The schools in Hanover County probably don’t like me a whole lot. When Mechanicsville Elementary School recently began using a program that was created by a group called the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) that ostensibly wants to make things better for everyone by promoting a “no name calling week” I wrote about it. Not that the program was a bad thing, but the group behind the idea has an agenda.
And it’s not that I have a problem with Gays or Lesbians. But I do have a problem with the brainwashing. Our schools do not exist and we do not pay taxes to promote the social agenda of Liberal groups. Nor should our taxes support Conservative social agenda. This is outside of the job the taxpayers pay teachers and schools to do. If you want to teach your children about God or promote homosexuals, that is a parent’s choice. And right. But it is not the job of the schools.
And neither is promoting one political party over another as a teacher in Fairfax, Virginia is doing.
According to the Daily Caller:
A Virginia elementary school teacher told her students that “Republicans are stupid” and “they don’t care about anyone but wealthy people and businesses.”
Kristin Martin said this to her 6th grade class as Republican voters were filing into the halls of Powell Elementary School in Fairfax County to vote on Super Tuesday.
“It all started when this disabled kid came in and named all the Republicans candidates for Super Tuesday,” one student told The Daily Caller. “She [Martin] said to him, ‘I don’t like them, I think that they are stupid.’”
Martin’s statements were “brainwashing” students, according to one mother, who said she is a Republican and asked not to be named to protect her daughter from retaliation.
“I felt like the teacher was brainwashing naive, young children to believe people like me, my family and, to a certain extent, my daughter, were stupid,” she told TheDC via email.
The mother came forward with her daughter’s story after TheDC first reported on another Fairfax County teacher who instructed his students to conduct opposition research on Republican candidates for president. (RELATED: Va. middle-schoolers assigned opposition research on GOP candidates)
Additionally, her daughter relayed that Martin told the classroom that she had voted for Obama and that “Democrats do more for the community and schools.”
This teacher would have most likely been fired if she spoke against Barack Obama or any Democrat. But because most of the people to whom she answers share the same political leaning in all likelihood, she will probably be taken aside and told to pretend she was reprimanded and asked to be more subtle when promoting the school’s agenda.
And the parent fears retaliation against her child so she did not want to have her name published. What kind of environment have these liberals created for our children? The teachers and administrators have become bullies to anyone that does not share their liberal views. And perhaps the teachers know what I was trying to expose with “No Name Calling Week”. It is not about the names that the liberals call people. It is about the ones they disagree with. It is fine for a Teacher to belittle the views of a 6th grader who happens to be Conservative as long as we respect the groups that vote Democrat.
What a crock! How are kids supposed to respect teacher when the teachers bully and belittle them until they either shut up or change their views.
I talk to school administrators and teachers frequently. When I did a series of articles exposing the anti-Christian – pro-Islam bias in the Virginia SOL’s, I spoke to several fairly high ranking administrators who whispered that they agree with me but fear reprisals if the “come out” as a Conservative.
And teachers who happen to be conservative are afraid to admit it and careful of who they tell when the do admit they are Conservative. But the liberals never have to worry about letting their political views “slip”. Because they are all expected to share the view that only Democrats want to educate children and Republicans hate kids, or some such nonsense.
This has to end. Our schools are supported 100% by taxpayer dollars. These dollars may come from Local, State or Federal sources, but they all come from taxpayer’s pockets. The environment in our schools is poisoned. It is tainted with the stench of politics. The fact that the politics is that of the far left is annoying, but any political agenda that filters down into the school is simply unacceptable. From the Principal to the classroom, politics has no place there whatsoever.
This teacher, Kristin Martin, should be fired. And the people on the right should listen to the words of the late Andrew Breitbart. CALL THEM OUT! Call out these hypocrites. When you see a double standard, say something.
I said something.
Dear Ms Martin;
I want to politely let you know that I do not appreciate your
poisoning children’s minds with your politics. My tax dollars pay you
to teach Virginia’s children a core curriculum that does not include
your personal political views.
The fact that your supervisors and superiors most likely have the same
point of view probably means you will escape repercussions for your
reprehensible statements in the classroom, but I am urging the state
to consider terminating or suspending you from teaching.
And it is absolutely intolerable that you have created such a hostile
environment in your classroom that the parent who “blew the whistle”
on you is afraid of repercussions against her child if you knew who
that parent was.
My heart goes out to the children who are forced to suffer in such a
