Hanover Schools Teaching Students to Blame America for 9/11 With Classroom Video

UPDATE: 9/29/2014 – 1:00 PM

After you read this post, please click on this link to find out what you can do to stop this behavior in our schools…

Update: Tune in to WTVR-6 news this evening (9/29/2014) for an interview I did with the news crew.

First, let me apologize for the graphic image that I used to those who are sickened by what our enemy is doing to Americans. But I want you to be sickened. Just as I am sickened by what is going on in Hanover County schools. Our children are being taught that the radical terrorists may have a valid point in killing innocent Americans.

I have had this story for several days and was informed that there would be a discussion about this at the Hanover Board of Supervisors meeting on 9/24/2014. So I held off publishing this story until I had the opportunity to listen to Hanover School Superintendent Dr. Jamelle S. Wilson answer questions posed by the Hanover Board of Supervisors on a video I had seen that was shown in Hanover Schools on 9/10, a day prior to the anniversary of the terrorist attack on 9/11/2001.

The full video is on Hulu and is about an hour long. (Click here to watch the whole thing if you wish to see it.)

There are also three shorter clips on YouTube where you can view Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 by clicking the appropriate text.

I have a shorter, condensed version that I have edited below to just hear the inflammatory parts of the first 12 minutes of the video which was what the schools claim to have shown. Wilson mentioned 20 minutes, but we are just going to look at the first 12.

But before you watch any of the versions of this video, take a look at the video below this text. MRCTV visited the campus of George Mason University in Virginia with a fake petition in support of ISIS, the terror group that has beheaded at least two Americans, a Brit and probably many more. They have left a murderous trail, even beheading children. These are not nice people. Prepare to be astonished as you see at least a dozen American students sign the petition asking President Obama to support ISIS.

And after you watch this example, I will show you how America’s kids are brainwashed in our schools – even in Conservative Hanover County – to the point their minds allow them to urge support for terrorists.

First the George Mason Video:

You may now pick your jaw up off the floor. And while a few students were properly outraged, those that signed the petition are a product of the liberal agenda being skillfully and stealthily implemented in our schools in America and right here in Hanover.

But how could kids that grew up in good homes, taught by their parents to love America do something as utterly self destructive as sign a petition to support our enemies?

Hanover County Public Schools have led the way in teaching our kids to blame America for 9/11 by showing this videos, disguised as an open discussion on terrorism and an academic exercise in understanding why terrorists found it necessary to kill innocent American civilians.

If you preface horrific beliefs and thoughts with phrases like “I don’t agree with killing innocents but …”, this stealthily crafted syntax gives people like Superintendent Wilson plausible deniability when they are called on to explain how such garbage could be forced on the pliable captive minds in Hanover Schools.

For when you start a sentence with “I’m not a sexist but …” the remainder of that sentence will inevitably be a sexist statement. Same with racism.

And no matter how many times you say “I don’t agree with what they did but …” you are, in fact, justifying the bloody attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon as well as the hijacked planes as something America deserved.

And when you present this to students in the context of understanding why these terrorists massacred Americans, it is both intentional and inevitable that this type of approach will elicit sympathy for our enemies from our children. And that is the intended outcome of showing this video.

Watch this edited version where I have taken out most of the “I don’t agree with what they did, but …” statements so that you can hear the thoughts and ideas Wilson is pushing out to our kids. And lest I be accused of editing this “out of context” the links mentioned above are unedited. It is clear to me that these Arabs in the video were coached to tone down the rhetoric because almost all of them prefaced their thoughts with an “I don’t agree” statement, and then go on to tell you why killing Americans was a good thing.

So are you happy to allow this point of view to be disseminated to your children? Especially knowing that this was the only video shown. No video showing the beheadings were shown. No video documenting the thousands of rockets that have been launched at Israel was played. And none of the horrors committed by these terrorists were shown. No people jumping to their deaths from the World Trade Center were seen. The atrocities that led to the “Arab Anger” were not mentioned. In fact, to a child that does not know better, you would think that America killed Arabs for fun. Without reason or provocation.

And that is the message that Wilson apparently intended for the kids to receive. And I say that because I sat through almost 10 minutes of listening to this woman try to defend showing this video to the kids in front of the Board of Supervisors. And she used all of the arguments I expected someone in Academia to use when they are caught red-handed preaching “Blame America” theology in our schools.

Prior to being called on the carpet for this “Blame America” video, Wilson gave a presentation on the status of the Hanover Schools. She was articulate and never stumbled on the presentation. And she had no notes as far as I could tell. I have never met Wilson nor heard her speak. My impression is that she is skilled in her ability to spin the facts. As she progressed through the slides, she manipulated the board and most in the room with phrases such as “let me draw your eyes to the section labeled …”, a phrase that immediately focuses my eyes on anything but where she wants me to look. And like a good magician, her sleight of tongue gymnastics successfully focused attention on the good news while failing to mention the bad news, like the year to year test scores for the last couple of years were actually trending downward, but you had to look fast as she diverted attention and advanced through the less impressive data with the skill of a trained illusionist. Note to the Board of Supervisors – this woman pulled the wool over your eyes and you never knew what happened. Only Mechanicsville Supervisor Canova Peterson caught the fact that Hanover has over 17,000 students and serves only around 7,000 lunches. There were more nuggets in those slides that you guys missed.

And as the video below shows, the articulate, well prepared spinstress Wilson was noticeably rattled. Gone was the smooth as silk flow of the previous presentation and the sputtering and unsure Wilson presented quite a juxtaposition on the heels of her polished presentation. And this time she had notes.

Wilson proceeds to justify this video by stating that the SOL’s require a certain understanding of terrorism. She enumerates several such as car bombings, the Munich Olympic bombings and 9/11. And while the SOL’s may require that these things be taught, and they should be taught, nowhere in the SOL’s is it required to understand and sympathize with those that claim unashamed to want to kill Americans and end our way of life. And as a taxpayer I reject her defense of this video on these grounds.

The goal, according to Wilson, was to present different views. But it is completely inappropriate to present the views of the enemy without balancing that with video of the suffering they caused to innocent people and the fact that every bomb we have dropped and every missile we have fired was in response to nightclub bombings, US Ships and barracks being attacked, hotels destroyed and homicide bombings in markets and public places.

Wilson fails to explain why the terrorists views were aired on 9/10, a totally inappropriate day for inappropriate content. Wilson states that the goal was to offer differing opinions so they could consider those. Opinions of people who hate America, hate our freedom and hate our Christian beliefs.

Wilson states that the lessons are planned around important dates, such as D-Day. And that leaves me wondering if our children are being taught that Antisemitism and the efforts to exterminate Jews are part of the discussions.

And that is what this is. It is the moral equivalent to teaching our children why Nazi’s believed the Jews had to be killed, and explaining the virtues of genocide.

Or to put it in terms Wilson could better understand, I wonder if she would deem it appropriate to teach the kids the thoughts and views of slave owners on Lincoln’s Birthday.

And if you don’t watch the entire video, please advance to the 6 minute mark and listen to the stirring words from Mechanicsville Supervisor Canova Peterson. Peterson is a Vietnam Vet and well remembers the battlefield. He points out that the enemy he was ordered to fight were all military – and not civilians.

Conclusion:

Hanover Schools can and should do better. When an obviously controversial topic like presenting “other views” from people that applauded and cheered as Americans died, parents ought to be informed. When things like this are discussed in a classroom of captive students without an advance warning that they were about to be exposed to radical views in order to better understand terrorists who murdered us and will do so again, parents ought to be outraged. This is completely intolerable.

Now I would be somewhat less outraged if the students were allowed to look at the picture of the beheaded journalist I posted with this article. And then told “The people who do this kind of thing are going to explain why they think they have the right to kill Americans.” At least show the insane brutality of the enemy Dr. Wilson wants the students to “get to konw”.

Superintendent Wilson should know better than to try to defend this radical extremism. There was no excuse for showing this video to children and this is one method used to turn out a generation of damaged people who are morally unable to determine groups like ISIS are terrorists. And the schools are to blame for every student that signed that petition at George Mason University.

Hanover Schools are going to turn out a crop of people that will sympathize with those who vow to kill us.

This is not an education. It is indoctrination. And these kids suffer from what can only be called Stockholm Syndrome.

Shame on Dr. Wilson for defending this rubbish. And thanks to Sean Davis for taking the heat to do what is right for America.

this is being taught because the parents don’t care enough to be bothered with the school system where their kids are being taught

    blaming the teachers?
how about the parents that allow it?

Amen – This is among many reasons why I pulled my kids out of the public indoctrination system 8 years ago.

Some of us don’t have the means to pull our children out of the “public indoctrination system”. I know & trust that my children won’t be so easily persuaded by such a ridiculous video because I have done my job as a Christian mother.

  3. Bob Shannon says:

Is anyone really surprised by this ? What is it that shocks you ? Parents are not paying attention ? That is hardly news. We know that public schools and their permanent educrats have bought into the slow insidiously evil concept of ” no boundaries, sovereignty doesn’t matter–we are one world crap, so stop acting surprised by this. It is their mantra, it is ……

” shut your mouth, & comply if you want to keep your cushy overpaid w/ Cadillac benefits job ” Forget all of the rest because it is the PLAN.

Now, who in Hanover is the opposition ? Where are the members of the School Board on this ? Disband the damn school boards because they no longer serve a purpose, unless of course it is to rubber stamp the Superintendents budget request each year. When have you heard even one of them raise hell , about anything ? Why is it always AFTER THE FACT ?

Back to the opposition. Some of us get it and understand how deadly serious this is. No stop should be pulled in our drive to address this–the opposition, where are they, who are they.

Let me explain—the opposition in Hanover is dead, yes that is correct, they are dead. The Patriot movement was built to attack this very type of situation. What are members of the Mechanicsville and Patrick Henry TEA Party up to ? What happened to the “School Liaison” the MTP installed in 2013 for these very reasons.

Well, if you haven’t been paying attention they are all busy in their hero worshipping of their newest political savior, forgetting the last hero political savior and what a terrible disappointment he worked out to be. Focus, or the total lack of focus can’t explain it in it’s entirety. No fewer than 6 TEA Party signs should be put up within days around Hanover ripping the head off Ms. Wilson and the school board when something like this takes place.

Instead these fools are running around putting up campaign signs and getting ready to attend their coming worshipfest scheduled for this weekend.

Campaign staffs are the ones who put up the campaign signs, it is and should remain a totally separate operation from the operation of the local TEA Party groups. Instead the PAC’s and the party establishment types have manipulated these folks into doing their work—while Rome burns. I am certain that the quasi religious and historical quotes I read now when I pass these TEA Party signs really has Dr. Wilson shaking in her boots.

The old adage ” who’s minding the store” comes to mind. It was the role the TEA Party groups were supposed to play, instead they have morphed into partisan slaves for the masters. It would have made a wonderful message on that big MTP TEA Party sign on 295. Oh my, I forgot some village idiot cut that down. But hey, I am sure his masters were pleased. He will probably get some sort of anointment for doing their bidding—while at the same time our children’s young minds are being poisoned.

The opposition, or what their was is gone.

Yes by all means that’s what we need, more hideous (albeit moronic) tea party signs around our lovely county.

And once you take off your tin foil hat and stop your constant rah rah patriotism you would realize that no matter why they attacked us on 9/11 some 13+ years ago there are in fact two sides to every story. All this teacher did was present outside opinion on the cause of 9/11 which apparently isn’t filled with enough “America never does anything wrong” that you are accustomed to.

Next up why don’t we just start banning books that don’t fit your and almost everybody on this sites narrow view points.

      • J.Woodson Is a Dick says:

  4. Daryl Carr says:

The time has come for an elected school board that will answer to the people.

  5. Bob Shannon says:

Anyone who knows me knows I have the utmost respect for Tom Whites views and opinions.

That said I can say that here in King William where School Board members are in fact elected it has not made one iota of difference. The waste , and their unwillingness to ever challenge publically the Superintendents budget is just one such example, and I could cite others.

One of our Supervisors told me a few years ago when I was arguing that the school budget request be reduced he said to me and I quote

” Well Mr. Shannon, after we give them the money we have no control over how they spend it” which I replied, ” Well then give them less, that sounds pretty easy”

The political will to stand up to the schools , having the backbone to weather the onslaught of cries from the usual suspects is something that requires a modicum of guts. A quality terribly lacking today in public officials.

The “bloated size alone of the public schools and all of the attending people they directly employ” make them a formidable voting constituency that many of these elected officials are politically terrified of. When the County budget a few years back was rumored to contain even small cuts to the 4 schools in KW, the number of school employees filled the room to capacity , and Supervisor Otto Williams apparently wet his pants and changed his vote to give them the larger budget request.

Think of how inappropriate it was to begin with, a turnout like that was orchestrated by school officials who round up their employees like cattle and marched them to a public meeting, surely telling them ‘ we might have to cut a few jobs , and one of them might be yours” Had I been on the Board at that time I would have told them to go fly a kite. Otto Williams apparently does not have the stomach for that.

One of the concerns I have heard from localities that have moved to elected school boards is that when running for election, the winner is usually the one that promises new computers, new classrooms, free lunches and promises the most free stuff. The loser is usually the one that talks about the bloated administration and wasted dollars. Unelected board members have no real accountability as they are only accountable to the BOS member that appointed them. And since the appointee is usually a close friend or campaign worker, it is not very likely the BOS member will make them walk the line. It seems to be a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of thing.

    Tom,

As I mentioned the other day I am normally a “glass half full ” type of guy. Increasingly however I am reminded of the old adage

‘we get the government we deserve”

Perhaps some of us just have to be more patient until citizens rise up and voice their opinions and objections to what is going on. Maybe as someone said to me a few years back people have yet to feel enough pain

Anyone attending BOS meetings, school Board meetings, planning commission meetings—the room is almost empty other than the government and public sector folks ,the lack of any citizen involvement bodes poorly for our future. Ironic as it is, by the time citizens wake up to the fact it may then be too late. Let’s at least hope not.

  7. Mike says:

So, you’re saying it’s wrong for a teacher to show a viewpoint that isn’t American? Do really think the teacher is trying to brainwash the kids by opening their eyes to how the rest of the world sees us? If anything, he teaching them to dig for the truth. School is for learning how to find the answer. Would the teacher have gotten in trouble if he said, “Hey, the US has pissed a lot of people off and those people just so happen to be crazy. Expect crazy retaliation.”?
Do you want teachers that follow the same bland methods of learning and curriculum, or do you want teachers that will show students what’s beyond the box?
Anyone who is upset by this guys’ actions to show whatever he showed to students, just relax. Seriously ask yourself if you think he’s a terrorist trying to brainwash his students. The answer is no, right? Good.

    • Tom White says:

Mike – One sentence in your post give away your identity. “If anything, he teaching them to dig for the truth”.
He? Most people assume that when you mention a generic teacher it is a “she”.
How did you know it was a male? It does not say in the article. And I don’t know the sex of the offending teacher.

As Sherlock Holmes would say, it is a simple deduction to know that you are either the teacher who showed the video, or a close friend attempting to justify brainwashing kids.

I have kept a close eye on Hanover schools for years. Back in 2012 I caught them sneaking in the gay agenda and exposed that.
      http://www.varight.com/news/mechanicsville-elementry-school-pushes-gay-and-lesbian-agenda-on-pre-teen-kids-in-hanover/

And in 2011 I blew the whistle on how the Va SOL’s have been used to indoctrinate kids in the joys of the religion of pieces – as in chopped into pieces – with a 3 part series.

      http://www.varight.com/news/virginia-public-schools-using-sols-to-indoctrinate-children-in-islamic-theology-and-purge-christianity-part-i/

I have become an expert at exposing the leftist agenda being used to subtly brainwash our kids into homosexualism – which gets it’s foot in the door with anti-bullying campaigns. Who could object to that, right? And each year the gay lobby breaks down the kids resistance to homosexuality and by High School – or even before – they are in full recruitment mode. The gay lobby has absolutely no right to contact our kids.

And Friedman uses some of the same techniques that the homosexual groups use. If he says “I deplore this” a few times, it gives whacko’s like you cover to call it an academic exercise and you use the same arguments the gay lobby uses to brainwash kids to their agenda.

We send kids to school to learn to be Americans. Not to be sympathizers with killers and terrorists. The terrorist mindset is skillfully and sympathetically explained in the Video and it was presented in such a way as to push kids to blame America.

Do you need another example? Look at the Oklahoma beheading. This guy is 30 and was in High School when 9/11 happened. Your “Blame America” agenda was taught to him and he was taught to be sympathetic to terrorists.

THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO OUR KIDS.

And this is why I shine a light on what you are doing.

So far, over 5,000 people have read this post. Hanover schools are on notice. And I simply don’t trust the liberal agenda being taught by you sneaky liberals.

Tom, if your detective skills are anything like your “expertise”, I’ll just disregard everything you say and so should everyone that reads your backwoods rhetoric and theories.
I have no affiliation with the teacher or the school system. I just ran across this page from a friend who shared it. I use “he” as a default, I also think I read somewhere that it was a he, but I have no idea and it really doesn’t matter. Nothing gave me away. You are coming to irrational conclusions, just as you have done with this whole debate, as well as everything you claim to have “exposed”. Again, telling me that you’re not an “expert”.
I have conservative views, as well as liberal ones. I’m open minded and I actually applaud you for your passion. It’s nice to see, but I think it’s making you a bitter ad angry person. Keywords “I think”. Your anger jumps of the page and is almost hard to read. People can not think clearly when they’re angry.

You brought up yet another topic, homosexuality. This just throws you into the folder marked “absolutely crazy”. You really, truly believe someone is going to turn gay, because of anything taught in school about the matter? I mean, really? I know it wouldn’t have that effect on me. So, what are they really trying to do then? Possibly talk about the existence of different viewpoints like religion, culture and sexual preference? THE EXISTENCE. This stuff does exist. I’m not saying everything that exist should be talked about obviously, but in this case, I don’t see the issue. I promise you, there’s a high probability that there isn’t some secret club where teachers and the liberal leaders in politics get together and conspire to “brainwash” our children into being gay or changing their names to Ahamaed and Ali.
Also, AMERICAN culture is not about white people dude. Remember that in history class? A Spainard named Christopher Columbus? That’s right, dem dang immigrants were trying to find a better life all the way back then. Dang ol Mexicans man.

        I digress.

Fun talk. I’m going to eat some lunch

It is gramatically correct in most cases to use a male pronoun when the gender is unknown.

    • Ashley says:

      I agree with this wholeheartedly.

The fact that these people don’t want their children to be able to think critically or come to conclusions by themselves scares me. We are raising a generation to bow to the propaganda of Faux news. Sieg Heil…

  8. Hanover Dad says:

I’m confused by your inclusion of the video clip of the Superintendent. I didn’t think she was a slick spintress nor did I think she was flustered, rather I thought Chairman Davis got pretty tongue tied in this clip. The issue I most want answered in this whole episode, which I can’t seem to find anywhere, is context. I can only imagine that the teacher did have a discussion about the motives of the 9/11 terrorists and how those acts were perceived in the Arab world as well as within the USA. My experience in Hanover county has been that our social studies teachers are actually pretty conservative and even handed. Has anyone spoken to the teacher?

This has me livid as a parent ! Wth do you people get off doing this ! I’m appualed that it is even shown to children in Hanover county . my child will not be viewing this bs if they decide to show them . shame on you making it out like 911 attacks were our fault ! You have no right ! This is very distasteful ! The school broads should be fired including any staff members envovled . I will be more than happy to protest .god bless america

    • J.Woodson says:

Well to be honest, your spelling is a better case as to why teachers should be fired. Also sorry is your high school age delicate little snowflake of a child can’t think for themselves and reach their own conclusions about world events and possible causes of them.
I can’t even begin to think of why you think we were attacked but I can guarantee we had more to do with being attacked than you think.

  10. Bob Shannon says:

    Dear Mike,

This point you raise may indeed be valid perhaps at the college level where students may have enough world experience to form their own balanced perspective. As a father of 3 children now adults all, I encourage them to listen to all points of view. That said I also have 12 grandchildren from 13–down to newborns, and none of them could watch this and have any real appreciation for any relevant point, which then renders something like this inappropriate for K-12 classrooms.

Take the evidence of declining test scores in math ,reading, science and ask this simple question. What is Hanover schools even doing when this time could be better spent on remedial training, addressing our clear deficiencies in core subject matter. I want my grandkids to be proficient in these subjects a lot more than I care about how much they may have learned about U.S foreign policy blunders, especially when presented in such a slanted & biased manner.

Or perhaps the School Board members just might better spend their time evaluating curriculum and all video materials in advance so as to avoid this happening again.

    Bob Shannon

    • Ashley says:

Focusing only on remedial training and SOL scores is why our students are suffering. I was exposed to things like this on an 8th grade level in private school… I switched to public school and the generic response became, “durrrr… is this gonna be on the SOL?” even in 10th and 11th grades, when students should be developing the critical thinking skills to prepare them for college.

I think this teacher was brilliant to include this. He (or she, the author seems to forget that when gender is unknown it is gramatically correct to use male pronouns) said this is why they THINK they have a right to attack us. They are asking the students to question why these terrorists are developing, if our continued involvement in these countries is hurting more than helping, and more.

With the scary, sad state of our world we NEED educated individuals who can think critically and assess a situation using videos from actual sources rather than biased news reports. Left and right, Faux news to CBS… they are all leaning one way or another these days. These kids should be thankful they have a teacher who is still making them think instead of glance at mind numbing repetitive slides on a smart board.

  11. Gleb Taran says:

Shame on Hanover County! The terrorists have no valid point of view, just like no U.S. born murderers have a valid point of view worth considering! This is another example of the “third-wordling” of America!

  12. Leslie Z. says:

Listen folks, anytime you put a liberal in charge of anything, this is the kind of crap you end up with.

Why not teach the young impressionable mind what we know without doubt, that America has given more time, money, and resources to the World than ALL other countries combined? America is Great b/c America is good!
    http://www.SamaritansPurse.org

Why not use ORIGINAL source documentation to teach them the truth about the history of their country in an accurate way? http://Www.Wallbuilders.com/links.asp

Why not have them TRULY “see all sides” and have them watch “America” which uses factual documentation to refute all the big liberal lies the America haters have spun and contrived into revisionists history?
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2785390/

God Bless the United States of America!

  13. Bob Shannon says:

Remember when public schools taught the 3 R’s ? I am 60 years old and the lessons on sexuality, political points of view , or contemporary race relations came from my Church and family.

In light of the rather dismal test scores and American students continuing decline maybe , ( let’s not forget what we spend ) just maybe we should get back to the basics and keep the schools out of subject material either inappropriate to begin with or matters best left to the churches and families.

Math, reading & science. remain free from the level of subjective reasoning it requires when you get into some of these other matters. As I raised the point before, most children do not have the world/life experience as a backdrop yet to process and come to their own perspective.

Much of this would indeed be quite proper in a college classroom setting , but K-12, not in my opinion.
    Bob Shannon

    • Ashley says:

How are we going to prepare our children for college if we only teach them to run around like mice in a little maze instead of thinking critically for themselves? This is why I see pathetic individuals in community college who slid by this mind numbing idiocracy we call the public school system who had no idea how to critically analyze anything.

  14. Bob Shannon says:

Reading Classical literature, writing lengthily book reports and essays were the “critical thinking ” teaching methods in years gone by. Do kids read any classical literature today ? Debate Teams, Essay Contests in Civics and Social Studies.

Once you inject Foreign Policy , which in and of itself is a topic that lends to very ingrained opinions you almost lose the very purpose of teaching anything about critical thinking. Let me remind everyone we are currently at war with these folks.

America has as has any Nation made mistakes, but on balance name what students are taught today about American Exceptionalism. One of the folks who responded earlier mentioned the Documentary Film ” America” Any chance that is about to be rolled out in Hanover classrooms ?

Does showing something like this breed what we are now seeing, citizens traveling abroad to fight against the U.S. ?

One question jumps almost instantly out when the comment is made about students attending college who have no critical thinking skills ?? How did in the 19th-20th Century America rise to such economic prosperity , if as you suggest the student coming out of public schools were somehow void of critical thinking. It is indeed just the opposite today, setting aside International test score declines, a recent report by one of the think tanks shown that many businesses are declining to set up shop in the U.S and their number one reason is the intellectual decline in general among American society. You can not miss it today when you see the “man in the street ” interviews clearly indicating the level of ignorance almost rampant, even on college campuses.

It was said about 8-10 years ago of todays incoming college freshmen, some 40% of them could not have passed University admission standards from the 1950-60’s. Your comments suggest somehow that critical thinking was missing until today, when apparently it was not if those findings mean anything.,

On SOL’s and No Child Left Behind ( NCLB) I seem to detect that any of these processes used as a measuring stick for how our kids are doing today always seem to incur the wrath of broad swaths of public school teachers. Just what quantifiable means of measuring actual progress would meet with teachers approval ? One could conclude any manner of measuring their progress almost always is not wanted or welcomed by todays teachers.

For 20 years 1992-2012, of all the items the Federal Government funds, K-12 was the largest single funding increases over that 20 year period. Copies of this report ( Heritage Foundation ) was distributed last year to the School Superintendent, all members of Hanover School Board and each School Principal in Hanover. A copy was also given to each of the members of the Hanover B.O.S. Certainly money isn’t an issue here, and curriculum should have some oversight, with parents opinions playing into the ultimate decisions. After all they are paying for it, and it is their children.

I love how Ashley rushes to defend the teaching of terrorist propaganda , decries “Faux” news and doesn’t have a word to say about the hyperbolic lies that flow like a river from MSNBC and all the spin from other libtard news media outlets. ashley , you’re pathetic . We can see though that you are committed terrorist loving sympathizer . You probably don’t mind female genital mutilation and hate it when Christian celebrate Christmas . you’re fully indoctrinated communist trash and I hope you are in no way involved with our education system you knuckldragging rube .

    • J.Woodson says:

Yes and no better way to get your ill informed point across than being a giant asshole. Congrats on reaching across the aisle.

  16. Wendy says:

First, I want to say that at the present time, I can’t see any of the videos.

As a former teacher, I understand the desire to present other points of view; however, when dealing with something as fresh and sensitive as terrorists and ISIS, the teacher should have presented a balanced picture. Do we know that he didn’t? Do we know that the discussion following the video did not include a robust discussion about what happened on 9/11?

Certainly, a robust discussion has taken place here and I’ve learned some things because of the passionate viewpoints of the commentators. Can we assume that this did not take place in the classroom?

Perhaps the video is extreme, again I can’t see it right now, and the teacher should have shown better judgement. I don’t know. I do know that this brought shocking news and got people talking. Isn’t that what critical thinking is all about?

  17. Concerned Student says:

I just love the ignorance in this post. The lack of knowledge about what goes on in Hanover schools today gives me a headache. In all 13 years of my high school career, they never once told me to blame America for 9/11. Nor have they taught us about any other terrorist attacks. Every year around 9/11, we would remember and learn about what happened on that day. Never did we say it was America’s fault for what happened that day. We talked about the facts: It happened on 9/11, The planes crashed into the WTC, Pentagon, and a field. Never once did we discuss the motives behind the attacks. Even if some teachers would bring up the motives, it would be an open discussion for CRITICAL THINKING. Critical thinking is much more important than just knowing the facts. You need to know the facts, but you need to think “why are people doing this?” and “why is what is happening, happening?” You can not be a successful student without having an open discussion with your peers about the situation.

It seems to me that most people on this blog whats to restrict a child’s education. So before you post anything like this: Don’t be ignorant, know about the situation, and THINK CRITICALLY!

    • Hanover Dad says:

This student doesn’t sound brainwashed to me. I’m going to assume he/she (don’t want grammar Nazis getting me…oops maybe I shouldn’t reference those guys) had some great teachers, some good teachers, some bad teachers, and some awful teachers in his/her 13 years in HCPS. Public school reflects all the people we have to deal with throughout life (all religions, races, political persuasions, etc.) This video was shown to 15-18 year old young men and women preparing for college. If this had been shown to 10 year old children, there might be a stronger argument.
Did the teacher use questionable judgement showing this clip? Perhaps. But students need to be able to distinguish bias and propaganda. Ultimately this event has served me in teaching my own children about bias, hyperbole, and political pandering. My wife and I are the true teachers of my children. I discuss their school work with them and we sometimes criticize the teachers and the work – we even talk to the teachers about it!
Public schools are public forums. I don’t like all the teachers, pupils, or parents that walk onto campus, but I send my children there so they are prepared for the real world which they must navigate with difficult people.
I attend church each week too and interestingly I don’t always agree with the interpretation of the Word in the sermon. But guess what? I talk about it with my family and other parishioners. Does my questioning and conversation about the Word make me a bad Christian too? I might have to look into that scripture and the first amendment of the Constitution again…

  18. Bob Shannon says:

Had this been for example a video on the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, and what the Japanese perspective / reasoning was for what they did perhaps that may have been a bit more appropriate, given the length of time that has elapsed and the fact that Japan is now one of our strongest allies .

What is being overlooked in this instance is that we are currently today at war with these people in question, and the last thing when a Nation is at war that we should be doing is to be creating sympathizers among our population.

With enough passage of time, and when this is hopefully in our National rear view mirror, like Pearl Harbor then perhaps it may make sense and serve a purpose.

Please remember the fact that young American men & women are currently on foreign soil and in harms way.

  19. Jenna says:

You’re just as sickened by an innocent American man being beheaded as by what is happening in some schools in Hanover County, VA? That’s insane. Period. That doesn’t compare. At all. And as a somewhat recent graduate I find it upsetting that you would even compare the two.

  20. Paul says:

On a much grander scale, we better start getting our young minds to start to “CRITICALLY THINK” about the real truth as it relates to Islam and it’s greater motives:

      • John Louis says:

Apparently you didn’t read the article to it’s conclusion b/c the one I read was written by a counterterrorism counterintelligence officer not by what u call a “fringe right blog”.

        • J.Woodson says:

No, I read it and pardon me but this doesn’t appear to be a blog where any other viewpoint other than that of the Republican base is even expressed. And regardless of who wrote what, this is still a fringe right blog. And these people you defend ARE the fringe right regardless of what they do for a living.

I was born, raised, & educated here in HA. I most say that other than Ashley and Mike, most all of you are clueless.

Most of my teachers seemed conservative but never produced anything substantive that America has ever been exceptional in anyway and has most likely created more problems in the world than it has produced solutions.

America s not great! Wake up folks!

President Obama has elevated our standing in the worlds to it’s highest level ever.

  23. LIBERTY! says:

Far too many rely exclusively upon the messaging of elected leaders, appointed officials and the media to interpret the significance of these news stories. As a result, many are of the opinion these accounts have nothing to do with the “true Islam”.

They’ve been conditioned to believe groups such as ISIS, al Qaeda and Boko Haram have merely “perverted” or “hijacked” the peaceful religion of 1.5 Billion Muslims in order to achieve violent ends.

But what if this characterization is utterly wrong? What if there actually is a direct link among the violence we can watch on YouTube, the theocratic system of governance Islam calls “shariah”, and the jihad (or holy war) demanded of its followers? What if we’ve become so focused upon the horrific kidnappings and beheadings that we don’t notice the covert “cultural jihadists” engaged in non-violent efforts to accomplish the same goal as their more radical counterparts? The truth is – both groups are gaining strategic footholds in the U.S and both seek to implement shariah worldwide under a caliph. Are you as educated as you should be on the subject of Islam?

The 15% – 25% who comprise the more radical element of this ideology hold a complicit 85% captive to the medieval ideas of Muhammad. Islam is not “a peaceful religion hijacked by radical extremists” as we are told. It is, rather, a violent “religion” practiced by many peaceful Muslims who ignore certain aspects of it while embracing it in varying degrees.

Over the course of the past two generations, the rate of negative change in America has accelerated. Because our moral and religious foundations have crumbled, we now occupy a greatly weakened position. A false sense of confidence in our military, our economic strength and our ingenuity has contributed to this decline.

We have become a nation of arrogance and naiveté. Because we consider ourselves invincible, we think it unimportant to drill down and understand Islam. In doing so, we grossly underestimate the threat it poses. And most importantly, although the Church was once considered a source of strong foundational support for society, it now projects moral and cultural compromise to be the highest virtue. As a result, many Christians receive false teachings concerning Islam.

Sadly, some 40,000 – 50,000 Muslims die each day without understanding Jesus came to save them.

    • Hanover Dad says:

Funny how your critique of Islam is sort of like the 15% to 20% of fundamentalist Christian ideology holds a complicit 85% captive to radical Christian notions. Where is the tolerance about not casting stones, doing unto others, forgiveness, and mercy that is the core of Christian teaching in the blind anger against those that are different. Heck Fundamentalist Christians even strike out against their Catholic and other denominational brethren. ***sigh

  24. Bob Shannon says:

    Ms/Mr.J.Woodson,

After my many years engaging in political debate one irrefutable truth that always comes to fruition eventually is the inevitable ignorance displayed with the type of discourse one engages in when one does not have the intellectual gray matter to make their point , absent calling someone names , particularly using that type of language in a public setting.

As to our signs or our right wing posture , please allow me one question. Perhaps at some future point we might take up a series of public debates on a host of public policy issues, and in the event we do , would you entertain sharing with our members your points of view in some greater detail than name calling.

I’ve no doubt you would enthrall our audience with your explanation of specifically how the U.S is to “blame ” for what occurred some 13 years ago. You could perform such a valuable public service and help our members expand their “narrow minds”

By the way the “tin foil hats” reference you allude to served no purpose, beyond a very juvenile attempt to be even more insulting. Insults, talking points, platitudes hardly serve an intellectual discussion. It does however provide an excellent example of how little our opposition really has to say of any consequence or value.

  25. DM says:

Hanover Co residents are hilarious. This teacher probably showed this video to show the importance of considering what our enemy is probably thinking. Not just we’re right because we’re America 100% of the time. If you have such a problem educate your kIds yourself and fill their heads with whatever bs you do just like the parent that pull their kids out of family life. The tea party is useless littering our beautiful county with their atrocious signs. Most of your kids, especially if they go to Hanover High don’t care about this and will not think twice because all they care about is how much money they can make like mommy and daddy. Most of the stupid parents should be focusing on eliminated the obvious racism at many of these schools and the accepting of people who are different and children could probably better understand this video and the reason these things are happening and how to react appropriately. Please by all means Hanover Conservatives begin the attack. I’m a Hanover graduate and an officer in the military and passionate about my job so please begin the attack which is inevitable.

    • Walt Fitzhugh says:

The only “attack” I have to offer is that I fully agree that ALL viewpoints should be considered including mine, which is the same as many others.

Mine being, that the WTC was not attacked by Radical Islamic Muslim extremist but by our own American gov’t hiring contractors to perform the attacks.

Please help me lobby to get my viewpoints included in the Schools for discussion.

      Thank You.

  26. Walt Fitzhugh says:

Yes, let’s consider ALL viewpoints including mine which has a fair # of people with the same as mine which is that it was NOT Radical Islamic Muslim terrorist who took out the WTCs but our own American Gov’t contractors.

Plz help me lobby to get me viewpoint in the school discussion.

    Thank You.

  27. John Rooney says:

    A few points:

    1) If I had children, I wouldn’t allow any public schools to indoctrinate my kids period. Homeschooling or private education is imperative to save America.

    2) I would not begin to assume that the USA is righteous or commands the higher moral ground compared to other nations. Perhaps we did in the past. If anything, we are working in concert with globalists and the Zionists who control the mass media to fill the earth with ungodly filth, corruption, and immorality.

    3) I cannot assume that only the Democrat Party has been corrupted with propaganda and an un-American agenda, for the GOP neoconservatives likewise carry the ball for totalitarian, global government through the police state and perpetual wars of aggression. Only the style and talking points are different.

    4) Neither do I have the slightest trust in the corrupt report foisted upon the American people by the 9-11 Commission, a commission that was dominated by members of the (CFR) Counsel on Foreign Relations. Real investigations on 9-11 point to evidence like thermite explosives in the dust and clear evidence of pre-planned demolition as cited by Architects and Engineers for 9-11 Truth, the experts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQgVCj7q49o

    Core of Corruption –

  28. John Rooney says:

    Part 2 –

    5) I watched the second video and there is much truth in it. Face it, many so called conservatives hate Arabs or Muslims and don’t care if they are killed, beheaded or maimed by explosives at all. Example: Pakistan drone attacks. A Christian leader in a local church recently said, “I think we should just kill them all and let God judge them.” So I ask, when did Jesus or the Apostles ever command us to kill multitudes of people, much less anybody? What about, “Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you?” Is there not already a poorly veiled, yet perceived “Christian jihad” against Muslims taking place? Do you think murder should be condoned because we good Americans are doing it, after all, we or the Israelis are created “more equal than other rabble” There is an awful amount of propaganda along this line that stereotypes and dehumanizes Muslims, making them acceptable targets for theft and government sanctioned murder. Is it wrong for Muslims to dislike being oppressed, killed and maimed through the West’s double standards and meddling? How would you feel, honestly? Is it unreasonable for them to want some revenge?

    6) The Mujahadeen, al Qaeda, al Nusra and ISIS have ALL been supported and encouraged by the West, including the US (CIA), Turkey, Israel, the Saudis, British and other NATO nations. We create the problem, there is a reaction, the solution is invasion, military intervention and bigger government. We are being duped by the media’s pundits and we should NOT let them control the argument. WE should control the argument and that argument is that the US should stop supporting terrorism immediately! We should also mind our own business.

  29. Michelle says:

This whole article could not be more ridiculous. Anyone who actually heard the lesson or I don’t know, was actually informed on what was being taught would not fall for this. I, as a student in an actual Hanover classroom who actually witnessed this so called teaching of american students to take the Muslim side in 9/11 am here to tell you that it was no such thing. Not to mention the horrific image you used as click bate was not in the material shown. You can’t take biased news as if it presents clear facts. smh

    • Tom White says:

Michelle – You actually proved my point. The students in the classes where this video was shown were not told that the characters posing as students were actually actors presenting the script that was written and approved by Al Quaeda. You see, these “students” live in a country where free speech does not exist. In fact, speaking out against the terrorists will get you killed. Either stoned to death or a bullet in the back of the head. This was a propaganda video, pure and simple. And rather than be skeptical of the video and posing the question to your teacher asking if this video can possibly give honest points of view in a country where they are not allowed to speak freely, you attack the messenger. Me. I am actually concerned for you and what they are teaching you. You must be willing to challenge your teachers the same way you challenged me. If you see that teacher again, ask him if he can say 100% for sure that the views presented in the video were that of the students, and not words that they were allowed to say in countries run by a Muslim Theocracy. The answer will be no. He can’t say for sure this is not a propaganda film.

      Because it is.

A number of people have said that the students in Hanover are smart enough to know that this video was produced in a Muslim country that does not allow dissenting views. Obviously, by your comments, that is not the case. What I hope you will realize is that there are people who will inundate you with falsehoods because they have an agenda. And I admit. I have an agenda. And that agenda is to make sure Hanover Schools turn out graduates that can think for themselves. And part of that is for you to look at the things you are taught in school with the same critical eye you looked at this article. Did you question your teacher about the possible taint of a video produced in a Muslim country? Did you ask if these were candid thoughts of students or a script prepared and approved by the terrorists? I would guess you did not.

I would also guess that you have not been taught the true history of Islam and how they infiltrate countries. I doubt that you understand that the Crusades were not about Christian atrocities but about stopping Muslim attackers who plan to dominate the world. And that plan has not changed.

And if Michelle is actually your name (I don’t know and don’t care) I would assume you are a female. You need to understand that the terrorists don’t allow females to be educated because it is harder to oppress them. And the clothes you are forced to wear are a part of the oppression of women who are nothing more than slaves in the Muslim world. And would you like to see your gay friends hanged or thrown off of rooftops? Your Christian friends beheaded?

Any teacher that does not teach the horrors of these terrorists and the truth behind Islam are aiding the enemy.

The schools pretend to want to tell “both sides” but they leave off the atrocities committed by Muslims in the name of Islam. America’s “atrocities” are not done out of aggression or a desire to rule Muslims, it is a response to the murders in the name of Islam. We have no issues with them as long as they don’t kill and murder as a means to spread Islam.

I don’t believe much that Muslims say because the Koran allows them to lie to protect Islam. But when they say they want to kill Christians, Jews, Atheists and anyone else that refuses to convert to Islam, I believe them. Because I have seen them do just that.

The picture I chose to use was not “click bait” it was a visual presentation of who these people really are. They say they are at war with us. And I take that quite seriously. You should too.
Tom White recently posted…The Council Has Spoken!! Our Watcher’s Council ResultsMy Profile

      • Michelle says:

The problem is Tom, that all the things you said,”Did you question your teacher about the possible taint of a video produced in a Muslim country? Did you ask if these were candid thoughts of students or a script prepared and approved by the terrorists?” you jumped to conclusions that are false. We did discuss this. And you comments about women under terrorists, while I am fully aware that this happens, it sadly has little to due with your argument and neither do their views on gay people nor Christians. It is not only terrorists who have those views. Schools do tell both sides rightly, as it relates to the issue at hand. It would be wildly inappropriate to leave off an opposing view. After all, that would leave the students being drawn a false picture and not allowing us to develop our own thoughts. Having seen what was actually taught and not the version this article falsely pumps into peoples heads, I was not left a dissenting American nor was I led to think that 9/11 was our fault or was justified.
Also, this statement, “atrocities committed by Muslims in the name of Islam”, yes atrocities have been committed by radical Muslims who twist the word of the Koran in their favor. I think you need to be more careful to use the proper wording, Tom, because you, most likely, would find it upsetting to your assumed christian faith if you were grouped with the Westboro Baptist Church’s radical beliefs like, “Thank God for dead soldiers!”. Radical Christians also say that the bible justifies hate crimes. I am sure this is not your interpretation, Tom. This, assuming your were citing atrocities of modern times, because if you were including all of history, Christians are also guilty. Actually, everything after the first half of your response is a grouping of logical fallacies. Please do not assume as students we are mindless and our teachers are trying to brainwash us into, what, terrorists? Anti-Americans? What actually would be the goal of the information as this falsely presents? Not once did was anything anti-american said, not that it would be crime. Don’t get me wrong, I love America, I love living here, I love the opportunities presented to me from living here, and I am lucky to live here. This does not mean I, and my fellow students are incapable of stepping in the shoes of other nations. Don’t take Hanover off a level playing field, as robbing us of this valuable and thought provoking lesson would.

        • Tom White says:

Michelle – I beg to differ. The propaganda potential was NOT discussed in the classroom. That much was admitted by the administration. I also spoke to several students and their parents that were in the classroom. I did not jump to conclusions. I simply stated the facts. And I beg to differ. We were attacked on 9/11 because of our Western views. Muslims believe we are evil and unworthy because we do not follow Sharia Law. Because we “allow” our women to dress in provocative attire and being gay is not a crime. Punishable by death. I don’t know what you have been taught, but the war against us is being waged because we do not follow Islam and we must be killed.

And the actors in this film are allowed, even mandated to lie.

          al-Taqiyya:
deception; the Islamic word for concealing or disguising one’s beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies.

It is impossible to understand Islam and Muslims by listening to their protestations against terror and their proclamations of patriotism for America. Usually, it is wise and fair to give people the benefit of the doubt but when it comes to national safety and the future of America, we had better look twice, even thrice at Muslim patriotism. Why? Because Islam permits lying! It is called “Al-taqiyya.” One Muslim said that Al-taqiyya means dissimulation then he expanded it to diplomacy but he should have gone further to deception. Now some Muslims who do not follow the Koran are as faithful Americans as any of us, but the problem is, we cannot know.

And your comment about the Muslims who “twist the Koran” shows you have not actually read and studied the Koran. There is far more going on than you can possibly understand. But even Imam Anjem Choudary does not buy your statement that the terrorists “twisted” Islam. He recently wrote in USA Today that the terrorists simply take the law into their own hands. There is a big difference. And his statement that Islam does not mean peace, it means submission says it all.

Contrary to popular misconception, Islam does not mean peace but rather means submission to the commands of Allah alone. Therefore, Muslims do not believe in the concept of freedom of expression, as their speech and actions are determined by divine revelation and not based on people’s desires.

Although Muslims may not agree about the idea of freedom of expression, even non-Muslims who espouse it say it comes with responsibilities. In an increasingly unstable and insecure world, the potential consequences of insulting the Messenger Muhammad are known to Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
Muslims consider the honor of the Prophet Muhammad to be dearer to them than that of their parents or even themselves. To defend it is considered to be an obligation upon them. The strict punishment if found guilty of this crime under sharia (Islamic law) is capital punishment implementable by an Islamic State. This is because the Messenger Muhammad said, “Whoever insults a Prophet kill him.”

However, because the honor of the Prophet is something which all Muslims want to defend, many will take the law into their own hands, as we often see.

Within liberal democracies, freedom of expression has curtailments, such as laws against incitement and hatred.

Ever wonder why these “peaceful” Muslims don’t speak out against the atrocities? How many times have you heard people on the news ask “where is the condemnation from the Muslim community”? See, the problem is, everything they are doing is ordered in the Koran. So for a Muslim to speak out against terrorism committed in the name is Islam would be to disrespect the Koran. Why do you think Obama refuses to call the terrorists Muslims? Because he understands the Koran. He was raised a Muslim. So the only Muslims you hear speaking against the terrorist acts are following al-Taqiyya. They lie to protect Islam.

Christians were forced to fight back. The “radical Christians” you speak of were those that finally had enough of the murders by Muslims, the banishing of all religion except Islam. History repeats itself. This has happened over and over again. Muslims invade, Christians and others try to get along, Muslims expand. They take advantage of the appeasement. Eventually we will all be forced to become Muslims or die. And that is the point historically that the newly oppressed rise up and become what you have learned are Radical Christians. The Christians were not the invaders. They have been forced to push the Muslims back time and again. Can’t you see the one sided education you are receiving? That you would defend these terrorists and believe that there were “radical” Christians who simply wanted to practice their own faith in peace is deeply disturbing. Islam FORCES people to submit. It is a historic fact. Tens of thousands of Christians have been slaughtered in recent years by these Muslims. And this has happened over and over for centuries. You simply don’t know the history of Islam. And you are one who is allowing history to repeat itself. Not by critical thinking, but based on how history was presented to you in school. You believe you are capable of critical thinking, but you have been given lopsided facts on which to form your opinion. That is why you see what I write as somehow incorrect. Only it is not incorrect. Read for yourself. If you really want to be informed enough to make an informed opinion, read this site: http://www.ignatiusinsight.com/features2005/tmadden_crusademyths_feb05.asp

And then check the facts elsewhere. You have learned a lot of information that has been spun. And you have been taught to never question your teachers, but to question anyone who has another opinion. I am saying to question everyone. But if you do nothing else, read the information at the link. Then verify it. There are a lot of “spin” sites out there. Now don’t get me wrong. Men have often used religion for their own gain. Governments have used it to control people. And even today that is going on. But the facts are Muslims have always been conquerors. And there is no freedom of religion in a Muslim dominated nation. And Christians have done the same even in America – but that was before the revolution.

So what does the Koran say about violence? On beheading for instance:

Quranic verses that dictate beheading Kaffirs:

5:33-“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution (by beheading), or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;”

8:12- “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off.”

47:4- “Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), strike off their heads; at length; then when you have made wide Slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives”: thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens.”

9:123: “Oh ye who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers and let them find harshness in you.”

2:191- “Kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from wherever they drove you out.”

5: 45– “We ordained therein for them: “Life for life, eye for eye, nose for nose, ear for ear. Toth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal.”

2:193- “Fight them on until there is no more tumult and religion becomes that of Allah”

9:29- “Fight those who do not believe in God and the last day… and fight People of the Book, (Christian and Jews) who do not accept the religion of truth (Islam) until they pay tribute (Zizziya tax) by hand, being inferior.”

8:17-It is not ye who Slew them; it is God; when thou threwest a handful of dust, it was not Thy act, but God’s…..” (Allah is a real merciful indeed!)

Or consider the crime of rape. Under Islamic law, rape can only be proven if the rapist confesses or if there are four male witnesses. Women who allege rape without the benefit of the act having been witnessed by four men who subsequently develop a conscience are actually confessing to having sex. If they or the accused happens to be married, then it is considered to be adultery. The reason 4 male witnesses are required is because one of Muhammad’s favorite wives had 3 witnesses to her rape and he did not want it to be true, so he decided it takes 4 witnesses.

And tell me how beating your woman is twisted:

Qur’an (4:34) – “Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.”

Qur’an (38:44) – “And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with it, and do not break your oath…” Allah telling Job to beat his wife (Tafsir).

          And on homosexuality:

Qur’an (7:80-84) – “…For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds…. And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone)” – An account that is borrowed from the Biblical story of Sodom. Muslim scholars through the centuries have interpreted the “rain of stones” on the town as meaning that homosexuals should be stoned, since no other reason is given for the people’s destruction. (The story is also repeated in suras 27 and 29).

Qur’an (7:81) – “Will ye commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you?” This verse is part of the previous text and it establishes that homosexuality as different from (and much worse than) adultery or other sexual sin. According to the Arabic grammar, homosexuality is called the worst sin, while references elsewhere describe other forms of non-marital sex as being “among great sins.”

Qur’an (26:165-166) – “Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, “And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing”

Qur’an (4:16) – “If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, Leave them alone” This is the Yusuf Ali translation. The original Arabic does not use the word “men” and simply says “two from among you.” Yusuf Ali may have added the word “men” because the verse seems to refer to a different set than referred to in the prior verse (explicitly denoted as “your women”). In other words, since 4:15 refers to “your women”, 4:16 is presumably written to and refers to men.

Interestingly, the same rules don’t apply in paradise, where martyrs for the cause of Allah enjoy an orgy of virgins and “perpetual youth” Qur’an (56:17) (otherwise known as “boys” Qur’an (52:24)). Qur’an (76:19) bluntly states, “And immortal boys will circulate among them, when you see them you will count them as scattered pearls.” Technically, the mere presence of boys doesn’t necessarily mean sex, however it is strongly implied from the particular emphasis on the effeminacy, handsomeness and “freshness” of the boys. The female virgins of paradise are also compared to pearls (56:23).

[Editor’s note: We are not implying a link between homosexuality and pedophilia here anymore than we are implying one between heterosexuality and pedophilia when mentioning that Muhammad’s preferred wife was a 9-year-old girl.]

Mr. White I have read over your article and have seen the video as I am a hanover county student. I also consider myself conservative leaning, but reading your article makes me ashamed to call myself a conservative. The ignorance presented in this article is so overwhelming that after reading the first half of your article I thought the whole thing was a joke. Once I finished the article I realized you were in fact serious and it made me very sad that someone could be so ignorant. Almost all of your points are either logical fallacies or blatantly wrong. This whole piece of literature, if it can even be called that, is blatant racism and radicalism that actually makes me lean away from conservatism rather than towards it. The level of ignorance in this is unparalleled to any other article I have read on this topic. I find this article extremely distasteful and I sincerely hope the people reading this article have enough sense to not believe a word of what you say.
