Congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va-6) joined House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA-7) today in endorsing Virginia’s former Governor and US Senator George Allen for US Senate in the 2012 race.
On a conference call, Congressman Cantor made the argument that Allen would be ready to lead on day one and has a proven record of leadership. This did not go unchallenged by call participants as questions were raised on Allen’s lack of enthusiastic support for the Paul Ryan budget plan and his uncommitted stance on the recent debt ceiling deal passed by Congress.
Congressman Cantor emphasized the need for proven leadership and electing a Senator that has already proven himself as a leader. By endorsing Allne, both Cantor and Goodlatte believe the former Governor will be an asset in the fight to bring the US Budget and National Debt under control.
In response to a question on how the TEA Party would receive this endorsement news, Cantor stated that the TEA Party stands for “Taxed Enough Already” a position that he and Goodlatte support and have worked to accomplish, and a position which they firmly believe George Allen also supports.

The grassroots is not impressed that the Establishment GOP is endorsing the Establishment GOP. The big spending TARP guy is endorsing the big spending Medicare guy. Just lets us know what to expect if Allen is elected- politics as usual.
Frankly, if Radtke wasn't such a threat to the establishment, this would be in the news at all.
We need to go with a true conservative like Jamie Radtke. She has the strength and conviction to hold on to her core fiscal conservative values.
Jamie Radtke will fight for Virginians and Americans. George Allen fought for himself and was voted out of office because of it. George Allen doesn't deserve a 2nd chance to ruin things.
