Is Democrat Lt Gov. Candidate Northam a RACIST? Civil Right’s Leaders Speak Out

A major story is breaking.

National civil rights leaders reacted to Democratic candidate for Virginia Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam refusing on camera to shake hands with his Republican opponent—right after confirming that he wants to massively expand government healthcare and not denying allegations that he thinks traditional Christians have no right to act according to their traditional-marriage views.

Dr. Alveda King—the niece of Martin Luther King, Jr. and one of America’s most prominent and respected civil rights leaders—said in a statement to Breitbart News:

I was saddened to learn today that Lt. Gov. candidate Ralph Northam refused to shake the hands of his opponent E.W. Jackson at the end of a television debate.  I am deeply burdened by the loss of civility in politics today.

As one who has been elected to office as a Democratic Georgia State Representative, served as a Republican presidential appointee and who has often voted as an Independent, I have often said that we would all be better off without the political squabbles that tend to divide us. Refusing to shake hands with your opponent in front of a television audience takes the loss of civility to a new low. I would hope that his refusal to shake hands had nothing to do with the color of his opponent’s skin.

In a troubled economy, people are looking for leaders who can bring everyone together to solve the problems that confront us all. It is my hope that in these last hours of the race, Ralph Northam will recognize his inappropriate behavior and offer an apology to E.W. Jackson and to all those he hopes to represent.

Dr. King’s reference to skin color is because Northam is white, while Jackson is African-American.

Read the rest here.

And check it out for yourself at the end of this interview with both EW Jackson and Northam. Jackson offers his hand, Northam ignores him.

  1. Northam is an old school racist white southern Democracy says:

Had his opponent been white, Northam would have shook hands. Northam has conducted a racist campaign reminiscent of Lester Maddox and George Walkace. There is no room in our state capital for racists like Mr Northam.

    NOW, IT IS TIME.

Destroy Freedom, Destroy Democracy, Destroy The Constitution, Already Destroyed the American Dream, Destroy, Destroy, Destroy!

    The Republicans.

This is the only vision of America that the Republican Party has shown Virginia, or America. When you oppose the will of the majority as the Republicans have, you simply do not believe in our Constitution. Plain and simple.

I believe that Virginia is supposedly the last state that does not allow a Governor to serve consecutive terms? Simply not so this election. A vote for Cuccinelli is just another vote for a McDonnell second term. Nothing more.
    Four more years of McDonnell.

Sure, different name, different haircut. But that is where the differences stop. Same grease job from giftgate, same corruption, same anti-women administration. The tax increase damage has already been done. Cuccinelli says he will not contest it, because it belongs to him! He will not repeal his own tax increase.

The Republicans have voted over 40 times to repeal ObamaCare in Washington. But, funny thing, we can not get one vote to repeal the largest tax increase in Virginia history, HB2313. HB2313, the Republican job killer.

Ask Cuccinelli if he believes women should receive equal pay for doing the same job a man does, just ask him?

Ask Cuccinelli not what he will not do, but what will he do, and how will he get the Senate, the House, and most importantly, Dominion Resources to support his vision for Virginia.

The Republicans did a good man dirty by changing the rules. Tomorrow, they will find out once again that what goes around comes around. Instead of celebrating a Bill Bolling victory, they will sink to a new low. And they worked hard for it! You Bet Cha!

Send the Republicans a message tomorrow. Send the Tea Party a message tomorrow. Send the Far Right a message tomorrow.

Do to them what they did to one of their own, Bill Bolling! Do to them what they did to the middle class. Do to them what they did to the the poor! Do to them what they did to women! TURN YOUR BACK ON THEM!

Say no to run away spending, no more tax increases, equal rights for women! TURN YOUR BACK ON THE REPUBLICANS TOMORROW.

    Vote McAuliffe-Northam-Herring!
