The Roanoke Tea Party reports that the Board of County Supervisors of Roanoke County will have on their agenda the continued membership in ICLEI:

January 10, the county’s relationship with ICLEI will be on the formal Board of Supervisors agenda! This was not received well (I am told) by ICLEI sympathizer Charlotte Moore. Thanks to Ed Elswick for making this happen.

The Tea Party wants Roanoke County voters to pack this meeting.  They expect the opposition to do so:

I would expect some pro-ICLEI support to show up on January 10….so lets make sure we have informed and passionate county residents PACKING THE ROOM. We also need to make sure we are calling and emailing the Board on this…Contact information for each board member can be found by clicking their name below. Please take a moment to contact your represenative and let them know they need to:

  • Vote To Sever Ties With ICLEI
  • Vote to have the current Comprehensive Plan reviewed to remove sustainable development concepts from the plan.
I agree!  If you live in Roanoke County, call or email your supervisor.  It can only take one activist doing his/her homework to persuade the key vote to get rid of ICLEI.

One Response to “JANUARY 10: ICLEI on the AGENDA in ROANOKE COUNTY!”

I commend you all for what you've accomplished in your fight against Agenda 21 and ICLEI. However, there's another organization promoting Agenda 21 through the back door. Do some research on The National Association of Counties(NACo) it's puppet state affiliates(ie MACO,Montana Association of Counties) and the League of Cities and Towns. Get rid of ICLEI and I'll bet your county or city or town still has affiliation with one of these organizations that claim to "help" your local government entities “help” their local constituents and ecomomy. NACo bragged that in 2011 it had reached 100% membership. Not only do they involve themselves in training your newly elected officials but they have yearly conferences to discuss lobbying and strategy to promote sustainable development, grant applications and even legal advice and/or support in handling private property suits. They promote Obamacare (how to implement it through the county level) sustainable planning and subdivisions, application of the visionary process, consensus/facilitation and state and federal lobbying for whatever bills promote sustainable issues i.e. Smart Growth.

I attended that ICLEI membership meeting in Missoula and several county and town meetings in my own county which has no direct membership or involvement with ICLEI. Yet MACo and its influence on my county and town is barely distinguishable from ICLEI and Smart Growth or sustainable development. BTW, MACo has 100% Montana county membership.
