say:

Brat’s win last Tuesday was a surprise to everyone, including the candidate himself, it seems. Brat acknowledged that his team was not quite up to speed because no one – not even them – expected they had a shot at winning.

including the candidate himself, it seems??????

Well, perhaps if the press had been doing their job and following the campaign from the beginning they would have known that those of us that closely followed the campaign as well as Dave Brat himself expected to win.

And has the press been there all along like I was they could have called the election for Brat as I did. And not have that MSNBC deer in the headlights look about them.

And what was most interesting was the question that the MSNBC reporter wanted to ask.

Throughout the speech, Brat became the most animated when he mentioned term limits (though he declined to answer a reporter who shouted at him after his remarks, asking how many terms he would serve himself)

Hmmm. Had they followed the campaign they would have known the answer to that question.

Or had they even bothered to look at Dave Brat’s Campaign Website to prepare for the press conference.

So for Jane C. Trimm, the MSNBC “reporter” who didn’t know the answer to how long Dave plans to be in Congress and got her knickers in a knot because he didn’t take the question, here is the link to the Dave Brat for Congress Campaign Website. Go there and click the “Issues” tab. And there you will find, all neatly laid out using short words even someone from MSNBC can understand, the answer to the question you wanted. In the event you are unable to follow my instructions, Jane, I have taken the liberty of posting the answer for you below:

Term Limits
I am a strong proponent of term limits for members of Congress. Career politicians and special moneyed interests have corrupted our democratic system.  I pledge to support and submit legislation that enforces term limits. Ideally, Congressional term limits would be for 12 years total, across both The House and The Senate. Thus, I pledge to term limit myself to 12 years in Congress.

And Jane, please note that the word democratic is spelled with a little “d” as you and your friends at MSNBC often confuse the term with the name of the party. Also, for your benefit I have provided links to some of the harder words Dave Brat used to help you look them up.

And Jane wrote:

He credited their silence since the primary win to trying to catch up and staff up.

And if I may be so bold as to make a suggestion that before the next press conference you guys do your homework and heed your own advice about “catching up”. And next time, don’t show up to class without your homework, or please bring a note from your editor.

And I have been told that Professor Brat does not take the excuse “I left my homework on Lois Lerner’s hard drive.”

But that one probably went right over your head since you aren’t covering that story either.

    Hey Mr. White,

You need to lay off MSNBC. You were so very busy covering Brat’s primary campaign you probably didn’t even notice how very busy they were doing good things for their homosexual partners at MSNBC.

    Cut them some slack Paz!
