Here are several exciting stories about the Ames straw poll.

Politico sounds like Paul could win:

Paul’s straw poll performance is one of the big wild cards in Ames. He drew just 9 percent there in 2007, when he was a far less prominent figure. A Paul victory would be a shock to the system, and would complicate things for observers eyeing the straw poll as a Pawlenty vs. Bachmann throwdown.

Fox News is definitely not the Ron Paul channel.  But it agrees with Politico:  He can win!

See this article from the Daily Paul:  Story County GOP chair Cory Adams endorses Paul!

“Only Ron Paul articulates and demonstrates a clear devotion to constitutionally limited government.

“With Ron Paul as president, Iowans and all Americans would have leadership that is in step with conservative family values, is fiscally responsible, puts forth a strong national defense our armed services men and women endorse, and protects civil liberties at home.”

Adams could not have said it better!  Finally, Radio Iowa had this report from Ames:

Rival Michele Bachmann is now calling herself an “underdog” in that upcoming competition, while Tim Pawlenty says, win or lose, the Straw Poll’s outcome won’t decide whether he’ll stay in the race. Paul spoke to about 100 people this morning in Ames — the city that will host the Straw Poll festivities. Paul called his Iowa supporters a “unique” group of “driven” people.

Bachmann is trying to tamp down enthusiasm.  I would say the other candidates’ supporters especially Romney fans should vote for Paul to give both former MN Governor Pawlenty and Cong. Bachmann an embarrassing loss.  Sounds encouraging; let’s keep fighting and praying!  When’s August 13?

Yes, he might. Straw polls are not a reflection of suppport in a given area. They are a refection of how much organization, money and effort is spent to get the most number of people to register and show up for the event so they can prevail in that straw poll. It’s great for the sponsors of the events. They love seeing those car and bus loads roll in with registration fees paid. I say this as one that is not behind a candidate as of yet.
