Deeds Believes Day Care Better Than Mom Care! Was Deeds A Bottle Baby?

Democrat Creigh Deeds - Was he a bottle baby?

Democrat Creigh Deeds - Was he a bottle baby?

It is hard to believe that anyone would possibly think that a Day Care center is a better option to raise and nurture your children than the child’s own Mother. Nobody cares for a child better than Mom.

Yet that is exactly what Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate Creigh Deeds is advocating. His commercials are hitting the air waves declaring “Bob McDonnell believes working women are detrimental to the family”.

Well, who among us thinks children are better off with Mom out of the house and some Day Care worker “nurturing” in Mom’s place?

Deeds believes the family is better off without the family anchor. There is no question that children benefit from having Mom at home, teaching them, imparting her wisdom and values as they grow and learn. And providing a solid foundation for their emotional and physical well being as well. Dad’s are good, too. But not as good as Mom.

Perhaps the traditional family is not for all women. And that’s fine. Bob McDonnell’s thesis (which is where Deeds lifted the quote) says “The Republican party… must find a way to lead while not necessarily legislating. Family stability is outside the scope of the government’s purview.”

He simply thinks Mother knows best.

I am baffled as to why Deeds has a problem with this.

He must have been a bottle baby.

  1. If we were in class, I would be waving my raised hand, "I know!, I know!"

Having worked on behalf of candidates on BOTH sides of the aisle, like any good Virginian, I can tell you what appears to be the most likely explanation.

When Democrats advocate for funded K-12 and similar government programs, they are thinking of helping to teach good habits at every developmental stage, so that those dirt-poor kids, from the projects, to the rural reaches of the Commonwealth, will grow-up with the values and core skills that they need to break the cycle of poverty and become self-sustaining, and perhaps even prosper.

In spite of all of their blather, Democrats know that most welfare mothers treat their kids pretty lousily and many of Virginia's poor, regardless of where they live, do not properly care for, or teach their children values that will help them to live productive lives. In rural areas, (like Westmoreland County, for example) even White families that are below the poverty line (and there are plenty) typically have ZERO books in the house. If it were not for school programs, most of the rural poor would not even know basic personal hygiene.

Should Mom and Dad know best? Sure, but the reality is, that Dad is often in jail, or was never around in the Negro homes, and the same is true for some of the White or Latino homes. Mom typically leaves the kid to be raised by the other illegitimate offspring, or the local gang, so the cycle of stupidity and poverty goes unbroken.

The Republicans always see K -12 type programs as government power grabs, intended to be used to indoctrinate White suburban kids to like rap music, wear baggy clothes and become either lesbians or transsexuals.

While all of this may in fact happen to kids subjected to sharing schools with the aforementioned poor and minority kids who were raised like animals and therefore devoid of any normal values, Democrats are actually trying to fix the overarching problem at the front end, rather than waiting, as McDonnell and his allies want, and simply have new jails ready for these future criminals.

It is a pretty simple proposition. Democrats want to invest now, in order to help create better citizens for tomorrow. Republicans, as always, don't want to pay anything; no, not ever, but they are happy to send increasing numbers of our citizens to jail for most of their productive lives.

Either way, we pay. It is just a pay now or pay later proposition. I have grown to prefer the Democrats' approach as being more optimistic and humane.
