William “B.J.” Lawson is a physician (what is it about all these doctors running for office? The answer is that the nation is sick and needs a doctor! And Dr. Paul is on duty but can’t do it all!) running for Congress in central North Carolina (bloggers note: I am a native of the Tarheel State) against a long term incumbent, David Price. Lawson ran in 2008 but did not win. Here’s his website. (I would add that Dr. Lawson is featured in the FOR LIBERTY documentary soon to be shown in Virginia!)
Redstate is reporting that this may be surprise race (RCP has it likely Democrat) for the GOP. It would be great to have another strong constitutionalist to join Dr. Paul and Walter Jones (NC3) in the House. Lawson is endorsed by Ron Paul:
“B.J. will be a stalwart defender of the constitution and individual liberties. In 2008 I supported his campaign because he was talking about the Constitution, limited government and reducing our global police force, I encourage everyone to stand with me in supporting him again in 2010. We need more people of Dr. Lawson’s caliber in Washington D.C.”
His stands on the issues are great; Lawson’s theme is simple:
That’s why I’m running for Congress. I want to take our country in a new direction and return to the vision outlined by our Constitution.
Lawson’s vision is to cut taxes, stop spending, protect US sovereignty, repeal Obamacare, get rid of useless regulations and return local control of education. (I am sorry I can’t vote for him!) This is a startling contrast from his opponent, Rep. Price. Here’s where (from his webpage) he takes credit for cap and trade and says this about our sovereignty:
I also believe that international agreements on mandatory, enforceable caps on greenhouse gas emissions are essential. In the meantime, the U.S. needs to enact laws – and support state efforts – to meet its obligations in this regard.
This is appalling! We do NOT need any more sovereignty killers like so-called climate change agreements. Here’s another gem from Rep. Price:
When President Obama took office in January, he faced a deficit of well over $1 trillion, a national debt of $10.6 trillion, and the most serious economic downturn since the Great Depression. As co-chair of the Democratic Budget Group, I am proud of my record of pushing for greater fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets, and pay-as-you-go (PAYGO).
I have to ask – where’s the balanced budget? The debt is now over $13 trillion! With all due respect, this is seriously out of touch with reality. The Fourth Congressional District of NC needs a doctor! Dr. Lawson is in a ambulance and heading to treat the sick patient in DC – but only if he wins! If you can, find a way to support Dr. B. J. Lawson and get him elected this time!
