The Daily Progress, Charlottesville’s newspaper, was reporting on the Rivanna supervisor’s race in Albemarle County.  It should encourage and alarm all liberty and sovereignty activists to make sure the incumbent supervisor Kenneth C. Boyd is re-elected November 8.  Boyd has a Democratic opponent, Cynthia Neff.  Here are the candidates’ position on so-called global warming, Cool Counties, and ICLEI:

Neff says she’s pro-business, just like her opponent, but is steadfast in her defense of sustainability initiatives and Albemarle County’s green space.  *  *  *  Neff said she believes in global warming, and supports both the Cool Counties initiative and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) sustainability initiatives that Boyd voted against.

Boyd is openly skeptical of whether man-made emissions are the main cause of global warming, but said the environment is important to him. Boyd said he believes local initiatives could be more effective than Cool Counties or ICLEI.

It is clear that Neff would vote to bring ICLEI back to Albemarle County.  (The Sierra Club wants exactly that to happen!)  But it’s worse:  She proves how dangerous Agenda 21 thinking is:

Neff says she’s pro-business, just like her opponent, but is steadfast in her defense of sustainability initiatives and Albemarle County’s green space.

“I think that that’s why the master plan is so important, and that’s why the upcoming review of the master plan is so important,” she said. “We need to be maniacally focused on getting businesses to move here … We also have to maintain the green space, so we can focus on keeping the county green … We shouldn’t make exceptions to zoning to allow people to build without the green space that’s required.”  (emphasis added)

Requiring “green space” no matter what is a restriction on property rights and is NOT pro-business.  Thank you for showing us how dangerous Agenda 21 is.

I personally endorse Kenneth Boyd for Rivanna supervisor.  All the Tea Party/liberty/sovereignty activists in the area need to support him, too.  We must stand behind those who stand for liberty and sovereignty or they will not do so again.
