Yes I am saddened at the McDonnell verdict.  Here’s what I wrote at Bearing Drift in response to their coverage:

So McDonnell should have taken a plea to a felony count he was actually acquitted of to avoid conviction on the counts he was convicted of?  An attorney who pleads to a felony loses his license and would still face prison, loss of right to vote and to hold office.  I would say if there was a misdemeanor (criminal stupidity is alas not a misdemeanor) he could plead to that would be different situation.  There should be lesser-included misdemeanors for federal crimes like this and also juries should be advised of the penalties, too.

Yes I prayed for Bob and Maureen.  And I plan to continue to pray; I believe this was a miscarriage of justice although as an officer of the court I must respect the verdict.  But what about God’s will?  All I can say is we do not know the ways of God.  I certainly do not.  But we’ll see about the appeal.
