DID CONG. CANTOR just LOSE the ELECTION? IS AMNESTY BIBLICAL?

I was amazed just before the election to read this article and I saw it in two places and assume it is authentic:

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said granting amnesty to children of illegal immigrants is a biblically-based notion and that’s why he supports it.

“I’ve always said that there’s a biblical root and a tradition in this country that says we don’t hold children liable for their parents’ acts, and when you have kids who may have been brought here, let’s say, at 2 months old, unbeknownst to them, and they’ve been here all their lives and they want to serve in our military, my position has been I agree with that principle,” the Virginia Republican said, Newsmax reported.

He went on: “They should be allowed to serve in our military and be allowed to become part of this country as a citizen, but not their parents. Not the ones who committed the illegal act. So, this is the difficulty.”

After weeks of dodging the issue, the Congressman finally seems to admit what his challenger, Dr. David Brat, says:  That Cong. Cantor is for some sort of amnesty program.
But is he right?  Must followers of Christ support amnesty?  There is a fascinating article that seems to say yes:  Norman Horn at Libertarian Christian says it is unBiblical to treat immigrants differently from citizens.  And he’s partly right.
It is wrong and sinful to mistreat or deny justice to a person because he or she is from another nation.  God is indeed no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) and it is wrong to use immigration to marginalize persons or to gratify prejudice.  If you are against illegal immigration because you hate Hispanics or other groups, you need to repent and ask God to forgive you.  You are in this issue for the wrong reasons.
But I must also respectfully disagree with Horn.
First, there was no distinction between legal and illegal immigrants in Biblical times.  So when the stranger or alien (as the Scripture calls the non-Children of Israelite) comes into your midst, you must be just and fair towards that person.  It is indeed wrong to exploit any person, even the illegal immigrant.
But the Bible was not talking about whether it is moral or right to oppose illegal immigration.  I would argue that we must stand for our own first and not dishonor those who have played by the rules (whether citizen or legal immigrant) by not enforcing the laws or denying special benefits to illegal immigrants.  Even if they are children.  We should be very careful with in-state tuition or other benefits to the children of illegal immigrants.  (Of course if they were BORN here, they are citizens and have all the rights of US citizens.)
But they’re kids, Sandy?  I am not unempathic to the plight of those who ended up here through no “fault” of their own.  BUT, if we do this, what will happen?  What seems to be happening right now:

(Reuters) – Tens of thousands of children unaccompanied by parents or relatives are flooding across the southern U.S. border illegally, forcing the Obama administration and Congress to grapple with both a humanitarian crisis and a budget dilemma.

An estimated 60,000 such children will pour into the United States this year, according to the administration, up from about 6,000 in 2011. Now, Washington is trying to figure out how to pay for their food, housing and transportation once they are taken into custody.

The flow is expected to grow. The number of unaccompanied, undocumented immigrants who are under 18 will likely double in 2015 to nearly 130,000 and cost U.S. taxpayers $2 billion, up from $868 million this year, according to administration estimates.

Parents will bring and maybe even leave their children in the USA in hopes of benefits and a better life.  These children must be returned to their families in a humane manner.  But this desperate behavior is due to the belief that we will allow them to remain in this nation if “comprehensive immigration reform” is passed.  And they might be right.
It seems to me that this Cantor comment will not sit well with many evangelicals.  It might have cost him the election.  Many lies about his opponent and now an endorsement of amnesty.  At least a partial amnesty.  Immigration is a powerful issue that helped UKIP win the European elections last May 22.  It is an issue that must be used and discussed ethically and carefully.  Will the admission by Cong. Cantor produce a huge upset here in Virginia?  We’ll see Tuesday night.

WHY WOULD ANYONE SUPPORT A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO: 1) HATE THE USA; 2) BREAK OUR LAWS; 3) REFUSE TO LEARN ENGLISH; 4) REFUSE TO ASSIMILATE INTO OUR WAY OF LIFE; 5) REFUSE TO PUT THE USA AHEAD OF MEXICO AND 6) ALWAYS VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS SO THEY CAN RECEIVE FREE HAND OUTS. ANY REPUBLICAN WHO SUPORTS THIS IS A RINO AND TRAITOR!

America is BROKE! ENOUGH ALREADY, with all the handouts!

Sandy Sanders once again demonstrates his grasp of the issues and takes them apart piece by piece. Allow another take on this.

If one begins with a faulty premise then one is obviously going to draw some false conclusions. Compassion has nothing at all to do with the push in DC for Amnesty, or some version of it. This is being driven very simply by the democans and republicrats for clear unambiguous reasons. The D’s want what they consider another rather large addition to a voting block drawn to them by their seemingly never ending stream of “freebies” The R’s are just doing what their “donor class” to borrow from what Laura Ingraham calls them ,as they are told to do. They are acting on behalf of their paid masters who want the cheap labor, all to the detriment of the existing middle class, or what is left of it.

One only needs to examine California and what this has done to that State in the last 30 years–devastating their finances and social fabric, overwhelming their court system, the criminal element, the variety of social service agencies, exploding the out of birth dependent population and ultimately leading to the nations highest state tax rate and businesses fleeing in record numbers, further aggravating an already strained tax base.

But I digress. This is about our national Sovereignty , and I make no apologies for framing it that way. For whatever reason, many of these folks simply refuse to assimilate into American society–I don’t care about their reasons. They are furthering a decline in our Nation that didn’t start with them ,to be fair, but is accelerating now at break neck speed.

I only hope the low information voter wakes up , and soon.

I thank both LIBERTY and Bob Shannon (my good friend who I admire and respect very much) for coming by. I am not sure I agree with either of the positions taken but Bob raises a good point that our society is in dire need of revival and that can only come as God’s people pray and seek God’s face and confess their sins.

There was a time when immigration was encouraged to fill a rapidly expanding nation but about 1924 that open door was largely shut. This gave time for the immigrant families to become, in some cases, better Americans than us native born! It might be good to do that sort of pause again.

Let’s hope the low information voter does awaken.
