Dear Editor,
Thousands of years of human history cannot be overruled by three hours of debate before nine imperfect people. But on Tuesday at the U.S. Supreme court that is exactly what liberal homosexual activist were hoping for in the race to upend nature’s law — and nature’s God.
Outside the U.S. Supreme Court, where the future of civilization was on trial, people from both sides of the marriage debate soaked in the sun while inside clouds gathered over the question that’s shadowed America for the last 11 years: does the court have a right to force same-sex “marriage” on every state in the union?
Two years ago, these same justices argued NO. It was wrong, Anthony Kennedy warned, for courts to “put a thumb on the scales and influence a state’s decision as to how to shape its own marriage laws.”
Now, a vocal minority is asking these nine justices to put — not just a thumb, but the body of America’s highest court on the scales, toppling 240 years of self-governance. If they concede, burying the nation’s democratic heritage under an avalanche of judicial activism, states’ rights and the voters voice are forever at risk.
For the sake of our great nation, we must hope and pray this does not happen.

Standard hateful conservative ignorance. “If you’re gay you can’t marry because straight people say so.” If “states rights” were allowed to control every issue we’d still have colored bathrooms and segregated schools in the south. The world evolves, flat-earthers like you will gradually be overcome.
No. We would not have colored bathrooms. Marriage is historically a union of one man and one woman. The institution is set up because it is without question the best environment for raising children. People like you, the militants, the bullies that demand we go against our religion and respect your “rights” have no problem at all stepping all over our beliefs that have been around since mankind. You are a hater and an anti Christian. There will NEVER be a gay marriage in the eyes of God no matter what laws are passed. when two of the same sex, three or four people (or animals) engage in a mock marriage, no matter if it is sanctioned or not, it WILL NEVER be Holy Matrimony. By definition it CAN’T be.
Do what you will, God will judge. But my beliefs and those of true Christians will never change because you wish it to be so. I have a Constitutional right to my religious beliefs that trump your silly mockery of marriage. And I cannot be a Christian and accept marriage that is not sanctioned by God. The law cannot force me to accept it.
Take your hate and go elsewhere.

The biggest news from yesterday’s Supreme Court arguments isn’t news at all to conservatives: Same-sex “marriage” is a threat to religious freedom. For once, that revelation didn’t come from one of the lawyers on our side but from the Obama administration’s own attorney. In a rare moment of candor, Solicitor General Donald Verrilli sent a clear signal on where this debate is headed, and it isn’t to the marriage altar.
As the President’s chief attorney made stunningly clear, redefining marriage is — and has never been — the end goal of homosexuals. Silencing dissent is. And you can’t silence dissent without punishing speech and belief — which is apparently what the government has in mind if the Court rules in the Left’s favor.
