Looks like the Bonita Bill is back in the news:
Urgent! Property Rights Battle Heating up in Warrenton
Property Rights Activists Urgently Needed
As you may know, there has been a major battle in Fauquier County over the rights of farmers to (among other things) to sell their own home grown products on their property and to use their property for private events.
This battle led to the introduction of the Boneta Bill in the last legislative session. That battle has continued to rage this year with efforts on both the county and state level to stop this vital legislation.
This Thursday night in Warrenton, the forces arrayed to stop the rights of farmers to use their property are attempting a tactic they believe will kill the Boneta effort once and for all.
Fauquier County Supervisor Holder Trumbo, a major opponent of the Boneta Bill, is introducing a county proposal that would actually provide most of the provisions of the Boneta Bill. It is designed to make it appear that the County is giving in and giving the Farmers a victory on the county level.
However, this is an attempt to actually kill the Boneta Bill on a state level. It is dirty politics of the worst kind.
Here’s why. Trumbo is counting on his friends at the Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) to stack the room Thursday night in opposition to his proposal. In that way he can kill his own proposal while pretending that he tried to help the farmers on the local level – thus killing the Boneta Bill on both the state and local level.
Urgent! I am calling on all APC supporters throughout Virginia to join me and local Fauquier activists to counter the PEC/Trumbo ploy by stacking the room with our own people and force passage of Trumbo’s pro-farmer proposal.
We have never had such an excellent opportunity to stop the powerful anti property forces in Virginia before.
Please join me and win a victory for Farm Freedom.
