Creigh Deeds is admitting Bob McDonnell’s fund raising has far exceeded his own, and the Democratic Nominee for Governor is in a tight spot financially. In an email sent out today, Deeds said:
While I was fighting a tough primary, Bob McDonnell was able to raise close to $5 million to campaign against me allowing him to go up on TV this week. We have a lot of momentum in the polls — but when it comes to money, we’ve got some catching up to do.
Deeds advises of the upcoming June 30 deadline for filing and is afraid of how his low funds will play in the press after the filing is made public.
As to the polls, we can only assume Deeds is referring to the poll taken immediately after the primary by Rasmussen, which gave Deeds a 6 point lead due to the primary bounce. A poll taken a few days later by Daily Kos shows the poll bounce is gone and Deeds has fallen behind McDonnell in not just money, but the polls as well.
