Conference Call With Orrin Hatch (R-UT) Re: Repealing ObamaCare

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Ut)

Virginia Right! sat in on a Conference Call with Senator Orrin Hatch yesterday afternoon. The main topic was the two bills Senator Hatch introduced to repeal two of the provisions in the ObamaCare law which many feel are both harmful and unconstitutional.

The first, the American Liberty Restoration Act (S. 3502), would repeal the individual mandate that Hatch has repeatedly called unconstitutional and has prompted lawsuits by over 20 states. The second, the American Job Protection Act (S.3501), would repeal the job-killing employer mandate that Hatch says would force more layoffs and increase taxes on businesses at a time of near 10 percent unemployment.

“It’s an indisputable fact that this $2.5 trillion health care law is bad for our nation. Its central tenets threaten our basic liberty and our ability to recover from this severe economic downturn. By repealing both the unconstitutional individual mandate and the job-killing employer mandate, the most egregious elements of this devastating health law will be eliminated. This would be a huge leap in the right direction for hard-working families and small businesses” said Hatch.

The senator discussed the dangerous precedent of allowing the federal government to force citizens to purchase a product from a private company.

The American Job Protection Act is intended to stop the mandates on businesses that have them afraid to hire new employees because of the uncertain mandates imposed by ObamaCare, and it is now known that many businesses will opt to pay the fines imposed and cancel employees health insurance.

Ironically, the Obama Administration argued that the fines imposed are not taxes. Rather, they are simply fines. However, part of the justification they are using for the “fines” is the Constitutional power of the Feds to tax. So, it is not a tax until it gets to court.

Senator Hatch said he does not expect the bills to pass this session, but this will put both Republicans and Democrats on the record concerning the legality of these two provisions.

Please contact your Senator and urge them to vote for the two Hatch bills.

A lot of what you complain about are state issues. Hatch is not responsible for making state laws. He is also in favor of stopping the illegal immigration into this country http://hatch.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=IssuePositions.View&IssuePosition_id=b137379a-ba2b-4c07-a734-4b7d92f65dee

But his bills I wrote about simply seek to repeal two of the unconstitutional portions of the health care bill. Not the whole thing.

In my opinion, the entire thing should be repealed.

But for the life of me I am unable to make sense of you demonizing Mexican drug dealers, and supporting Obama’s desire to legalize drugs. And calling Bush and his wife drunks, yet applauding Obama for treating alcoholism as a disease.

So, what are in favor of, only American drugs? And alcoholism is only a disease if you are a liberal, and something to be looked down on as abhorrent behavior if you are Republican?

I think you need to roll a couple of doobies and kick back. You seem about to explode.
