In that OTHER senate race:  The TENTH state senate district, we have an interesting race developing and since the GOP has settled on its candidate (Glen Sturtevant), and the Dems have three hopefuls (Chesterfield BOCS member Dan Gecker, former delegate Alex McMurtrie, and my personal favorite Emily Francis.  I met Francis at two events and she’s in politics for the right reasons, too.  Very liberal of course.  But she believes in it.  I was upset that Gecker did not show for the Crusade for Voters forum.  Not sure what to make of McMurtrie but he wants to spend more on education.  Education does not need more but better spending.)

BUT the first candidate to make the fall election ballot is Libertarian Carl Loser.  (Of course due to wicked ballot non-access laws in VA, Loser gets the THIRD spot on the ballot as the Dems and GOP get the top two spots.  The General Assembly needs to change that law next year.)

I admire those who run for third parties for the most part.  They are almost always true believers who try to promote ideas in that due to the attitude in US politics of “I won’t vote for a candidate who can’t win” third parties seldom do win.

I have to especially admire Carl Loser.  His last name invites the wrong kind of attention.  But Carl embraces it in his signs and his website.  I have met Carl and he’s serious.  We should have a detailed interview after primary season.

I also admire Carl’s campaign manager – Corey M. Fauconier.  I would say watch out for Fauconier –   He’ll be on the ballot as an Libertarian for Congress or some other high office in the future.  Corey writes hip-hop music and knows record producers etc.  Excellent skills at getting communications out to people.  He also mentors youth in schools, especially through Toastmasters (which is how I met Corey).  He’s a wonderful person of faith (Yes he’s a follower of Christ Jesus) who practices it in the community.  Corey is dedicated to getting out the libertarian message in the African-American community.

Here is Carl’s website.
