GO SEE NO at the WESTHAMPTON through THURSDAY! GREAT MOVIE – could be how LIBERTY message comes to USA!

I was at the 935 showing of the Chilean movie NO tonight (Did any of my readers see me?) and it is a great movie.  I would agree that there were some technical issues that might offend movie purists – the use of written out and seemingly crudely drawn credits and the 1988 technology cameras but I think that was a brilliant touch by director Pablo Larrain – art imitating life so to speak!  (The NO side did not have the same technology available to the YES side!)  The main actor (Gael Garcia Bernal who played Rene Saavedra) was superb; he should be in a Hollywood movie.  So was Pascal Montero, who played the boy, Simon.  Also the fearlessness of Rene’s wife, Veronica (Antonia Zegers) in facing the police batons was impressive.  Rene’s boss at the advertising agency, a key player in the YES campaign, Lucho Guzman (Alfredo Castro), was a fascinating and complex character – both being the politico wheeling and dealing with Pinochet’s minister but also admiring the idealism of Rene in the NO campaign.  There is a surprise ending.  Not whether NO wins but how it happens.

Chile, happiness is coming!  And it can come to the USA – if we embrace LIBERTY, PEACE , NON-INTERVENTION, the CONSTITUTION, and SOVEREIGNTY!  NO can show us the way!  Here is the Fandango website for the Westhampton and here is the NO website.  I am tempted to go again!  I think you better go while you can this week (through Thursday and there was only about ten people there at 935).  I will warn you – there is a is a lot of profanity and it is written out in the subtitles.  I have decided that written out cuss words are more offensive than the words just being heard!  But it was not gratuitous.  No sex scenes per se but there is an amusing martial bedroom scene where the YES side tried to take a page from the NO book, so to speak, by saying that wives would say YES more often  if Chile voted YES!

Here’s my prior posts on NO the movie.  I’ll definitely get the DVD when it comes out.
