LOOKS LIKE I LEFT TOO EARLY! BISHOP JACKSON WINS LG NOMINATION! MAYBE last minute DIRTY TRICKS!

I left the Virginia GOP convention because I had voted (for Bishop Jackson for the fourth time!) and I had neglected my family enough and did not choose to see the acceptance speech.

But I missed the excitement with the allegations that the Snyder campaign had made up endorsements of key people to try to overtake Jackson for the nomination.  I prefer to believe it was a sin of overexuberance.  But if so, Snyder needs to make it right.  Call those misrepresented and apologize; send an email to every delegate stating what exactly happened.  Make sure it is not repeated in a future campaign.

And let me say for the record that I was impressed with Pete Snyder and I was helpful with the joint tie for first place with Bishop Jackson because I was so impressed with Snyder.  He seems to be willing to say what he believes in regardless of cost and has a fair amount of charisma.  We’ll see what happens here.

Now time to tout!  I (along with surely lots of other people) suggested in an email that Bishop Jackson should consider running for LG in that he could keep his church and STAND as LG is technically a part-time job.  Jackson could do well in an convention setting, much like Rev. Maurice Dawkins did in 1994.  (Dawkins did not get the support he needed to fight Senator Robb but I liked the effort.)  So, when he ran, I felt a bit like I had to help him!  :)  I certainly felt no check on my spirit from supporting Jackson.

Now let’s do all we can to get the GOP team elected:  Cuccinelli/Jackson/Obenshain.

We have made our choices for the election of 2013 in Va. Now we must support these choices. The lobbyist and special interest are lining up with big money. In order to mitigate the infulence of big money we must make a large number of small contributions. A 25
35 or even a $ 50.00 contribution can be a big help. We should not stand back and let the big money run OUR election and control those we will elect. Please make a contribution to the people we have chosen. Mitigate the big money with a lot of small contributions

    • Larnie is right. Thanks for reminding us. I have never given money to a campaign since I ran for delegate in 1989 (I donated to get items when Alan Keyes ran for President in 2000. I even met Ambassador Keyes and yes I voted for him in the primary.) But I may scrape a few dollars to Bishop Jackson!

    Elwood,

As a non-attorney, I hope it is just my lack of legalize that perhaps makes it so unclear for me to fathom exactly what you are saying in your third paragraph. For although I have no knowledge of any actual tie vote at the end of the day Saturday in either the final number of delegates voted or their actual weighted votes, was their an actual tie at the end? Or did Bishop Jackson actually win the vote outright, before Pete magnanimously withdrew his nomination and endorsed E.W. shortly before the final count was announced? And for that matter, will we ever know how close this vote actually was or the AG vote was?

This is what is difficult for me to read between the lines of what you have written. For in essence how else other than by simply adding your four votes with mine and others times for E.W., did you mean to imply you had a role in achieving a “tie”? Bishop had 49.7% of the third weighted vote. Did he actually have less on the forth ballot to your knowledge?

For the record I also thought and hoped that all seven of our Lt. Governor candidates and our two AG candidates, and our gubernatorial candidate each said exactly what they believed “regardless of the costs” and now each with their own God given measure of personal charisma will continue to support and promote the whole ticket we have elected.

    • There was no tie in the vote count but we tied for first place in our blog endorsement. I agree, Roger, we need to stand with all three of our nominees. Annoy a liberal; give money for Bishop Jackson. Better yet, get people to vote for him (and Cuccinelli and Obenshein!)

      Thanks for coming by.

      Sandy
