GUEST POST from CHEF PAUL ELBLING for WHITLOCK from SENATE

I received this from the Whitlock campaign – he has this endorsement from a famous chef:  Chef Paul Elbling.  Elbling’s bio is right here:

Paul Elbling was born August 1940 in Alsace, France. In 1953 Paul started a three year apprenticeship, after which he began getting practical experience by working in several well known places including the Summer Season at the famous Carlton Hotel in Cannes, France. From September 1959 through August 1962, Elbling was in the French Army during the Algerian War. In 1962 he became Chef at the Das Alten Golden Kreutz in the posh resort city of Baden-Baden, Germany. In 1964 Chef Paul received his European Master Chef Degree.

Paul married in France and came to the United States in 1967 where he served as Chef in the Restaurant Chez Francois in Washington, D.C. Later he served as Executive Chef in the Washington Hotel until 1970 when Chef Paul moved to Richmond, Virginia, where he was owner and Executive Chef of La Petite France.

I am impressed – I ought to take Nina to this restaurant!  (Update:  it may be closed)  And Chef Elbling has proper respect for the Hanover Tomato:

That makes me hungry!  But read on first…

I don’t know if you have noticed, but one of the candidates running for the state senate is doing something positively refreshing: he’s not tearing down his opponents.

Eddie Whitlock is running the kind of campaign we all want, but seldom get.  He’s talking about what he will do if elected rather than what’s wrong with the other candidates.  That’s particularly important in a primary when, supposedly, we are all on the same side.

Eddie’s campaign is based on two things, his service to his community and the Whitlock Test.  His record of community involvement is a given; what I find intriguing is the “test”.  You usually don’t know for sure how anyone is going to vote once in office, but in this case you do.  Not only is the test a useful tool conservatives should use in evaluating legislation, it is an honest reflection of Eddie’s political philosophy.

Simply put, the Whitlock test asks three questions:

  1.  Is it a core function of government?
  2. Can the government do it better than the private sector?
  3. Is the cost the lowest appropriate level with waste and redundancy removed?

If the answer is yes to all of the above, then Eddie will support it in the state senate.  If the answer is “no” then Eddie will oppose it.  No tricks, no word games, just good conservative common sense.

That’s why Eddie has my vote in the June 9 th primary.

Sincerely,

Chef Paul Elbling

  1. Bob says:

Love Chef Paul Elbling- good for him for being a Republican.

While Janis and Dunnavant are in the gutter kicking each other in the teeth with their Political Action Committee donor money- and LYING about how they would vote and in Janis’ case- his voting record,

candidates Haley and Whitlock are conducting themselves as gentlemen.

Glad to see a positive Post.

  2. Car Dealer says:

Just received my 5th Glossy Campaign flyer from Eddie Whitlock.

    It states:
“Eddie Whitlock will use the Whitlock Test to fight any expansion of Obamacare as your next state Senator. ”

We the voters don’t want you to apply YOUR TEST, Eddie. We want you to apply the VA CODE and the Constitution.

    You failed MY TEST.

Vote Vince Haley June 9th- a lawyer who knows the Constitution.

  3. I do appreciate and respect Haley – he’s got a pitch perfect radio ad that is powerful. But I think the Whitlock Test is not meant to take the place of Constitutional analysis. But it is clever and useful. Thanks for coming by, Car Dealer.
