In what had to be a disappointing loss at the Olympic Games, Botswana boxer Oteng Oteng fell 14-12 to his Puerto Rican opponent:
With the scores level heading into the decider, Oteng continued to box at velocity, wearing his opponent down.
Two nice right hands from the Botswanian found the target, but the judges were not impressed and the Puerto Rican triumphed 14-12.
My review of the medal tracker shows that no new nation has yet won a medal. Sports Illustrated speculated that Jordan’s Nadin Dawani might win a medal in her 67+kg taekwando event. We’ll see. Fencing has been respectable but no medal yet. The men’s gymnastics team finished out of the running for a medal after starting out so well. Meanwhile, the US women’s pro basketball team defeated Angola 90-38. I hope all the jingos who root for the pro athletes so we can win all the games enjoyed the rout. I bet the Angolans didn’t. I’m already getting tired of this Olympics.
