Hey Moonbat – Do You Find This Offensive Too?

According to YankeePhil, Moonbat finds Ray Steven’s new video offensive. (Phil gets paid to read the Moonbat Droppings so we don’t have to – Donations are appreciated!).

Personally, I find the video satirically enlightening, if not down right funny!

But I believe the video below was a far better example of the brilliant humor that is Ray Stevens.

Offensive?

Damn straight!

In your face?

You betcha’.

I remember singing along to this in 1962 driving along in my Dad’s old station wagon. We even named the old car Clyde!

Thanks for the memories, Phil. And please, mind the moonbat droppings! These can be toxic!

Keep going, Ray! 71 years young and still making us laugh!

You probably had the same sick sense of humor as a teenager which put you not too high on the date list.

Cute O-Bat-ma. Wish I had one.

I grew up on large doses of Firesign Theater, Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Saturday Night Live (when it was new and funny), and long haired rock. My sick sense of humor was purposefully honed in the bowels of the humor underground with some of the lowest friends a sick puppy like me could have.

I was left with an ability to find humor in many aspects without the need to parse every bit for something I can find offensive. Some of my best jokes are the self deprecating type. Many would be terribly offensive to you. But I love to laugh at myself.

I imagine feeling the need to find totally innocuous videos like Ray Stevens offensive really takes a lot of joy out of life. I tried to visit your blog and make some comments, but knowing that each and every word will be measured for some insensitivity or offensive meaning, I pretty much gave up visiting. I really did not feel welcomed. But that really doesn’t bother me. I just hang out someplace else.

But I must tell you, I find it immensely hysterical that you take offense to such utter and mindless nonsense as a comedian’s satirical video.

The philosopher and Redskin running back John Riggins once gave Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Conner some sage advice, albeit through an alcohol induced haze, when he said “Loosen up, baby”.

    Life is too short.

  3. Moon-howler says:

Actually, no one measured your words at all. No one ever said you were insensitive either, that I can recall.

I have never been in to slap-stick humor or Ray Stevens. He was out-dated 50 years ago. I thought he was stupid as a teenager and now I just find him to be …offensive.

I think sneaking over, looking at our material and leaving so you could mimic us to be offensive also. If you want to engage in dialogue, come back. If you are just there to scrape up moondroppings, stay home.

And finally, humor and what one finds humorous is a matter of individual taste. I suggest naming your bat O-Bat-ma rather than after me.

First, you called me down a couple of times for really petty things. I don’t really remember, or care. Something I never do here. I think I might have called Obama a Socialist or something. I just think that asking me to change my opinions or what I say to suit you makes your blog uninteresting to me.

I did not “sneak over”. Honestly, since you “offended” me, or rather insulted me, I have not visited your blog. I visited Yankee Phil, as I often do. Pretty much daily. And I placed his link in my post, and copied his link to your post. He has the video posted on his blog, which I actually pulled from YouTube. And like I said, Phil visited so we don’t have to. (That was intended to be humorous as well.) I would rather not “engage in dialog” with someone who parses every word looking for something offensive. That really sucks the life out of it. It is your right, I just prefer to avoid that type of “holier than thou” censorship. That is my right.

But it does not preclude me from having a bit of fun with your peculiarities. Given the right circumstances, I will do it again. So please accept my apologies in advance when I offend you.

You and I have vastly different philosophies, and how to run a blog is one of the differences. I do not visit blogs that don’t allow comments. Not that I want to comment, I just think that if you are going to publish something (as a blogger) you need to be open to comments. The next level is those that squash free expression with draconian personal rules of conduct. For instance, Lowell bans all mention of any doubt as to Obama’s place of birth. Fine. I don’t visit there, either.

There are things that are offensive. Mostly, if I would be embarrassed to have my daughter read something left on my blog, I might have a problem. But I am called a “right wing nut” or worse on a daily basis. That is the opinion of the writer, and they got their message across. I am not offended by someone’s opinion. And to be offended is to disrespect that person’s right to free expression. To demand that they restate their opinion is simply wrong. That is a concept you are unable to grasp, it seems.

The ironic thing is, if I said you had a personality defect that precluded you from dates on your blog, I am sure you would reprimand me for writing something offensive and demeaning. So you don’t even follow your own rules. But like I said, say what you want here. That is what comments are for.

And I did not name my bat, after you or anyone else.

I am not trying to pick a fight here. CargoSquid claims you are an upstanding person, and speaks highly of you, even though you two often disagree. And if he says that, I believe it is true.

I just don’t care to engage in dialog that involves heavy handed censorship, and frankly, your sensitivity bar is way too low. I just don’t have the desire or patience to deal with such nonsense.

  5. Moon-howler says:

Actually I asked you not to name call. Operative word: Asked.

You: “And now that the left wing Obama obsessed nut jobs are taking guns to schools and shooting fellow teachers, you anti-gun lefties might want to rethink your position. I am sure the dead and injured in the U of Alabama shootings would have loved to have had a gun.”

Me: “Tom, you sound angry. You shouldn’t be. Your boys are rolling on through the General Assembly like Grant took Richmond (sic). I am going to ask you to not do the name calling thing next time you post on here. If you look around rather than breezing on here and posting. all loaded for bear and shotgunning it, you will see that there is very little name-calling on this blog. We aren’t perfect, but we are working on it.

I am aware that there are no pure bars in Virginia. In fact, there is darn little I can’t find out about alcohol laws in the state in a matter of minutes and a phone call. However, definition depends on food revenue. You and I both know that there are times of the day when an establishment is more bar than restaurant.

There are people who don’t want to eat or drink in a wild west atmosphere. They aren’t nut jobs, necessarily. Now the guy who shot up the ducks over at Tim’s Rivershore, he might have been a nut job.”

That seems pretty mild to me.

And I think Cargosquid is a fine person. We often disagree but he adds a great deal to our blog. He is always courteous and stick to the issue not the person.

    I hope this clarifies.
