I get a parade of material from the state GOP and the Cuccinelli campaign virtually every day detailing the suspected ethical lapses of the Democrat, Terry McAuliffe. EB-5 visa program, outlandish lies about Cuccinelli, alleged laundering of campaign contributions, etc.
So I ask my Democrat readers (It may be presumptuous but the writers at the Washington Post have been giving advice to the GOP for years!): What if your guy wins? What then? I suppose abortion clinics will be safe from useful regulation for four years. But if McAuliffe disgraces the Governor’s office (Some could say this has already happened or could happen under Governor McDonnell) it could set the Democratic party back for years to come.
You do not have to take that chance: You have an alternative: Libertarian Robert Sarvis. Even in Cuccinelli wins, he has to work with courts and the legislature and the Federal Government. But the alternative could be worse. The Democrats have fine potential candidates for statewide office in the future such as Senator Chap Petersen. You might decide not to hurt their chances by voting for and supporting Robert Sarvis for Governor.
