Lessons To Liberal Republicans Compliments Of Dede Scozzafava

600px-Anti-Socialist-Symbol_svgThe ongoing struggle within the Republican Party between Liberal Republicans and Conservative Republicans has bubbled to the surface this election cycle.

Between the Tea Party activists, We Surround Them and various Patriot and other groups, Conservatives have banded together like never before. Some are Republicans, some former Republicans, Conservative Party members and Libertarians, and many have no party affiliation at all. Many are even Democrats. All are fiscal and social conservatives.

The Mainstream Media are either unable or unwilling to understand that these massive protests, marches and gatherings are not Republican events. They are Conservative events that transcend party identification. They see the anger and emotion and assume it is against President Obama or the Democratic Party. For some, this may be true. For most, the anger is against both parties.

The anger is directed at those that do not subscribe to the vision of a small Federal government. And those that ignore the Constitution. And especially those that are in favor of Socialism – or worse.

Republicans In Name Only, or RINOs are those that are watering down the Republican message and turning Republicans into nothing more than Democrat Lite.

And John McCain is a perfect example of a RINO. During the 2008 Presidential Election, it was hard to tell which candidate was the Democrat. Some tallies showed that McCain promised more government spending than Obama. Many Republicans either held their nose and voted for McCain, did not vote, or slapped a bumper sticker on their car that said “Don’t Blame Me, I Voted For Palin“.

It is a good indication that Republicans have lost their way when a rally by the Vice Presidential candidate attracted far more excited voters than a McCain rally.

There are a number of rather well known RINOs in the party in addition to McCain. Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and former Republican Arlen Specter, who has shown his true colors by defecting to the Democratic Party. These are people that simply cannot be trusted to vote conservative. They are the true Fifth Column of the Republican Party.

And we have a number of “pocket” RINO’s. These are people willing to compromise their conservative values in an effort to be “bi-partisan”, which these days means giving in to the Democrats.

And any Republican that voted for the bail outs are suspect and on the short list for retirement.

There is a lesson for the Republican Party in the Dede Scozzafava debacle in New York. Republicans nominated a left wing, liberal RINO, and a Conservative Independent caused her to withdraw. And in a prime example of why these RINOs are untrustworthy Republicans, Scozzafava threw her supporters to the Democrat.

As Politico put it:

Some of the most prominent names in national Republican Party politics are lining up against the GOP nominee in a key upstate New York House special election, the latest being former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who weighed in Friday.

In endorsing Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman in the Nov. 3 contest, Santorum joined former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, and former presidential candidate Steve Forbes, all of whom announced their backing for the conservative third-party candidate this week.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty suggested Friday that he might be the next well-known Republican to break with the party establishment and support Hoffman. When asked about the race Friday during an interview with ABC, he expressed frustration with GOP nominee Dede Scozzafava and said he will “probably” endorse in the race.

Those that listen to advice from Democrats and the Mainstream Media telling Republicans that they need to be more “mainstream” and support abortion choice and gay rights (including gay marriage) if they want to win are listening to the wrong advice. This advice is the best way to lose elections and weaken the Republican Party.

There will be a large number of Conservatives from the We Surround Them Group in Tee Shirts at the Republican Victory Party tomorrow at the Marriott in Richmond to remind the Republican victors that they are being watched. And if you want to continue representing the Republican Party, you must represent the Conservatives, or the Democrats will be the least of your worries.

We are in a battle for the survival of the country. The liberal Socialists are hell bent on ruining this once great country. The only way to return the United States to the greatness of the past is to purge the Liberals and Socialists from power. No matter the party.

And for my Liberal friends salivating and rubbing your paws like flies at a picnic, your party is in the same struggle. The Progressive Socialists and Obama have awakened a sleeping Conservative giant. This struggle is most definitely not good news for you. It spells the end of your success.

And your struggle to continue to be the party that is an amalgamation of Special Interests and Socialists is doomed to failure. With the small taste of Socialism and the unproductive economy it brings, you are a victim of your own success.

We are now sure Socialism is bad.

Mr. White the biggest lesson here is something that you have ignored. It is not the average Joe Republican who backed Dede, but the local committee that propped her up as the nominee which forced Hoffman to run as a Conservative Independent. Now, that said, I understand that Newt wanted to respect the local machine that endorsed Dede. The issue here is there was no primary. Had there been it would have benefited the GOP more but eliminating the appearance of division that has been manipulated by the mainstream. We experienced the same thing here in Virginia with the convention nominating an candidate with zero chance of winning; his name was Gilmore. Primaries should be preserved even if special elections. Voters need to be able to set the course; not the local committees full of insiders.

If there were a primary, the liberal Republican Dede would not have been the nominee. I am not sure who might have been, but I am sure it would have been a Conservative Republican.

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
