Independents Abandoning Democrats

The Independents that elected Barack Obama in 2008 are abandoning Democrats in droves. As we pointed out a few days ago, the Democrats are in serious trouble in 2010. And they don’t even understand why.

Most Democrats believe, mistakenly, that in 2008, an energized base and massive numbers of new voters put Obama in the White House. In the article mentioned above and numerous other sources have simply shown that is not true. And the Virginia and New Jersey votes (and the NY-23) are evidence that the independents have moved away from Democrats. The only explanation is the massive debt the Obama Administration is amassing combined with the worsening economy.

When Obama promised “hope” and “change”, many bought into that lie. As it turns out, Obama is clueless on addressing the problems faced by our nation and has surrounded himself with the equally clueless. All of which spells disaster for the United States, and blame for the Democrats.

Politico said:

Obama’s own popularity among independents has fallen significantly, too. A CBS News poll Tuesday showed the president’s approval rating among unaligned voters falling to 45 percent — down from 63 percent in April.

“We withdrew from the accounts of voters and now we need to pay them back,” said Nathan Daschle, executive director of the Democratic Governors Association. “We are having these conversations right now about what independents need to see and hear.”

Pat Waak, the chairwoman of the Colorado Democratic Party, said the party had so far failed to convince independent voters of the steps it had taken to improve the economy.

The outlook for the Republicans to make major strides in 2010 is favorable. Good, solid Conservatives will make major gains in both houses and the real recovery will begin.
