A reader does the math and proves that Angela Kelly-Wiecek is clueless. Apartments will cost taxpayers nearly a million dollars! - Editor
DID YOU KNOW??? Chickahominy Supervisor states in a letter to one of her constituents that she is voting FOR 172 new apartments in her district because it will bring in $100,000 per year in property taxes.
Mŕs. Kelley-Wiecek then estimates that the Young Professionals slated to live in the apartments will put 90 children in the Hanover school system. OK, let’s play ball.
If our school budget is $177 Million and we have 17,942 children enrolled, then we spend $9865 per child. $9865 per child times 90 new apartment children comes to $887,860 versus $100,000 in new tax revenue. Perhaps our County leaders need a refresher course in basic math and comparative financial analysis.
