As we are seven days from the Ames Straw Poll, we have this interesting article from Mother Jones magazine.  It’s time for their daily hate for Rep. Bachmann but they actually show that she’s right.  Mother Jones basically accuses Bachmann of being nuts because she does not believe in sustainability:

“This is their agenda—I know it’s hard to believe, it’s hard to fathom, but this is ‘Mission Accomplished’ for them,” she said of congressional Democrats. “They want Americans to take transit and move to the inner cities. They want Americans to move to the urban core, live in tenements, [and] take light rail to their government jobs. That’s their vision for America.”

Although she didn’t say it right then, Bachmann likely had something specific in mind: Agenda 21, a two-decade-old United Nations agreement that has taken on a life of its own on the far-right. The agreement, forged in 1992, nominally committed signatories to a set of shared values designed to mitigate the environmental impact of human development. Member countries agreed to a range of sustainability goals, from preserving the ozone layer to ensuring that forests are managed so they’ll be around for future generations. (The United States is a signatory, but the treaty has not been ratified by the Senate.)

If you follow my blog, you will easily know Rep. Bachmann is right.  Agenda 21 is a far reaching plan to destroy liberty and national sovereignty.  Unlike Mother Jones, I can back it up with careful research:

In reality, no one’s stopping New Hampshirites (or anyone else, for that matter) from buying any kind of lightbulb they please—even the incandescent variety that Bachmann warns will be outlawed unless we pass the Better Use of Light Bulbs (BULB) Act that she supported. (BULB would repeal the energy-efficiency rules.)

This is simply not accurate.  The 100 watt regular light bulb is banned, effective 1/1/12.  Take AARP’s word for it:

To encourage energy efficiency, Congress passed a law in 2007 mandating that bulbs producing 100 watts worth of light meet certain efficiency goals, starting in 2012. Conventional light bulbs don’t meet those goals, so the law will prohibit making or importing them. The same rule will start apply to remaining bulbs 40 watts and above in 2014. Since January, California has already banned stores from restocking 100-watt incandescent bulbs.

But, if you like Rep. Bachmann (and let me say, she’d make a good President for sure!) you will love Ron Paul!  He has been against Agenda 21 and related since it seems before the Constitutional Convention!  Take Mother Jones’ word for it:

Bachmann is not the only Republican politician to raise concerns about the nation’s commitment to sustainable development—Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) has been a regular at the annual Freedom 21 conference, which promotes “property rights and free markets” as an alternative to Agenda 21.

How regular?  The citation is to the 2001 Freedom conference.  That’s right.  2001.  Paul’s answer to the Values Voters Summit in 2007 to Phyllis Schlafly’s question on the NAU was telling!  He said he was in favor of getting the US out of the “…UN, the IMF, The World Bank, The WTO, NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT!”  (rough quote)  I do favor a feasibility study about whether we could get out of the UN without it being used against us.

So, if you want the real deal against Agenda 21 – vote/support RON PAUL in 2012.  For all my Iowa readers, go next Saturday to the Ames straw poll and vote for REAL CHANGE.  Vote for liberty!  Vote for sovereignty!  Vote against Agenda 21.  Vote for Cong. Ron Paul on August 13!

  1. ssj12 says:

incandescent bulbs will not disappear. if anyone had a clue, eco-incandescents have been made that replace traditional ones. Currently they are thinks like 52 watts bulbs which used to be 75 watt bulbs and such. Basically an improvement to the current bulbs. All the law requires is better efficiency, not an all out ban on a product. Which has happened.

  2. Thanks, ssj12 for coming by and commenting. Must dissent! If AARP calls it a ban, I'll go with it. Besides, this was a deal between radical environmentalists and Philips the Dutch light blub company that needs to be repealed along with CAFE standards. Let the free market handle it!

  3. Sam Fox says:

I used to like Bachmann till I found out she voted to extend the 'Patriot' Act. To make matters worse, I found that she & hubby also took govt $ while Michele was talking against the practice.

She broke my heart. I thought she would make a good VP for Ron Paul, but no longer.

Gary Johnson would make a better VP. He, unlike Michele, likes the Constitution & would not vote to eviscerate our liberties we have outlined in our founding documents.

Agenda 21 is laying the groundwork for a total take over of the planet by those who think themselves elite.
