I AM VERY DISCOURAGED…EXCEPT in the LORD JESUS!

I am very discouraged.  I cried for a hour tonight.  I cannot believe the American people re-elected President Obama.  But they did.  I am just about done with politics.  I know the Lord has a purpose for everything but He is holy, and will allow a people to make bad decisions if they choose to.  The Children of Israel had before them life and death – all they had to do was obey.  Historically, they did not do that well.  I still have faith and confidence in Jesus and you should too.  (Here‘s how to trust in Him for eternal life.)  But maybe I have been putting too much energy into politics.

I think I will take a break from the blog for a couple of weeks.  I am not resigning from Virginia Right, just seeking some quiet repose, prayer and worship and seeking God’s face.  I intend to avoid political sites and channels for a bit.  I need some perspective.  I’ll see you in two weeks or so.

Damn, what happened Jesus? We follow you, and those godless Democrats win? Talk about faith challenger!
Oh yeah, I forgot — there is no God. Most Americans realize that. Idiot Christians, still stuck in 45 BC, are worshiping some fictional deity. They’ll keep trying to drag the country down with their talk of Jesus and God and Lord. Go talk in tongues to yourselves for awhile. Meanwhile, the rest of us have a future to deal with. Before we die and are food for the worms. Or get burned up by climate change. Which Lord Jesus says doesn’t exist, right?

    • It is great that you came by, Barry H., but I am sorry to hear how bitter you are about God and Jesus.

I suppose I could respond with “X number of scholars believe that Jesus was a real person and He existed and a very short time after His death, his followers spread the word that He lived again.” So how was that tomb empty? The Roman guards were stationed right there.

But you could raise issues in contrary to me I am sure. “But Y number of scholars…”

So let’s turn away from apologetics and to the real issue: Who is Jesus? The Jesus I know said things like “Let not your heart be troubled” and “Suffer the little children to come unto me.” When Jesus comes in a person’s life there have been some dramatic changes. Christians have been reported by a hostile Roman historian (I think Tacitus) as having great love for one another. A believer stopped a gladiator fight at the cost of his life. St. Maximilian Kolbe took the place of an innocent prisoner in a concentration camp and died a horrible death. Mother Teresa gave her life in service to Calcutta’s poorest.

Of course there are hypocrites. There are also those who try and fail in their faith from time to time. I am one of them. None of us are perfect. We need grace.

Some believers believe in global warming – I do not. But that is not a heaven and hell issue. (By the way, hell is a pretty warm place according to the Scripture. But it was not intended for people. But people are sent to what they choose – some choose nothing to do with God. So He gives them what they want: Eternal separation from God.)

I recommend to Barry H. to find a solid Bible believing church and you will find some people there like yourself – but followers of Christ. You will find those who are not perfect but you will also find some trying hard to love and serve like Christ. I am personally a Nazarene; can look at http://www.nazarene.org for a church near you. I am even willing to talk with you. Call me at 804.644.0477 at work and we can talk. If I am too busy, I’ll call back.

Thanks again for coming to read our blog.

    Sandy Sanders — Well said.

I think we are learning a bit of what Jeremiah must have felt. God helped Jeremiah carry on. If we keep the faith, God will do the same for us.

I am not a religious person, but I do not judge people for their values. I hope that you find some sense of piece Elwood. Even though I do not share your beliefs in religion, I do, however, share the values. What has become of morals, values, families and honest hard working Americans? I weep for our divided Nation and the people that have become so blinded by the propaganda that they are following the path to their destruction. Unfortunately, they are dragging down the people that work so hard to stay afloat, just barely making it and getting by paycheck to paycheck. We can only hope (or pray, if you have faith) that there truly are good ones left in our government that will stand with American values.
