For all the lefty blogs pretending their knickers are in a knot, please pipe down and get a grip.
If incoming Governor Bob McDonnell were a Democrat, the liberal blogs would totally expect that on inauguration day, all promises and programs discussed during the campaign would go out the window, replaced by the hidden agenda nobody talked about.
First, we must deal with a substantial budget mess. One that has Virginia on the brink. A mess left by his predecessor.
Though we don’t expect Bob McDonnell to remind us daily of how bad the previous administration was. He will actually resolve the problem.
We also will not see Bob McDonnell use the budget crisis to increase his own power.
We will not see Republicans locked behind closed doors making deals with devils to push a Conservative agenda.
We will not see all things near and dear to the opposite party taxed by McDonnell.
Don’t look for the budget problem to be resolved by taxing “green” energy while subsidizing oil.
Don’t look for higher taxes on solar panels.
Don’t expect a radical agenda being pushed on Virginians while the state goes to hell.
Don’t expect an expansion of the nanny state. The state is not here to babysit your pre-K kids at taxpayer expense.
I fully expect to continue to pay my own mortgage and put gas in my car.
What you can expect is a realistic budget projection, smaller government, and common sense cuts.
In short, don’t expect an administration like Tim Kaine and President Obama with uncontrolled spending and irresponsible management.
The truth is, all we need to do is trim the budget back to where it was when Tim Kaine took over.
Bob McDonnell cannot fix transportation in 60 days. It is too important to gather the legislators together at midnight over the weekend and make frantic deals just to say he passed a Transportation bill. Doing it right will take more time and a lot of input from the public, unlike the Washington Health Care debacle.
We are in the middle of the Tim Kaine budget. Bob McDonnell is more concerned with putting forth good legislation that actually solves the problems rather than smattering something together just to say “Mission Accomplished”.
There is a stiff headwind blowing down I-95 aiming to blow the money right out of Virginia’s coffers. There is a vacuum from behind caused by the Kaine fiscal responsibilities.
Governor Bob McDonnell is the breath of fresh air in between.
Bob McDonnell will do this the right way. Watch and learn.
