Erick Erickson, one of the premier voices at RedState, had some eloquent words for his readers on the election coming up. After stating his prediction that Romney will win (my prediction, too!) he reminds us that no matter how the election turns out, God is in charge:
God is sovereign and He is in charge and He will return. That is my hope and my ever present expectation.
Erick is right! He continues with a confession of faith in Christ!
God is sovereign. And whether you are for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney, set your sights on God, not November 6th, and be happy. In four years, we really will do this all over again whether right now you think so or not. There is no permanence except in Heaven.
“These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.”
— Hebrews 11:13-16 (ESV)
(By the way, these verses are the very ones I read in my morning devotions! How great our God is at work!)
It’s true. Jesus is coming again. That is more important than any election. Let’s make sure we’re elected into grace of God:
“Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” Romans 11:6 (KJV)
How do we do that, Sandy? You have to trust in Jesus. He paid the bill for our sins. He paid the judgment. There is no more judgment in court when it is paid. But we do have to turn around (repent) and stop living the unholy, worldly life you have today. Give up self as Lord. It is super hard. But, “..[w]ith men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26. Ask God to forgive your sins. He will receive all the sincere seekers who seek after His grace!
