Chuck Smith Gains Endorsments and Momentum

Chuck Smith

Not since 2004 has Rep. Bobby Scott, democrat incumbent in Virginia’s 3rd Congressional District, had a republican challenger. However, for the first time in his 18 year career as a politician, Bobby Scott is concerned for his re-election. The current political climate is opening the door for republican challenger Chuck Smith to have a shot at unseating Bobby Scott. At a recent voter forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Daily Press commented that:

“Smith an attorney and former Marine, is seen as the biggest obstacle to Scott’s re-election in Virginia’s 3rd District, which runs from Norfolk to Richmond along the James River.”

Chuck Smith has gained the endorsement of 12 Bishops and Pastors in the 3rd district, who traditionally supported democrat candidates. The reason for this break from tradition could be that Scott has a vote record which is not consistent with Christian values. Scott has voted against the recognition of Christianity as one of the world’s great religions; against Christmas as an important holiday in America; against “One Nation Under God” in the pledge; and against many of the programs designed to help the constituents of the 3rd District, such as school choice and faith-based initiatives to help ex-offenders rebuild their lives in their neighborhoods.

Additionally, Chuck Smith, as part of Operation Black Storm, has received the endorsement of Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich.

Operation Black Storm is a strategic initiative to endorse, financially support and promote voter awareness of the outstanding leadership records and candidacies of 15 key black conservative congressional challengers who have won their district nominations, and are running to oust entrenched incumbents.

Some of those who have received endorsements from Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and other big names in GOP politics are black conservative candidates Star Parker – CA-37, Ryan Frazier – CO-7, Allen West – FL-22, Isaac Hayes – IL-2, Marvin Scott – IN-7, Robert Broadus – MD-4, Charles Lollar – MD-5, Bill Marcy – MS-2, Michael Faulkner – NY-15, Bill Randall – NC-13, Tim Scott – SC-3, Charlotte Bergman – TN-9, Stephen Broden – TX-9 and Chuck Smith – VA-3, and Vince Danet of the US Virgin Islands.

Smith, has also earned the endorsement of Independence Caucus, a national grass root caucus with a through vetting process that includes, 80 questions survey, candidate interview, and support for of local Independence Caucus members. Chuck Smith met all the requirements.

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
