Can Hanover County Excommunicate Bill Bolling?
I have looked around the County Web Site and can find nothing on how Hanover can purge this crybaby from our midst.
Unfortunately, the Hanover Republican Committee had an opportunity back when Bolling supported an Independent running for Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney to purge this Democrat from the Committee, but the Chairwoman decided to sweep it under the rug and not make a big “fuss” about it.
Now the word on the street is Bolling will endorse Terry McAuliffe. And he has already shot a commercial for his new BFF Terry.
When I expressed a willingness to present him to the committee for reinstating his membership status (since supporting a non-Republican against a Republican is an consider an automatic resignation) 2 years ago, Bolling angrily said “I don’t know if I even want to be reinstated”.
So the Executive Committee went round and round with the HRC Chairwoman who tried to defer the question to RPV, tried to say that Bolling was an elected official and therefor immune to resigning, and several other cop-outs to relieve Bolling of any embarrassment. (I still have ALL of those emails and can release them if anyone on the HRC disputed my word here. And it won’t pretty.)
See, we had been through this once before with a friend who supported a non-Republican against Eric Cantor. And the previous Chairwoman at the time announced before the committee (with what I saw as glee) that this gentleman (and recent war Veteran) was “kicked off the committee” for supporting a non-Republican.
And after the election, there was no “automatic” restoration of membership, no mention of the possibility and the man was still “kicked off” the Committee.
But with Bolling and the rest, it was decided that they would just do a “blanket” reinstatement without so much as a request from Bolling. And in fact, as a Magisterial District Chairman, Bolling told me he was undecided on returning.
Well, with a “Say aye to let everyone back in as a member. All opposed. Aye’s have it.” Bolling was allowed back on without his approval.
Special people get special privileges. The rules don’t apply to Bolling.
I tried to tell them then, Bolling is a turncoat and we should at least have him fill out an application to return. Leopards don’t change their spots.
Now how smart would the Hanover Republican Committee look if we had insisted that Bolling follow the same rules as the rest of us? And NOT allowed him back in until he at least asked. When Bolling endorses Democrat McAuliffe, how much better would it be for Republican Candidates if the Hanover Committee could say
“Bill Bolling? Heck, he resigned from the HRC 2 years ago and never tried to return. As far as we are concerned, his endorsement of McAuliffe is a non issue. He ain’t a member of the Republican Committee in his home county.”
Instead, we get a “sweep it under the rug” style of leadership from the Chairwoman and egg on the faces of everyone who went along with this sham.
Perhaps at the next HRC Reagan Dinner they can serve crow. God knows they are eating a lot of it these days anyway.
So with an impotent Republican Committee in Hanover that exempts pompous elitists from the same rules as the “little people” excommunication may be our best choice.
So, a little help on finding the Hanover County Excommunication Form would be appreciated.
And I also have a word of advice for Terry McAuliffe. Remember the old saying “keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.
A lot of people believe Sun Tzu coined this phrase. But that is not correct. He said something similar, but the saying actually (and fittingly) came from Machiavelli’s work “The Prince”.
Terry, my boy. You can not trust Bill Bolling. He is neither your friend nor your enemy. You may think he is a means to an end for you, but his endorsement means the end for your political hopes.
And I’ll leave you with this rendition of Bill Bolling’s Theme Song Backstabbers.
