“The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students. And the president should be doing more about education than saying, ‘Lights, camera, action.'”
And calls for an investigation into the money spent on the speech:
“A hearing to really examine the expenditure of $26,750 of the Department of Education funds to produce and televise an appearance by the President. As a member of the committee charged with the authorization and implementation of education programs, I am very much interested in the justification, rationale for giving the White House scarce education funds to produce a media event.”
The National Education Association denounced the speech, saying it “cannot endorse a president who spends $26,000 of taxpayers’ money on a staged media event.”
In case you were wondering, the quotes were from 1991 after President George H.W. Bush gave a speech to school children.
The first quote was from Democrat Richard Gephardt, the second, who actually held hearings and an investigation was from Democrat Rep. William Ford, and the final was from the N.E.A.
So for all the hysterical left wing Obama supporters out there that think not wanting your kids to hear a President that appoints radical, racist truthers to be Czars and takes over American Industries, and appoints tax cheats at every opportunity is a bad thing, consider the past actions of your fellow Democrats.
At least Republicans are not wasting money grandstanding to make political points like the Democrats did in 1991.
Over the years, the Democrats have approved of many actions and tactics by demonstrating their usage and deployment.
I suppose you forget how disrespectful and vicious your part was while you were out of the White House. Hope this jogs your memory.
By the way, Bush was totally exonerated of any impropriety. Democrats simply wasted a lot of time and money.
