In stunning but not entirely unexpected news, Del. Robert G. Marshall (R-Dist 13), will run for United States Senate in the June primary.
I am not yet endorsing my former delegate that I worked for his campaign from 1991 to 1995. But I know Bob Marshall as a man of principle. He introduced a child-support enforcement bill I proposed and pushed it hard. I had written it and was then asked to speak to a subcommittee of the House Courts of Justice Committee chaired by then Del. Richard Cranwell. The committee for the most part (Del. Jerrauld Jones was a conspicuous exception!) poo-poohed the bill. But it was helpful to defeat the lie that pro-lifers only care about kids until they are born.
Del. Marshall will serve the people in the best way he can. I will be keenly interested in this development and how Del. Marshall does, especially in the raising of funds. It will take millions to win the primary and millions more to beat former Governor Kaine.
