At times in life there are opportunities where you and I can really make a difference in our nation’s government. Today is one of those moments.
Our nation is in crisis. Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi are imposing socialist programs at breathtaking speed, and there has been little effective Republican opposition. This moment demands principled, articulate leadership. That’s why I want to introduce you to Feda Morton, a lady who has been extremely impressive to me as a woman of faith and a lover of freedom.
Last year we lost a tremendous champion of freedom and the faith of our Founding Fathers when we lost Virgil Goode as Congressman in Virginia’s 5th District, by 727 votes. Now, instead of representing the values of his constituents, liberal Democrat Tom Perriello has been a rubber stamp for the socialist policies of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.
It is our duty to return a truly conservative congressman to office in Virginia’s 5th District, one who stands for the God-given principles of life and liberty. I believe I have met the perfect person to win back this crucial seat.
I had the privilege of meeting Feda Morton some time ago, and was very impressed not only by her resume, but by her understanding and knowledge of the issues of our day, and her commitment to the ideal that “we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights” as her guide her in policymaking. Our Founders believed this-so does Feda.
Feda has long been a champion of conservative principles, standing up to those in her own Republican Party who were determined to move the party away from these principles.
She has been a homeschooling mom, a career teacher in Fluvanna County schools, and a winning coach. She has served in elective office as a school board member and Republican county chairman for many years, serving in my campaign and the campaigns of Ollie North and George Allen, among many others.
While serving as Chairman she built a strong, thriving, principled Republican party in Fluvanna County-one of the areas of the 5th District that has a lean history of Republican activity.
She already has the support of conservative leaders across Virginia, including Republican National Committeewoman Kathy Terry, former Republican Party of Virginia chairman Pat McSweeney, and me.
But what most impresses me about Feda is her commitment to her faith and her basic approach to government. She is not embarrassed by our national motto that we are one nation under God-in fact, she believes this in an unshakeable manner. Unlike President Obama, she would never make a speech in a foreign nation denying the Christian heritage that has so richly blessed this nation. Yet, like the early Virginians who led the way for the advancement of religious liberty as an example to the whole world, Feda is absolutely committed to religious liberty for every person of every faith.
She is one of the rare people seeking to go to Congress who actually believes in all of the principles of the Constitution which limit the power of government to control our faith, our speech, our press, and our pocketbooks. The voting record of the current congressman demonstrates that he does not believe in the concept of limited government. He fully embraces the liberal mantra that government must provide for all of our needs to save us from ourselves.
Other candidates may be considering this race, but Feda Morton offers the tough, principled leadership that is our best chance to win back this crucial seat. She is a refreshing, all-too-uncommon straight shooter who doesn’t deal in the typical political “nuance”; she simply tells it like it is, and is guided by her core beliefs. She is an impressively articulate spokesperson for our values.
But, a successful campaign will have to raise money quickly in order to compete against the millions of dollars the left will pour in to keep this seat. Virgil Goode was defeated by an all-out financial assault against him, led by George Soros, and Hillary Clinton’s fundraising machine. The left cannot afford to allow a staunchly pro-life, articulate conservative woman like Feda to be elected. The whole weight of the Obama/Pelosi/Soros money machine will be thrown at us.
To compete, Feda must raise a substantial amount of money, and that is where I come in! I am asking you to do two things for me:
First, call Feda and introduce yourself to her, and I am sure you will be as impressed as I am. Please feel free to use my name in your conversation with her. She can be reached at 434-953-5274, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Secondly, I am asking you to pray, then give her campaign as much as you can, up to the legal limit of $4,800 (for a couple). Our nation is at a crossroads. There is no time for delay. This moment in history, like that of the Founders, demands our sacrifice for freedom. Your early contribution, made payable to “Feda for Congress,” will give our race a tremendous boost right out of the starting block.
Every grassroots campaign needs yard signs, flyers and money for mailings. And yes, beating back Obama and Pelosi will require lots of TV advertising too.
Your gift today of $4800, $2400, $1000, $500, $100 or even $50 will help us raise the vital “early seed money” we need to successfully launch this campaign. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by December 1, and I ask for your support in helping us rise to this great challenge.
Please visit Feda’s website, www.fedaforcongress.com, and make your contribution today to help Feda Morton bring our shared values of life, liberty, faith, and limited government back to Washington.
I look forward to working with you in this vital effort. Thank you for caring enough to sacrifice for freedom. Your support will carry us back to victory next November!
Yours for Freedom,
P.S. This will be one of the hottest races in America in 2010. We need your committed support right away to combat the Obama/Pelosi/Soros money machine. Please join “Team Feda” today, by sending your most generous possible contribution of $4800, $2400, $1000, $500, $100, or even $50 TODAY! Thank you!
(Remember to make all checks payable to “Feda for Congress,” P.O. Box 122, Scottsville, VA 24590).
