The Daily Mail reported that the new chief judge of the European Court of Human Rights (Yes that one that requires votes for prisoners but no rights for homeschoolers!), Judge Dean Spielmann from Luxembourg, has threatened the UK that Britain must obey its decrees or leave the EU:
Britain was yesterday threatened with having to quit the European Union if it refuses to ‘kowtow’ to Strasbourg’s human rights judges.
The warning was delivered by the new head of the European Court of Human Rights, amid an increasing determination among Tory Cabinet ministers to leave its jurisdiction.
Judge Dean Spielmann, from Luxemburg, also insisted that ministers had a duty to grant the vote to prisoners.
I am no legal expert, but Parliament should pass a law depriving the British courts of jurisdiction or power to award damages for any violation of ECHR decrees unless that decree is affirmatively agreed by the British Parliament. Until that day, the only party that can be trusted to stand up to this rogue court is UKIP. What Nigel Farage should say is: Don’t throw me in that briar patch! I will be happy when UKIP has a majority of seats in Westminster to oblige Judge Spielmann and leave the EU!
