EVIDENCE for JESUS being RAISED FROM THE DEAD? HOW IS IT RELEVANT? Well, it means the Bible is accurate and both Heaven and HELL are real places!

Here is a Fox News video where the host of the show Spirited Debate show interviews Dr. Darrell Bock from Dallas Theological Seminary and Dr. Bock delivers the message well:

1.  The church has not done a very good job of training the followers of Christ Jesus how to defend the faith.  This is especially true today with all sorts of (he was kind) of ideas in the public square being echoed between media sources and back again.  This makes me wonder:  Should I go back to apologetics again?  I have felt closed doors.  I guess I better pray for a open door.

2.  Dr. Bock also suggested that the world view of the twelve disciples had to undertake a radical change:  From one transcendent God that no one could see to that very God becomes a human being in Jesus.  And they died for that radical world view change.

3.  He also nails it (no pun intended!) with the Biblical account is unlikely to be made up – his example is that women were the first witnesses to the resurrection (women were not allowed to be witnesses in court except in sexual abuse cases) and that the disciples really did not believe it at first.  Rings true.

4.  The Bible also refutes the “body stolen” theory:  Roman guards were protecting the tomb.  Very unlikely.  (I would add if Dr. Bock will forgive me for adding to his work – I would add that if the disciples stole the body, they all died [except John] for that belief system!)

Here is a website for the book Truth Matters, co-authored by Dr. Bock.  Here is Dr. Bock’s blog.

So, Sanders, what does the Resurrection mean?  It means the Bible is accurate as to its central core belief:  That Jesus is Lord and God – the God of the Jews – Yahweh.  That accuracy causes a sincere inquirer to ask:  What else does the Bible say?  It says that if Jesus is not raised that your faith is in vain.  You wasted a good life of partying and sin to believe in a lie.  (See I Corinthians 15:13-19 stated below in KJV)

13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

The Bible also says we must all face God’s judgment one day (II Corinthians 5:10 in KJV:  “10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.“) and those not availing of the free gift of Jesus’s substitutionary atonement (That’s a 100 dollar way of saying – Jesus took the sentence for your sin instead of you!) go to a place without God called Hell.  See Revelation 20:15 (KJV – no pesky copyright issues with the Authorized Edition) below:

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Now I won’t argue about how hot Hell is but I can contend:  No one has to go there.  (Heaven is also mentioned in the Bible , too.)  Neither Jew nor Gentile has to miss God’s will.

“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation unto every one that believeth; to the Jew first, then to the Gentile.”  Romans 1:16(KJV – here’s where I found the Authorized or King James Version I cited)

For those who have sought and found that they need to attain to the eternal life in Jesus Christ, go here (It’s the Billy Graham website) and receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  Do it now.  “Now is the day of salvation” is what the KJV says at II Corinthians 6:2.  I can give testimony:  It changed my life and although the world is tempting sometimes, I cannot go back!  God’s provision and grace is awesome.  If you do already trust in Jesus Christ, worship Him tomorrow.
